- I was around the corner doing another job when I drove past this property and just had to stop and knock on the door and offer to do a free makeover. This is actually another government housing property and the tenant really needed some help. The lady living here is a single mum with two young children, and she was fining it difficult to look after the yard. She was actually thrilled when I offered to do a free makeover, but also asked to remain anonymous (the same as everyone I have asked so far). Now there is somewhere for the children to play! Not only that, but she was so happy with the effort that I put in, she bought me a box of chocolates (Baileys Truffles) and a nice handwritten card. The chocolates were delicious, I highly recommend them 😉. This episode was originally going to cover the front and back, but the front took longer than expected. All up, I spent around 14 hours on the front and went to the landfill 3 times. This is part 1 of 2.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

I couldn’t agree more @marlenesmith! I don’t need real time on mowing, weeding etc., just want to see the end results mostly. The no music is wonderful. I always have to minimize the volume when RUclipsrs play it. It’s annoying (in my opinion)

I am starting to realize if it is very short it is a repeat. I am getting the hang of this. Plus you are definitely one of my favs. You remove the debris and that is a big plus. American ones don't seem to want to do that , they call it mulching and the grass is so long that no way it can be mulched. anyway, i really enjoy watching you work, could watch it all day, lol

George Of Eden good day. I watched this video a few times as 1 of my favourites. At times u hear people say I'm stuck in a small space and it's making me sick. Oh ya, correct. See the works u do that transform places so beautifully. It turns out to be the space ain't so small at all. One don't always need to go out elsewhere. Open the door and go out. With all the unwanted greenery gone, power washed pavements. It's a breath of fresh air in itself. ❤

This was such a tremendous amount of work, just amazing that you tackle this head on. Difference of night and day! I often wonder, what does the owner do then, after such a clean up…do they try to keep it up, or just lay back and let it all go again? So many people should not have these big yards and properties. They cannot handle all the work and expense .
