Hello Ian, I was wondering if you would be able to do a video on gun caliber, like how they are measured and what for example 762x23 means. Sorry to bother you with what must be a stupid question but I find your explanations very clear!
@@stevenicholas5651 You are mostly correct but it would still be worth Ian doing a video on it because there are different ways of measuring the bullet diameter (or, rather, some cartridges use one of the dimensions of the bore as the designation and some use the outer diameter of the cartridge case)
A number of us have been lobbying for a "Forgotten Ammo" series, where Ian would explore the people, history and details around the evolution of ammunition. I'd expect it to include the evolution leading to well known/leading-to modern calibers.
@@stevenicholas5651 The first number isn't necessarily the bullet diameter. For example 7.62x25 Tokarev has a bullet diameter of 7.92 and a barrel land diameter of 7.62mm. For that specific cartridge the manufacturer of the ammunition/gun decided to name it based on the land diameter and not the groove diameter. It depends from manufacturer to manufacturer. Similarly, .223 Remington is actually .224" in diameter, not .223, the 7.5x55 Swiss has a bullet diameter of 7.78mm, and 9mm Makarov has a bullet diameter of 9.27mm but a barrel land diameter of 9.00mm.
It would be great if you could do a video on the Czech grenade launchers. They had some very interesting lightweight high velocity (relatively) grenade launchers, in both the Soviet 30mm & prototypes in US/NATO 40x53mm. They were very promising in theory, but seemed to disappear in the cuts of the 90s/early 2000s.
Great video as always, but Utreon seem too be struggling for bandwidth, the video was jumpy as hell , and had to pause for buffering a lot, and the sound was struggling as well :( I hope they can up their game.
I actually kinda like the blue top cover. I've seen in footage of Russian infantry using AKs, they often hold their supporting hand at the magazine rather than the handguard. Seems like it would be less stable, any reason why they do it?
Watched there. Liked here. A question. Is it possible to manually wind up the drum mag as it reaches its last 15 to 20 rounds? Maybe that will make the feeding more reliable?
Now I may be wrong (and someone correct me if I am), but I think if you were to ‘rewind’ the drum...if it’s the style I’m thinking of... it would also pull the follower back, which of course means the rounds aren’t going to feed at all.
A pretty cool AK variant, shame RUclips got pissy about some shooting footage, It's not like we get shooting footage every few days on the channel. Just RUclips being RUclips I guess.
I suspect youtube restraining non-american gun manufacturers. Especialy now that Nato realised they need to adopt stronger ammo like 7,62mm due to progress in bulletproof vests, in which CZ has huge lead.
It could be because of some of RUclips's policies, I believe they dub a machine gun as anything that can fire in full auto and if it can accept a 30 round mag, I'm not too sure on this so I'd have to fact check this.
Is this a new Yubitubi rule? Do they no longer allow videos demonstrating firearms usage? Interesting how they also used luminous paint for their night sights a la Yugoslavia in 1966. I'm kinda surprised they didn't incorporate the tritium vials in the CZ2000.
Although Utreon would. not allow me to sign up and comment, I watched the video other there. I found it entertaining that at 12:06 Ian demonstrates significant muzzle rise on full auto, only to follow it with the statement "but really, minimal recoil that has no significant effect on your ability to control and aim". I suspect that he meant on long bursts, but it was still pretty funny.
I watched the live-fire video. When I was in the US Army, I qualified expert on the M60 (back when one could qual on the M60 in basic training) One of the problems with many SAWs of the older style is the rapid on-off-on in full auto. Notice in your shooting video, the only time it failed to feed or "jammed" was when you were in full-auto and you quickly fired a short burst, let off the trigger for just a split second and returned to full auto fire? That would happen with the belt fed M60, too. The "rule" was never fire less than 7 rounds, let off the trigger and return to firing. There was something about the timing and the short FA runs. We were instructed that if we did fire just a few rounds to wait a second before pulling the trigger again. We were not told why other than "It will cause the weapon to malfunction". Maybe this is one of the reasons it jammed during the live fire (other than the use of the drum). I don't know. It may not have anything to do with it, I just know it would jam on the M60 if fired in such a manner (I'm talking about the Vietnam War-era M60s. I have not fired any of the newer versions.
