When I display my Classified series display I always have Conrad Hauser/Duke as the central character as he’s the leader of the team. I’ve got him, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock, Gung-Ho, and Roadblock in my team right now and I’m trying to find Flint and Lady Jaye too. I also hope we get more characters in the line like Shipwreck, Barbecue, Cover Girl, Lifeline, Snow Job, Mutt with Junkyard, Spirit with Freedom, General Hawk, and Wild Bill as well.
In the animated series G.I.Joe renegades Duke has a brother named Vince. Vince is Falcons real name and in the original cartoon Falcon was Dukes brother. So Dukes brother Vince in the renegades episode homecoming might be that shows version of Falcon.
Duke also had a scar on the right side of his face that is a direct reference to the original 12" figures. Scarlet who is changed to out rank Duke, because reasons, calls him Grunt as a dismissive insult. Both under mine the integrity of Scarlet. She has to be the bitch officer who does not respect the NCO's under her. The real characters respected each other in the original comic and cartoon.
Duke, in my opinion, is a Pulp era hero placed in charge of a special missions military force. He's essentially a Doc Savage pastiche operating as the field leader.
Duke’s mother could not have died when he was a kid. In “G.I. Joe: The Movie” (1987), Duke mentioned that his “dying mother” asked him to take care of Falcon (her younger son), back when Falcon joined the Army.

In my eyes when I watched GI Joe the movie, Duke died to save Falcon. It made me love his character more. His death in the movie made Falcon and Joe's stronger. I hate that Hasbro wanted to sincere everything after Optimus died. The Transformers: The Movie is one of my favorites. Even my kids love it.
Next to Snake Eyes as my most favorite Joe. I hated when started getting sidelined, mainly by Flint in the 80's cartoon. I would've been piss if he was killed of in the animated movie. As for the live-action film.

The one action figure I couldn’t find. I saw one Duke action figure when I was a kid, it was in a drug store and I didn’t have any money so I hid him under the gondola thinking I’d come back and get him after I got my allowance. He was gone when I came back.

If you were a child in the era, 1982 1984 time period, Duke used a simple OD green M32 9mm SMG like Stalkers black gun. This was the real HK MP5 9mm. Duke was a E8 First Sgt. In most Army units the "top" was a E-8 but a few had MSGs or master sgts to do office stuff. Rarely were E-7s in charge of entire companies, units.

Duke's wife Clair just does not work. It's a big retcon, oh by the way this was true all along story line. It would have been better if Duke and Clair met and developed a relationship naturally in the IDW series. As Larry Hama explained in Marvel Age #20 (look it up for yourselves), “In the normal scheme of things, you have the Commanding Officer. For the Joes this is Hawk. Under him is an Executive Officer (never specified, though the letter column of G. I. Joe #54 says that XO status rotates between Wild Bill, Cutter, & Ace; personally, either Wild Bill, Stalker or Claymore should’ve been given that role), and then the First Sergeant.” Duke’s 3rd in line command, Never the “Team Leader.” Even Larry had to clarify that often in Postbox: The Pit for the Joe fans too much taken in by the cartoons (as with the False notion that Duke and Scarlett are romantically involved). Duke’s certainly a more likable character than say, Quick Kick, Big Lob, Lady Jaye or Shipwreck, but if one read the comics, every time a mission has strategic importance, he invariably Fails: - Cobra Commander escaped in #24; Storm-Shadow in #25 (despite being locked up in a windowless, dark cell on Alcatraz Island). - He failed to secure Cobra Island II in time (G. I. Joe #41) - His team was outright massacred in G. I. Joe #109. Larry Hama once noted he planned for Hawk and Duke to be more a ‘good cop’/‘bad cop’ of sorts. As for the argument that Hawk & Duke look so similar, he could’ve presented Duke with Nick Fury’s personality when he led the Howling Commandos in World War II. Besides, Larry presented Hawk more like James T. Kirk- a CO who would and does do the Right thing; Not what the ‘book’ or ‘rules and regs’ say.

Chuck Dixon's stories are not that bad. Even if they do have similar faults as a lot of comic book writing does. For the most part I think his writing puts the Joes a little closer to realism than Hama. He also uses little known characters and makes them interesting. I have not seen SJW BS in his stories. The only thing that comes close is how slender female characters slug it out with muscle bound males. But that is a problem with the artist, editor, and the tropes of how comics portray fights in general. That said, the story line were Cobra takes over Myanmar (Burma) and defeats the U.S. Army, a U.N. division, and the Joes in two days with buzz boars is just fucking stupid.
Agreed, not sure why the feel they have to infect everything all to appease the great God " woke", it's bullshit and companies should realize the huge backlash IP's like Star wars got for needless virtue signaling just drives people away instead of making great entertainment that both original and new fans will enjoy.

Eventually people will just get so sick of it and say screw it I'm done playing your stupid games call me what you want I don't care anymore. Sadly that day can't come soon enough for our country and it's probably going to get worse before it gets any better.
