Cameron, the Westside is very similar to Rio Rancho in some aspects. However, Rio Rancho is its own city. Have you spent much time in New Mexico previously?
I moved here from Chicago nearly 25 years ago. Live in the NE heights (in a much more middle class sort of neighborhood). I do like the closeness to the mountains (about 5 minutes to a nice hiking trail in the foothills), but I do really like Nob Hill. Not moving though... Pretty far from being a "young professional" at 74. Happy to see a channel about NM from someone IN NM. There's so much drek out there.
The Uptown area has homes with plenty of opportunity for sweat equity! Centrally located and right in the sweet spot for growth! What part of town are you in now?

I've noticed in a lot of your videos a lot of things you mention seem to be directed towards home buyers. What are good areas to rent an apartment/small home? Is that a valid option in the sandia heights area or is that area more for people looking to buy some large single family home?

Hello. I'm really glad I stumbled upon your channel. I just purchased a home in the Four Hills Village community. I'm curious to get your opinion about this community? FYI, my wife is from Four Hills and her parents live there today. I've visited Albuquerque about a dozen times over the past 5 years and have visited a number of different areas (some of which you list in this video). To me, Four Hills is one of those "sleeper" neighborhoods (a very good thing IMHO) that no one really talks about but the homes and community are fantastic. On par, if not better than North East Albuquerque. Again, appreciate your honest opinion.

Ruby! There are parts of town like Nob Hill which are walkable and have public transportation. For the most part, you'll need a car in our city! Come out and take a tour 🚗🚋
Definitely need a car unless you want to stay within your walking capacity. Buses are not great. Ubers are everywhere but most NYC people think it's way way too slow (talk slow, everything is slow, late, a bit frustrating for New Yorkers)

I truly believe you're not doing your subscribers Justice by letting them know the other side of Albuquerque. I know it's your business and you want to make things look as good as possible. Yes Albuquerque is a beautiful city with a lot of history. But I do want to let everybody know that's planning on moving here a few things. Albuquerque in El Paso are pretty much the same population while El Paso had under 30 homicides last year and Albuquerque had an upwards of 120 not including the rest of the county which equals around 130 to 140 homicides, something like that. Albuquerque is about 550,000 people and the whole metro area is about a million give or take. Compared to other similar size Metro areas we have a freakishly high crime rate. The gangs aren't as bad as they used to be a decade or even several decades ago but the drugs are rampant. We are on the top two cities in the nation for carjackings and vehicle thefts. We are somewhere in the top 10 of violent crimes. In Albuquerque you can go from a bad neighborhood to a good neighborhood to another bad neighborhood just by passing a few blocks. areas you might want to stay away from are the international district formerly known as The war zone, Southwest Albuquerque around the West Mesa Pat Hurley area, the inner South Valley, the inner North Valley and parts of the Northeast Heights from San Mateo boulevard down West. I am 37 years old and I've lived here all my life. Please trust me with what I am saying. Now this is like any other city in America where cities have their good places and their bad places I agree and yes there are definitely worse places in America than Albuquerque, again I agree 💯%. But I do have to say there are many more places that you might want to consider before considering moving to Albuquerque. Albuquerque has a lot of jobs right now but those jobs are mostly all retail. Until just a few weeks ago we didn't have an Amazon warehouse so they might be hiring as well. If you have a degree and are looking to start a career in a big business Albuquerque definitely is not the place for you to go. New Mexico is the second poorest state in the nation and we are on the bottom for public school education, graduation, poverty, drugs being that we're so close to the border, gangs which are slowly dwindling off, entertainment and jobs. Having said that when you enter Albuquerque from the west side or the east side and you look down into the valley because this is where Albuquerque sits, it definitely is beautiful. And if you work from home or are retired or have enough money to start a business or something of that nature yes Albuquerque can be a good fit for you. The creator of this video might be upset with me but I just thought it's fair to let everybody know both sides of the coin. Too many people paint this place as a Oasis. And then on the flip side other people paint this place as a gutter. It's neither or. The neighborhoods this gentleman mentioned r&d pretty good neighborhoods and if your heart is set on moving here I think you would be happy in either one of those neighborhoods.

I'm planning on moving to Alburquerque within the month of July. Don't want to deal with LA traffic anymore after being spoiled by working from home. What neighborhoods should I watch out for that is pretty bad in crime? Also, are apartments priced between 600-700 too good to be true?
Just like any city, you pay for what you get! We've seen renters enjoy the west side of town or the Northeast heights so far! I hope this helps. What brings you to ABQ?
@@AllAboutABQ This is good advice. Friends have recommended to avoid the war zone area so making sure to do that. My goal is to find a cheap apartment in a safe area as I find new employment. I have saved a bit of money to be able to do this but don't want to drain my funds as I look for employment. Once I find something, then planning on purchasing a home. I'm a military veteran so I am hoping to use my VA loan finally. I have visited ABQ before and I really enjoyed my time there. Feel like it can be somewhere I can settle, have a home finally and live out the rest of my life lol.

Big fan of 4Hills! Love the country club and mid century modern homes. The only issue is the grocery shopping!

areas you might want to stay away from are the international district formerly known as The war zone, Southwest Albuquerque around the West Mesa Pat Hurley area, the inner South Valley, the inner North Valley and parts of the Northeast Heights from San Mateo boulevard down West.
I am 37 years old and I've lived here all my life. Please trust me with what I am saying. Now this is like any other city in America where cities have their good places and their bad places I agree and yes there are definitely worse places in America than Albuquerque, again I agree 💯%. But I do have to say there are many more places that you might want to consider before considering moving to Albuquerque.
Albuquerque has a lot of jobs right now but those jobs are mostly all retail. Until just a few weeks ago we didn't have an Amazon warehouse so they might be hiring as well. If you have a degree and are looking to start a career in a big business Albuquerque definitely is not the place for you to go. New Mexico is the second poorest state in the nation and we are on the bottom for public school education, graduation, poverty, drugs being that we're so close to the border, gangs which are slowly dwindling off, entertainment and jobs.
Having said that when you enter Albuquerque from the west side or the east side and you look down into the valley because this is where Albuquerque sits, it definitely is beautiful. And if you work from home or are retired or have enough money to start a business or something of that nature yes Albuquerque can be a good fit for you.
The creator of this video might be upset with me but I just thought it's fair to let everybody know both sides of the coin. Too many people paint this place as a Oasis. And then on the flip side other people paint this place as a gutter. It's neither or.
The neighborhoods this gentleman mentioned r&d pretty good neighborhoods and if your heart is set on moving here I think you would be happy in either one of those neighborhoods.

I'm planning on moving to Alburquerque within the month of July. Don't want to deal with LA traffic anymore after being spoiled by working from home. What neighborhoods should I watch out for that is pretty bad in crime? Also, are apartments priced between 600-700 too good to be true?
Just like any city, you pay for what you get! We've seen renters enjoy the west side of town or the Northeast heights so far! I hope this helps. What brings you to ABQ?
@@AllAboutABQ This is good advice. Friends have recommended to avoid the war zone area so making sure to do that. My goal is to find a cheap apartment in a safe area as I find new employment. I have saved a bit of money to be able to do this but don't want to drain my funds as I look for employment. Once I find something, then planning on purchasing a home. I'm a military veteran so I am hoping to use my VA loan finally. I have visited ABQ before and I really enjoyed my time there. Feel like it can be somewhere I can settle, have a home finally and live out the rest of my life lol.

Truthfully, I'd be happy anywhere, but since I'll be an area manager for many stores throughout Albuquerque, Santa Fe, etc., ease of access to the interstate would be ideal.
