Never seen a Goldeye before I thought maybe it was a Whitefish but the mouth was definitely different. Nice day floating that river. Seeing you catching those walleye was making me hungry for a fish dinner. Great video Sean !
Excellent video, Sean. Started slow, but the second half of the float was really on fire. I really enjoyed this one. What an awesome day on the Red Deer River. Awesome multi-species fishing. 👍
Great action! Id love to get goldeyes on lures. The rivers I catch them have almost zero visibility. Worms gets the job done. That sauger was a stunner! Nice size too!
Epic video. You captured the day very well! Still a little bit jelous of that sauger!😂 Tons of great Goldeye and Walleye catches. Very cool seeing your point of view on the day. Deffinetly a great trip to remember!
Absolutely beautiful river n scenery!! Beautiful Sauger. Such a great looking fish. Congrats on the Goldeye! Never saw one before. You were ripping them up 💪🏻. Looks like a great fighting fish. They part of the Shad family? Nice Walleye at 7:00 I can see how you would lose count😂 What a great float!! Great stuff Sean!
Crazy, it looked like there were some shallow spots, but obviously, some deeper pockets where you were connecting on fish. The goldeye really shot off like rockets when you released them. 20 in that pool is wild!
any moon eye.that looks like your around drumheller or east of there.went fishing to lake macgregor last week, man it has dropped water level.i could walk out a few more feet from were i normally stand.
Beautiful area indeed, last time i tried for goldeye there, river was low and weather was hot, slow bite for sure. Goldeye is fun to catch, but man is tastes terrible (and i've eaten carp most of my younger ears lol)
great video, where did you start and exit? i want to start at the Tolman Bridge, but exut points im not sure of been my lifetime dream to do a multi day float fish and camp 🏕 down there. and smoked gold eye is awsome
We started at McKenzie Crossing and exited at Dry Island Buffalo Jump. We had plans to go all the way to Tolman, but the day got too long on us. The exit point for Tolman is Starland, but that is a very long float
Never seen anything like that first fish before. Looked a bit like a dog fish. Good job your a float on the water as it took a while to contact the fish. That would be a lot harder on foot from the bank. Unlike you when we hit plentiful fish we would switch the lure. Try and find out more about what we use. Its more about building a box of confidence. So if the first few lures fail, we don't suddenly think. SHIT I am going to have a tough day. We can't afford a negative. But what a way to spend a few hours drifting down that river with all those fish. Oh don't much fancy your lunch box mate. Chicken and a canny for me.

Thanks, we have both Goldeye and Mooneye. Easiest way to tell them apart is the mooneye has a silver eye.
Goldeye, walleye and even a sauger awesome! Alberta river valleys are just beautiful 🤙😎
Just an amazing place, will be going back for sure
Great adventure and beautiful spot. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
With the red deer being such a shallow river you really have to focus your fishing on those deeper pools. Nice video Sean!
Thanks, yep those pools hold a lot of fish
Excellent video, Sean. Started slow, but the second half of the float was really on fire. I really enjoyed this one. What an awesome day on the Red Deer River. Awesome multi-species fishing. 👍
Thanks Dan, what an amazing location. Looking forward to getting back there
Absolutely beautiful spot! From floating to wading and catching fish! Great trip!!
Thanks, such an amazing day
So beautiful spot
It really is!
Nice catches. That wide shallow river is perfect for a kayak
Yep, it was fantastic

Thanks, yes it was nice to get that Suager for sure.
Always nice to try a new spot and some nice catches after a slow start. Terrific multi-species session, job well done Sean!
Thanks Larry, such a fun day
Fantastic day you had out there, brother! Looks like so much fun!😎🎣
It was indeed, thanks
Man, you hammer those gold eyes that's awesome. I can't wait until next year and get my kayak so I can explore the river 😀 great video Sean
You get a kayak and I'll have to make plans to drag mine to Saskatchewan 😉
@@differentfins alright!!!
I will join both of you there!
Had never heard of goldeye, but that is a really nice fish.
Thanks, pretty common here. We also have mooneye
That's awesome. I have always wanted to catch a goldeye. Great walleye too. That looked like a really nice river to float. 👍
So much fun to catch, thanks for watching
Very cool! I'm glad you had a good time! Thank you for sharing my friend!
You betm thanks Mark
Excellent stuff my man! Beautiful world we live in and Awesome fish I have never caught myself! Laying into them.💯🤙👍
Thanks, yes it sure was an amazing day
Awesome location Sean! The view is amazing! Great day of fishing out there. Those Goldeye's are a cool looking fish.
Thanks, it was such a fun day - will be doing it again next year for sure
Goldeye are beauty fish. I’ve been told best way to eat them is smoked. Gonna save some this winter and maybe try.
Yesm I have had them smoked, they are great. If I had a smoker I would have kept some

Thanks, so much fun. Still thinking about it.

Thanks Chris, no they are not related to shad even though they look like them. We have two different species here, goldeye and mooneye.
Crazy, it looked like there were some shallow spots, but obviously, some deeper pockets where you were connecting on fish. The goldeye really shot off like rockets when you released them. 20 in that pool is wild!
Yep, I am sure if we had more time we could have doubled that. They were stacked in that one spot.
Awesome video, enjoy your time
Thank you so much
great video. They look like they pull hard for sure. They remind me of what we refer to as gizzard shad where I live
Interesting, will look them up. We have another species that is almost identical buth ey have silver eyes. They are called Mooneye
Як завжди чудова риболовля 👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment
wow amazing
Thanks
Nice!
Thanks!

Yes, there was one mooneye caught, but not by me. Water levels are down in a lot of lakes, crazy this year

They are good if you smoke them, never tried them any other way
Beautiful videos, how long was the float? Where did you start? I have yet to float the red deer! Keep the videos coming!
It took about 7 hours, but we stopped a lot for breaks and to fish some areas from the bank. We started at McKenzie Crossing
great video, where did you start and exit?

Thanks Shaun. People have been asking whats in the lunch box so now I show it every time. Try to keep it a bit healthy, lol.
