Excellent video. I do wish Ovika didn't cost quite so much mana. Not being in green makes it tricky to cast early, but that effect is so powerful. An upgrade I'd probably recommend if someone built it is to add Magnus the Red from the Warhammer precons. Magnus synergizes with Ovika's ability so well.
Graaz Unstoppable Juggernaut would be another solid addition, Yes it makes Ovika a 5/3 instead of a 6/6 but making all of those 1/1 tokens into 5/3 tokens could very well be gaming ending when cast at the right time.
Played vs Ovika a couple weeks ago and what a scary card. To easily power this deck even more- Skirk Prospector will carry games EASILY. Sacrifice your extra goblins for more mana to just make your games truly onesided.
With how expensive commander can seem to a begginer, I think this "precon" level decks are excelent. (tho also for budget players) I'm very happy because I just built Ovika to play tomorrow, and my build followed a very similar path, I don't think Ovika's MV is as much of a problem with so much token generators and spells, it should be enough to keep the deck doing It's thing, until Ovika can be played.
These are super cool. My biggest regret with these is that to buy them, you actually have to pay the price of all the cards. Imo one of the best parts of the precons is the big discount on cards you get. An example: my chaos incarnate deck cost me 22$+3$ shipping but has ~60$ in cards. Sure it's a lot of junk, but those little costs and shipping costs add up when buying a full deck. That being said, I love this concept, and it really helps people both figure out what a good deck looks like and how to construct a deck without throwing every 20$ card they can find in there. Thanks for making this.
Fantastic concept and a very solid deck, Ovika is SO cool. Has so many options and "upgrade" options that could take her in various ways. You add in something like Brudiclad and you could go a an instant/sorc creature copy route and then use Brudiclad to turn all those Goblins into better creatures. Go Magnus the Red route and all your tokens now make your Instant and Sorc spells cheaper. Very cool idea, defo looking forward to seeing what other "Build-Your-Own-Precon" content makers come up with.
Excellent video! The "build your own precon" concept really speaks to me and gets me excited. Mainly because they contain fun budget builds with extra customization options, which is what I love about the WOTC precons usually as well :)
I love this concept from the professor and I'm hyped you're expanding on it. The idea of a spellslinger deck with a token payoff sounds very fun to me. I would be tempted to add Lithoform Engine to copy the trigger or alternatively a spell
i work at a card shop, i rarely play magic, but keep up with it due to it being part of the job. i use to have a CEDH jhoira (wl cap) sold it due to it being too high of a power level also having a lightning rod commander wasn't fun. i love izzet/grixxus and spell slinging. i'll rummage through the magic room, we should have all this to make it and i'll try it out.
Absolutely loving this concept that Kidintheoffice and the Prof. have run with and inspiring others to make similar content. And this is certainly a strong showing for Ovika, showcasing spellslinging, tokens, and Stolen Strategy effects within UR.
I like how y'all have decided to do the precon cause it's a awesome starting cheaper deck that works well. If I may, one of my favorite commanders was teneb, he was my first real commander and I ran some serious fun stuff.
Just pulled this sucker. It's a alter art version and it is so cool like I think I'm gonna have to build it. This looks like a fun little build that I can grow and change as I find its own place in my other decks
Noone talks about the old mtg card: Drain Power UU Sorcery Target player activates a mana ability of each land they control. Then that player loses all unspent mana and you add the mana lost this way.
I feel like Animatou's augury could be an insane bomb especially if you find a way to copy it. I have one in my deck currently and I was able to get a really good trigger off of it. Also Levitation goes a long way. Also....Siege Gang commander, maybe an ashnod's alter, warstorm surge? AYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I mean the precon comes with an additional small booster, my last precon i got a full art Bootleggers' Stash, which paid for the whole precon at the time
So I loved this video so much I built the deck, the only differences was a couple lands that I had to swap cause I didn't have the proper ones. Going to play it for the first time tomorrow night so we'll see how it plays :D
I really hope you keep doing the build your own precon, I got to try the ria and enjoyed it a lot. I'm already looking to see what other ones you have so I can make more
My favorite is to combo Sanguine Bond with Exquisite Blood and hit my opponents with a bolt. My other favorite is gaining 400 life then attaching Cobbled Wings, Eldrazi Conscription, and Corrupted Concience to Serra Avatar and and swinging at all 3 people at once. More than enough to deal 10 poison counters to each. I think it's hilarious to just up and win out of nowhere.
Loving you and Prof doing these decks, it's awesome. I love Ovika. Also think some your deck works with Mizzix, replica rider from jumpstart 2022. I like both as commanders and struggle with a decision, ultimately want to also play opponents stuff too lol
Loved the deck, I was trying to build something around Ovika since I got two, this seems fun and cheap! I wanted to ask you, why is there a difference in price (I'm watching the video now and the price is 81.32 usd on Moxfield, do you leave the commander or lands out of the price? Thank you and love this kinds of videos!
you might have to make sure you're viewing the right vendor. If you have your default prices set to something OTHER than Card Kingdom you'll see a different price
@@CommanderMechanic also going to do most of the upgrade minus jeska's will (mainly because I already own a playset of impact tremors lol). I'm hyped for it, this deck seems real fun
Agreed. I copied this deck with only a few land changes and while the deck is good, chaos wand is definitely the first cut. If you hit a dud, which i did in my last game, that can mean the difference between losing or winning. I am going to change it out for a skirk prospector to help with mana.
This is basically the Prismari Performance precon but with a different commander. I'm honestly considering using the big spells in the precon for this and the rest for a veyran spellslinger deck

