IF I DIDN'T INCLUDE SOME OF THE DC HARDCORE BANDS IN THERE THAT COVERED "STEPPING STONE", LET ME KNOW.
"Stepping Stone" was a song originally written by Paul Revere and the Raiders/the Monkees in 1966, when it got into the DC punk rock scene (because of the Sex Pistols's infamous cover of the "Stepping Stone", that bands from the capital's area got probably influenced by). Every DC's hardcore band totally abused it. Almost every Dischord's hardcore band covered it.
Here I've collected some of the reinterpration of the "Stepping Stone", done by the following DC bands:
    1. Teen Idles (early) - 0:00 (demo, early 1980)
    2. Teen Idles - 2:17 (live, @ 9.30 Club, Late 1980)
[The first version is taken from Teen Idles' first demo, and the second is from their last show, the band has really changed its style through the lifespan of Teen Idles (a year) so I've deciced to put two different versions in here.]
    3. Untouchables - 4:39 (demo, @ Hit & Run, July 1980)
    4. State Of Alert (S.O.A.) - 6:52 (demo, @ Inner Ear, December 1980, "Flex Your Head" LP)
    5. Minor Threat - 8:42 ("In My Eyes" EP)
    6. Government Issue (G.I.'s) - 10:53 (demo, late 1980)
    7. Iron Cross - 11:00 (live, @ 9.30 Club, March 1982)
    8. Peer Pressure - 13:47 (live, @ 9.30 Club, December 1981)
[An obscure harDCore group, there's little information about the band, Danny from Youth Brigade and Toni Young from Red C played with them. Peer Pressure recorded a demo tape back in 1981 (if im correct??), but it never made it way into an internet age, they were supposed to be a part of Bad Brains' 1982 east coast compilation, this project got abandoned and Peer Pressure never ended up on any record.]
    9. Youth Brigade - 15:21 (live, @ Chancery, November 1981; their last show)
    10. Faith - 17:11 (live, @ CBGB's, NYC, December 1981)

Last time I heard this one was on maximum rock and roll with Tim and the gang around 1981...Miss those days of musical diversity...

The early teen idles one is totally Sex Pistols (although with the original Paul Revere/Monkees lyrics). Guess it took some time for Ian to make is his own?

Damn dude its so cool to hear the demo version and then the last recording back to back of Teen Idles playing Stepping Stone. It's like watching the fruits of a year of practice compressed into 4 minutes. Thanks for the upload!
