Well up to version 1903, the system image gets corrupted due to Windows Update errors. Happened to me twice. In both cases I performed an in-place upgrade, also called a repair install, which fixed the WU mess. Repair install lets me keep my apps and files.

@Nobby Barnes If you know Very little about Windows... Keep it that way.
Get rid of it ASAP and install Linux Mint, It is Free, It is stable, It works, It is fast, No viruses, and "You" choose when "You" want to do updates.
It even has alternative software for every windows app!

I use DISM quite a lot for backing up images, its got some neat features, the only downside is the backups are specific to the version of dism that created them - other than that DISM is a real swiss army knife

Even though running the commands you posted, showed no issues in my PC, somehow the PC is now running better, not so unstable.
So something must have been repaired or made right somewhere in the process.
I surely will keep these commands pinned as I was only familiar with 1 of the commands before viewing your video.
I want to thank you deeply and sincerely for posting these to help Win 10 owners who are having issues on their PC's.
I am sure I will be using these whenever a challenge comes up on my machines in the future that the SFC/SCANNOW does not find or fix.
    Thanks again!

In my experience of over 5000 Windows 10 installs (both upgrades and clean installs), Windows Restore is always enabled however Windows default space is enough for just one restore point. I always increase that to triple the default.

I used this (refresh) to fix my Laptop. Worked fine for a few weeks until MS came out with a feature update 1093 that again clobbered my laptop to where I could only shut it down or do trouble shoot. Unable to restore from restore point, or do a refresh. I couldn't find a command prompt to try the other commands in this video which is very, very good. Ended up loading Ubuntu on it as I wasn't going to pay for another windows fresh install.

    Hi. Thanks for the video.
    I have question:
May windows has a problem and after I login to it, it just show me 2seconds the desktop and then it start showing the blue or black screen without showing any error lines or code or ...
I use Ctrl-Alt delete to restart and go to command prompt. After I execute the command ( sfc / scannow) it gives me this :
Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.
Itried everything like restore point ( it couldnt find it) , i tried reset to the factory (keeping my file and reset), i tried safe mode and it couldnt open in safe mode.
I would like to know your opinion and suggestion. Any solution ?

Have a question regarding the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim when I had to use that command in the past I had to specify a path out to an install.wim file on a USB flash drive. In your case was the "repairSource" a folder off the system32 directory on the VBox you were running the demo on?

    • @Britec09
      @Britec09  4 года назад +2

      The DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim
Will be for example: (USB from Media Creation Tool where E is drive letter of USB)
      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\Sources\Install.esd:1 /limitaccess
I forgot to mention it in the video, sorry about that.

    Thanks for new info.
and also in addition try this to save the scanned sfc to text files. So you'll gonna able to see the prob and the scanned files.
    after scanning
    sfc /scannow
    type this
    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >> "%userprofile%\desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

    • @bobblum5973

Many commands can be run while redirecting their standard output to a new file using " > _filename.ext_ " or appended to an existing file the same way only using " >> " instead. If that doesn't work and you still see the comand output but the log file is empty, you can redirect standard error output using " 2> " or " 2>> " the same way.
Another good trick is piping the command output to the "clip" utility like this: " dir | clip ". That puts the output into the Windows clipboard, so you can switch to a Windows program and paste it in.

my mother's laptop had a strange screen pop up a few days after doing her taxes on turbo tax. said that her computer had been corrupted. we called the number on the screen. and some it tech person answered and came onto the computer and wanted for us to pay $899 automatic or $799 manually said that we didn't have any protection on our computer and we needed to install some malware protection. We declined of course. Not sure if this was a scam but we haven't used the computer since. but when we turned the computer on again it was at the C:\windows\system32> administrator: cmd.exe command. freaked out. but found your you tube video above and followed you to a tee. System Restore has a new flaw, I think. It's happened a few times already with different installations: when I have a some folders with program executable files in them that are used to install different programs (for example, bleachbit.exe, 7-zip.exe, peazip-6.9.2.WIN64.exe, ChromeSetup.exe --- and so on) the system restore point removes ALL those executable files but leaves all the other files within those folders intact (for example, in the folder "Chrome" I have a notepad file with directions on how to disable the hover tabs [thanks Brian!] and that remains intact even though the executable setup file is gone). This has happened a number of times. If I use System Restore to undo that restore point, they re-appear. This is an astounding flaw, and I think it's relatively new with versions 1903 and 1909. Always back up everything, and then back up your backups and make sure that the backups are good. When you try to restore to a previous point, Microsoft basically states "Your files will remain untouched" --- well, not anymore. They touch them, and randomly delete them.

    Hello;
Thank you for all you do.
I wish I'd seen this BEFORE I formatted my Win 10 ssd.
It was corrupt, couldn't even boot into it.
    I have a win7 ssd, a mx linux, ssd, 2 hdds, & the win 10 ssd.
I'm not a fan of Win 10, so far its been just crap & the appearance isn't even close to my win7 desktop.
    I've been getting the BCD/ error & the stop code 0xc0000098 .
I'll have to reinstall now --win7 then Win10 again, I guess.
You may consider a video to help those like me that installed Win 10--before it crapped on me.
    Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

Hey there .. what could be the reason of my HP laptop which keeps shutting down out of the blue and sometimes when I unplug the charging cable ?

That is probably a hard ware problem. Before you see if it is a hardware problem, look up some yt tutorials for power options.

I followed all your instructions and everything went like you said it would, it got to 30% resetting and then said that there was a problem. So I’m back to square one. Isn’t there anything else I can do to reset it to its factory settings? Help!!

@@ShivamKumar-ru3pj So run the following commands:
      1. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
      2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
      3. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Dont go to command Nr4 if you dont have a backup and dont have enought knowledge to do it. Till command Nr4 you will have your problem solved and you will not take any risk :)

Very informative thanks. Will you be making a video about win 10: system boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. Corrupt win10, the computer will not boot. The only way I found to fix it is by re installing windows 10. I tried system recovery CD but using command prompt (x:) it will not even show the C drive. Just a suggestion.
