    Definitely up for: The Echoes by Evie Wyld, Gliff/Glyph by Ali Smith, My Good Bright Wolf by Sarah Moss,
    And have now added :Time of the Flies by Claudia Pineiro, She’s Always Hungry by Eliza Clark, Hum by Helen Phillips
    Thank you!

    I’ve got the Wyld, the Phillips, the Moss, the Ogawa, and the Pineiro here waiting to be read. I am about halfway through The Echoes but haven’t picked it up for quite some time. I was finding the time spent in Australia to be very dull. I will go back and finish it at some point. I was surprised how much longer the new Pineiro book is too. And the font is not the most comfortable for tired eyes. But I am looking forward to reading it. Hum is probably the next one in this group that I’ll get to. Just picked up Rumaan Alam’s new one yesterday. Not sure if it will be anything like Leave the World Behind (which I loved), but I’m going to give it a go! I will take a look at the new Max Porter.

    Always here for an Ali Smith - I’ve read everything I think, so having or reread until a new one arrives! My favourite Evie Wyld so far is After the Fire but I haven’t got to the new one yet. And great to have a new Claudia Pineiro - Elena Knows was my favourite book that year too, such an interesting discussion of female body autonomy from the perspective of someone who has virtually lost all autonomy through her health.

      @@jenvcampbell I have now read it and I have thoughts! I loved that it was an easy, nostalgic read. I had a lovely time reading it. HOWEVER...I wanted more of the friendship between the girls! And I really did not like the relationship that took over most of the book, a lot of it gave me the Ick! In the same sentence she was describing him as being 'lovely', then listing all the horrible things he did. Also I didn't like how it was indicated that she must be gay because she didn't like the way a man was acting around her. He was just a dick! I'm very happy I read it and was able to revisit it years later but I was also really disappointed!

    • @jenvcampbell
      @jenvcampbell  Месяц назад +1

      @@katyfolk3433 It's tricky, as I believe that a lot of it was based on the author's own experiences re. coming out. I loved a lot about it - despite the absolute lack of character development from teenagers to 40-somethings, ha. I would have loved more of their friendship, too, though, and more about her family, actually. Also, the errors made me giggle, and I'm surprised no one caught them in the editing process. For instance, Mr. Windsor was never called Gary; his name was Guy! x