Hi Ian, very nice video. I just want to tell you, if you are interested, what "Uhersky Brod" means. "Uhersky" means "In Hungary", because "Uhersko" is czech term for old Hungarian empire (1000 - 1918). "Brod" is czech fór "river cross" (not bridge or ferry but on foot or with carriage). So "Uhersky Brod" means "River cross in Hungarian empire"

@@stevenicholas5651 I honestly made up the round, I am not good with gun calibers but thank you!
I think the 9mms of the world videos is a good start because 1 9mm does not equate to everyone's 9mm
CZ should fire up this production line again for the commercial and civilian market. This would sell well in the US.
Oh, RUclips... So much hand-wringing, so much pearl-clutching.
Shoot, Ian missed showing off that that the bipod can be mounted back on the gas port fitting. At least that what it looks like to me.
Ah yes, light, upgraded, improved, the WWSD AK.
Hopefully it enters production soon 😂
*WWKD
It would be great if you could do a video on the Czech grenade launchers. They had some very interesting lightweight high velocity (relatively) grenade launchers, in both the Soviet 30mm & prototypes in US/NATO 40x53mm. They were very promising in theory, but seemed to disappear in the cuts of the 90s/early 2000s.
So basically RUclips's own policies are going to render them superfluous as there are other platforms that don't restrict content
As someone who almost strictly likes the info vids, I ain't mad. The one exception being, I wish he'd start doing the ammunition videos again
I watched this on Utreon instead of here so I could see the whole video.
Had to watch the shooting video then come back for the viewer retention
Great video as always, but Utreon seem too be struggling for bandwidth, the video was jumpy as hell , and had to pause for buffering a lot, and the sound was struggling as well :( I hope they can up their game.
I only had problem with the sound.
Fine for me
I didn't have any problems with it at 1080 on phone even
Did RUclips change its policies again?
Is there a "y" in the day?
I actually kinda like the blue top cover.
I've seen in footage of Russian infantry using AKs, they often hold their supporting hand at the magazine rather than the handguard. Seems like it would be less stable, any reason why they do it?
watching it on Patrion.
@@AtholAnderson Could wind the 'base' the spring sits on, this would tension it more and push the cartridges up with more force
Been there, done that
Over to Utreon after 36 seconds. Well done RUclips.
Great!
Dr. Joachim Sonntag would certainly like this video!
Keep it up!
Graham Baates does a separate video for his "Shooting Impressions." It is a nice format. Perhaps that could work here as well?
Hi Ian, very nice video. I just want to tell you, if you are interested, what "Uhersky Brod" means.
"Uhersky" means "In Hungary", because "Uhersko" is czech term for old Hungarian empire (1000 - 1918).
"Brod" is czech fór "river cross" (not bridge or ferry but on foot or with carriage).
So "Uhersky Brod" means "River cross in Hungarian empire"
Just watched the proper video over on U.
Cool :)
👍 I'm back, it shoots nicely and attractive weapon.
To Utreon we go
This thing gives me Army MoDuLaR vibes almost like the M69W. The idea is great but Ive never seen it implemented well, outside of the AK family.
Please show us the next part Ian, where you buy a t-shirt with the blueprints on it from the gift shop ! Haha 😅
Kind of strange that RUclips is unhappy about content that is already widely available on the platform. I suppose it is their platform to curate…as it is our choice to view or not view.
They can either be a bulletin board or a publisher... knowing the difference and why is what separates the lemmings from the sheep...
Come on youtube! Free the footage!
Goodbye youtube. Hello Utreon.
Drum magazines don't work is why happiness is built-fed.
You can cast utreon to your TV from your phone by the way
I really like this platform, would be cool to see them imported here like various RPK models are.
Having to edit out the fun recoil and aroma therapy segment of the video makes me sad. Don't compromise dude.
Have you done any comparison videos?
Speciffically comparing the M1, to to K98 to the British Lee Enfield
I've seen the one with the BAR vs the Bren
I care bout shooting and watch time so I shall watch this twice
Ug, it appears that proper videos are on Utreon and the nerfed version of those videos are on RUclips. That's not just for Forgotten Weapons.
those sling rings look like repurposed grenade pin rings
I love 'mystery features'...
Really like utreon
Just checked out the vid on Utreon, that drum mag was garbage but definitely had drip. Looks like a sweet gun to shoot and I kinda like the blue handguard. Adds a little flair without looking like it's trying to.
Have you ever done a video on the norinco nh91 (Chinese RPK)?... I have one and the videos are hard to find..
I just went on utreon and the first thing I saw was a Got Milk ad. from 1995.
