Neil, just an FYI, I used to own a 95 Honda Civic LX automatic with all of 102 HP in stock form, no VTEC. With some hotter spark plugs installed I could hit 120 in it, but no further due to the rev limiter.
@@bigyammer He commented in the video wondering if it would break 100 mph, based on his experience with the 96-00 model. But there are a number of 4 cylinder cars which can, and could back then too, do 150.
@@BlastGT1 i mean, I pushed my '93 MR2 up to 150mph and it's a bloody NA, not even turbo. Sure, acceleration from 130-150 was slow but I got there. In a 4 banger that's 30 years old
I have a friend who used to own a 99 civic with a manual 1.4L (whopping 90hp) and even that could reach 210km/h (just over 120mph I think), you just needed a looooong straight 😂
Love the mention of the Monte Carlo at the end, was actually thinking exactly that 5 seconds before you said it. I have a 2004 Intimidator in my garage right now
Kyle is a dick. He used to bring his kid to the gokart track I used to work at and demanded his son go by himself despite the kid being too small to even fit the kart 😂
0:15 - FYI that’s a 96-98 Civic. The 99-00 model was a facelifted version, though it has the 99-00 taillights oddly. 4:13 - also oddly it has the look and badging of the LX model but has the engine (looks anyway) of the Si/SiR model.
I miss the old 90's - early 2000's Civics. Too bad you can NEVER find one stock that wasn't given to a freshman in college that ragged the shit out of them. I dare to say a used STOCK Civic CRX Si is damned near impossible to find.
If we're putting in requests, I'll take a 2000-2004 Ford Focus. 4 Door Sedan, 5 Door Wagon, and the 3 and 5 door Hatchback. Wagon first. I have one of those. I will give you ANY photos you want of it to make it happen!
Trunk space was pretty roomy… unless it’s a hybrid where the battery takes up a third of the trunk and dies less than 10 years later (and essentially totaling it). Still like the car, just not the hybrid’s technology at the time.
I am literally looking up the 2004 Monte Carlo SS for a future purchase. I used to drive the LS version with a broken CD player. I didn't have Bluetooth or USB in the car and no tape deck. The radio would be entertaining enough for me back then, but now, not a chance.
mufflers were always wiggly back then lol the people who welded or bolted the muffler down ended up with the exhaust pipe bending with the chassis and creating cracks in the pipes
Stay righteous, Neil. You tuning into the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend? 500k miles is bonkers. I've driven Priuses since '09 and can get them up to around 200K before their brain become pretty unreliable. Anyways, stay up, dude. Keep up the great work as always ;) ETA - "WHY ARE WE STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY?!?" yeah bro, can relate verbatim hahah
Do you and your wife still on the civic or did it just die after reaching 500k miles. and its great to hear you and your wife been together since high school, quite rare that is so respect to you man
I kid you not as soon as you ripped the muffler off and started driving at 5:54 on que I hear a car outside that sounded exactly the same. Not sure if it was a civic but it sounded almost on par with the game.
Got my first car, a 97 coupe. Still have it, and it's still my favorite car. Looks like a normal car from the 2000s but put a few mods and looks like a sports car. (Still got civic speed though 😂)
Looking to get one of these as my first car when I have enough, there cheap for how reliable they are but £2500 is still £2500 for a running and road legal one, I'd like an SI coupe but a sedan will be fine. Also keep doing more everyday car mods they're still really cool.
Heh. i had a 1987 Monte Carlo Square Nose 305 (not an SS), an a 2003 Monte (also not an SS). Funny thing about the 2000's Monte's...the SS barely had any more horsepower than the N/A versions, at least not when it comes to maintenance for hp over cost. Loved my '87...HATED my 2003. Same junk 6-pot GM put into everything of that year. Ran the wheels an paint off the '87 until damned near 276k miles when I bought used an abused, but the '03 only had 97+k an blew the trans two years later an the motor was already going.
If you talking about it makes a mod happen I will come back and thank you millions times over the early 2000's Monte Carlo is an amazing car and deserves more respect and attention in the racing communities as it's last appearance in a game was a little game called Ford Vs Chevy as a starter car on the Chevy side
I own a 2000 Honda CRV SE AWD and I'd love to see that in Beamng Drive. There is a mod that's close but, not quite there. Certain aspects are different and it just doesn't look right.
unfortunately this civic was not the same as the one offered here in the US. the civic type R was only available in the hatch back body style of this generation. And the model is the SI R not sir. just fyi.
So you're the one driving through my neighborhood at 3 am
And apparently mine too

Old Civics were the best. Even when they did blow up you could just buy a 30k mile motor for 500 bucks and swap it out in a couple of hours.
if you manage to blow up a Honda engine you shouldn't be allowed near cars :D
