Speaking of daily sketching, have you done a sketch for our holiday challenge yet? If not, set a goal to submit something today at proko.com/challenge.
Eliza Ivanova is a whole inspiration factory! Her approach to daily sketching and experimenting without pressure is a game-changer. The way she plays with shapes, minimalism, and overlapping images is pure genius. Definitely dusting off my sketchbook after this one! 🔥
right now i have my own challange i try to sketch all 151 kanto pokemon every day i draw one entire evolution and i see improvement in my lines and stuff
8:07 I definitely agree with having ready to use tools. I love watercolors, but I think they can be a hassle sometimes, and pencils and pens are always ready , easy to bring and they don't require drying time. Also, when I buy a paper that wasn't as great as I thought it was, it often fits with another medium.
The sketches are so beautiful. I used to study art and love to draw. I haven’t drawn in a decade and I am afraid to…but I think I can do 1 sketch a day. Maybe if I do 10-20 minutes sketches? I am short on time as I have a baby as well…
Fitting that kind of practice in can be hard. But if you can set aside the kind of time that you mentioned for it, it can be a good respite from all of the other things you have to do as a parent. We hope you're able to give that a try at some point!
Great video with Eliza. I have recently started doing references from videos, so it's good to know an actual pro does the same. Also, I get very hard on myself if I don't practice daily, there is that urgency. Good to know that I'm not crrazy and pros are like that as well. Those pentel red tip leads for the mechanical pencils are beautiful.
@danielwilliams7161 I always want to see a mangaka's personal drawings because they usually draw for work and the person whose drawings I'm most curious about is Urasawa. He has a RUclips channel, but he usually draws the character he has drawn before. I've always been curious about Urasawa's personal drawings. I hope they bring it to this channel.
I've just started drawing for realsies. I draw every day. But it's the same thing. The human anatomy, faces bodies , boobs... you know, the usual😅. But I'm not learning anything new from it. What do you suggest i draw? I saw where someone said they draw all the different Pokémons. What else could be a good subject?
I suggest drawing the figures in a setting. Backgrounds are a subject all by themselves. If you feel like you’ve plateau’d with figures, try putting them in a scene. Draw a woman drinking coffee in a kitchen. A man or child in a market. It will allow you to keep hoping your figure drawing while learning new textures and adding a sense of story.

I wish proko forgets and continue this series forever so much to learn as a beginner
Love this series, Ivanova is a master of simplicity, her portrait sketches are beautiful, she’s a magician w a pencil and stump!

I'd love to hear his thoughts on writing. His characters are always so convincing and human. Stan Sakai would be a fun one too

I wish this didn’t give me anxiety to draw but I was anxious to draw already 😅
i was waiting for this one :D
Anyone knows where to get the blending tool that she uses?
Does anyone know what Eliza used for shading, please? Was it some kind of charcoal stick?
probably a blending stump
9:05 yes large blending stump & pencils
Is that gesture drawings?

I will draw nothing but realistic temperatures, taste and sounds in my new sketch pads . I do like a challenge .