I like the trend the Prof started by calling a budget brew a precon. It’s entertaining.

hell ya, a lot of this is bulk save for a few cards - and on a $45 budget anyone can enjoy it!
Sweet video, I love the "build your own precon" idea and seeing more people do it. Ovika just grabs me, and your deck looks fun!

This was sweet. I’m current building a high powered Ovika. But I like to have lower powered versions of my deck to swap out with
Just pulled this sucker. It's a alter art version and it is so cool like I think I'm gonna have to build it. This looks like a fun little build that I can grow and change as I find its own place in my other decks
That's insane, i wanted to do this commander and u just decided me to build it
thanks brother !
Glad I could help
Noone talks about the old mtg card:
Drain Power
UU
Sorcery
Target player activates a mana ability of each land they control. Then that player loses all unspent mana and you add the mana lost this way.
This is such a sweet deck! Well done.
Love it! Definitely want to see more budget content
Love the deck! I'm currently brewing with this awesome commander, and I like this take indeed
Glad you enjoy it!

Thanks for the list! Imma gonna try it with my playgroup! My Venser Corpse Puppet does not seem to be doing well at all. 😅

Ahh that’s awesome!! Good luck!
@@CommanderMechanic update: played 2 games with the deck and won both, Surge to Victory being the MVP for both games that closed it out
I really hope you keep doing the build your own precon, I got to try the ria and enjoyed it a lot. I'm already looking to see what other ones you have so I can make more
Amazing, glad you're enjoying them!
I'm liking and subscribing to channel because I hope this becomes a trend for all edh channels

For the upgrades, what cards would you recommend to cut for the upgrades? For me personally, the first cut I would do is chaos wand IMO.
I would also cut all the other etali-like cards as they don't offer much in terms of power if you hit duds in you're enemies deck.
I love this but I would definitely add krenko and Magnus the red
Loving you and Prof doing these decks, it's awesome. I love Ovika. Also think some your deck works with Mizzix, replica rider from jumpstart 2022. I like both as commanders and struggle with a decision, ultimately want to also play opponents stuff too lol
Magnus the Red and Ovika were made for one another.
This is great!!! Please make it a series!!!
Stay tuned to the channel for more

Ovika is an amazing commander.
you might look at magnus the red from the warhammer decks to turn the goblin tokens into cost reduction
Is this the rise of budget deck techs again?
they never went anywhere, but this may be a push to higher visibility
Would running magnus the red be better over ovika?
i think it's a fine pivot, but magnus works well only when you have a token generator out so it's more consistent to have one in the CZ
Yea let’s get more videos like this 🎉
I was planning on doing goblin tribal with this commander:)
How to you calculate your pricing for the deck?
Moxfield's TCG Player pricing; you may need to switch your default from CK to TCG Player.
Homie, i love the video. But how do I get that box template?
I made it, once I'm really happy with it I'll share it
I’m kinda suprised the demon that makes spells cheaper based off your tokens isn’t in bere
I like these videos so u don't have to buy sealed product but singles and proxies
Not gonna lie I might build this deck, it's very neat
Hell ya!
@@CommanderMechanic also going to do most of the upgrade minus jeska's will (mainly because I already own a playset of impact tremors lol). I'm hyped for it, this deck seems real fun
i ordered this deck and a freakin love it
ahhh that's awesome to hear!
krenko mob boss could work too
the spice
Yo, chaos wand is a bad card, use instead wand of wonder, so much better.

Also paying 4 mana is just too much for practically what dazzling sphinx does when it does damage.
I read this as Casting Couches.
that's on orange youtube
Love the concept but the prices are never 45$ they are always 80 plus
Depends on the vendor you choose to be your display vendor in Moxfield.
@Commander Mechanic tcg is the cheapest and it's still never 45$
Arcane Bombardment
mentioned in the upgrades ;)
This is basically the Prismari Performance precon but with a different commander. I'm honestly considering using the big spells in the precon for this and the rest for a veyran spellslinger deck
Great content, Subscribadoodles
This feels like the start of a new format, buy a Precon or spend $45 and under, go ham!
