    My wife and I generally go on cruises in late October-early November and January-February.
    Regardless of the cruise line, you won't find many kids on board during those times.

    I went on the Scarlet Lady a couple of weeks ago. I have cruised on a few of the major cruise lines and I was curious about VV. I have to say that as solo sailor, I found many places to just chill when I didn't feel like participating. The activities were fun to watch. I am in my 60's and was not offended; I just left if I felt uncomfortable. Virgin is doing everything differently, and it was a pretty good experience. Getting reservations to dine was my only complaint. I loved room service; they found me even when not in my room. And leaving the ship was just so fast and easy. Good for Virgin for being different!

    We did a cruise on Scarlet Lady in September. We didn’t mind the “adult” aspects of the cruise at all. What we did mind was the poor service in many areas and hit or miss drinks and food that we were served. Our first clue that something was wrong was when I tried to make reservation just as we boarded. Nothing to be had for the entire voyage.We got on the ship at our scheduled time. It difficult for me to believe that every reservable activity on the cruise was already sold out. We went straight to Sailor Services. That had no way to access the reservation system so the guy there actually tried to make reservations using my phone with no results. He shrugged his shoulders and said “Everything must be full already.” He told us that his supervisor knew a lot more than he did and that he would have her call me. She did not. We found this to be typical of our experience on Scarlet Lady. We didn’t get to go to any shows. We were able to get into a couple of reservation only restaurants by just showing up and skiing if they could seat us. We had warm drinks that should have been cold and bars that should have been comfortable that required cold weather clothing. Surprise! We didn’t bring any on a Caribbean cruise. We did love some things about the ship. 😊We loved our balcony stateroom and even the tiny bathroom with a gigantic shower. We like the “Grab and Go “ boxes of snacks available around the ship. The Virgin app never really seemed to work. I bought the pricier and supposedly faster internet for myself. My wife chose not to. Her free internet in head to head test of data rates was exactly the same speed as mine. I liked the fundamental idea of Virgin Voyages but I think they need to work on their execution.

      So on the ship you need a sweater?

    • @rreichar1
      @rreichar1 Год назад +2

      @@brandcoachtoni Probably more than a sweater would be required to be comfortable. My wife bought a super expensive hoodie from one of the stores on the ship and she was still cold. I generally don’t mind the cold but this was ridiculous. I think many of the issues we experienced were related to a large influx of new/inexperienced crew and large increase in occupancy on our particular cruise. I was told that they had gone from 50% on the previous sailing to about 85% on ours 5 days later. I liked a lot about the cruise but overall the competence that we generally experience on other cruise lines just wasn’t there. I expect that they will get there. I doubt that I can convince my wife to try them again so I may never find out.

    VV at one point said that their average age to that time was 47 with a range of 18-90s. Cruises longer than 7 nights do tend to skew older. I believe that you are cruising in March, so may be getting some of the spring break crowd. I really liked (and totally agree) with your discussion that the entertainment is "up to the edge, but not beyond it." I'm in my 60s and a bit conservative, and there was plenty to do...and yes, the drag queen events were totally advertised that way. Great video - spot on. Just returned from our first Virgin cruise. A lot of great attributes (beautiful ship design, phenomenal food, excellent staff) but the constant loud blaring of GenX music at the pools and common areas every single day killed it for us. It was almost impossible to find a quiet place away from it to just bask in the sun. The younger people liked it, just not for us.
    We took in only a few shows (music artists), not interested in the adult content ones.
    No judgment, just preferred the traditional stuff.
    The best venue on Scarlet Night was the DJ on Deck 7 who provided a great variety of dancing music - so fun.

    Thank you again for doing such an informative and detailed video! Our friends want to go on a couples cruise and they picked out Virgin. I'm loyal to my Royal Caribbean and feared that Virgins since it's adults only would, would be a Lil risqué for me. But thanks to your video i think i might be comfortable enough to go. Since you said that they have toned it down from how it used to be before, and it's not like there are a bunch of naked ppl. We have kids and it would be a refresher to enjoy sone time alone without kids.

My dad unfortunately passed away of cancer and so my mom and myself decided to do a valiant lady cruise in the med last year....that turned into 4 weeks and this year we have 5 weeks. Myself (42) and mom (64) do sunrise yoga, zumba, spinning, circuits classes. She runs on the track. At 11 we go for our healthy green juice. Then lunch we she has a freshly made to order greek salad. I have the avocado sushi rolls and salad. Then evening we go to the wake for a classy dinner. We get dressed up in lovely dresses and go for green tea in the Sip lounge and i have champagne. Sure it does not. “Premium” in one word is space. In two words - space and amenities. In three words….
      This ship is a reprocessed Carnival Conquest class as we look at space ratio. In fact the space ratio is worse than Carnival d/t class division.

    • @LifeWellCruised
      @LifeWellCruised  Год назад

      I’m not sure how the ship is designed for 50+. I’d say it was designed for “younger” but it’s definitely not priced at Carnivals rates (or a similar line), so I’d agree the price is attracting an age group that has the budget

    I was a travel agent for over a decade. I have been on just about every cruise line either by sailing with them or doing a TA cruise inspection . But Virgin wasn't around when I left the industry.
    I'm child free so I love the idea of no kids. I just wasn't sure about it. Someone told me it was like the Henidosm resort on a ship. I did a chartered 80s heavy metal cruise several years ago and that was definitely a wild ship. Our pajama party was the naughty nighty party. But that was a decade ago, 80 pounds lighter, and I was single.
    But after watching your review, I would be willing to give it a try.

    To go on a cruise for us is a luxury as we live in the desert and have to fly, book a port hotel, transfers etc so for us to make worth our time it has to be 7days or longer. I wish your term of "open minded" didn't seem to exclude someone like myself who might be a bit more conservative in my tastes.. I have no problem having options (like the Quest) available to those who enjoy it, it would be nice not be categorized as not open minded if that isn't my cup of tea..
