Like this plane. Got notice in email. I got or had the eflite edge. I got a lemon 🍋 should of return it but it crashed and through it in the garage. Had No power. May have to buy this one. This one looks good.

Good job on the maiden Gary. Those edge 540s fly excellent. I love mine and it's about 8 years old. Still have never crashed it. Just loose the safe stuff and take the time to get it trimmed out in the air. Mine flys perfect and level hands off right side up or upside down. Great plane 👍👍😉👊✌
I will take a Gyro making 10-15% corrections but safe is not for me either.
Grandpa Gary - I replaced the gear wire with 5/32” Music wire, which has a much higher yield strength than the pretty shiny one that came with. No more bent gear. Requires a wire bender though - that sucker was $90.

Great job Gary, i like the orange paint scheme as well the size looks very close to the yellow and grey extra 300 that horizon put out a few years ago, nice job on the maiden though

get rid of those wheel pants they tend to break anyway it also sheds a slight amount of weight.
I found these WP to be fairly sturdy. They’re also serving as the collars for the wheels.
Check the order of Vector (same as FMS Reflex gyro by the way). It’s not like Safe/AS3X in terms of the switch sequence.
One end switch direction is Stability Mode (equivalent of Safe). Middle switch direction is gyro OFF or Direct Mode (no Safe or AS3X). Other end switch direction is Dynamic Mode (equivalent of AS3X).
Different switch order than Safe with middle point being gyro off entirely.

Did a little research on the 'Vector'...it says the "plane has to be flat and level each time" you power up. That is when it calibrates. Being a tail dragger (and being very sensitive to inputs) , that little bit of down angle, may make a difference. just a thought...maybe ailerons also if slightly tipped...

That statement in the documents that came with, is why I ripped it out and put in an AR637T before I ever applied power. Also replaced the ESC with a 60A Avian, for the full boat telemetry; this is 2023 - I refuse to settle for less… lol.
Great video. You mentioned more nose weight. I was wondering if an Admiras 4S 3600mah 40C would fit in the battery compartment and give it a better CG? If you have this battery, could you check it out in this model for me? I would love to buy this model, but not if I dont have the correct batteries to use in it. Let me know what you can find out for me, I love orange planes also.
I’m running Spektrum G2 Smart 4S 3200 50C. I stand it on edge with lead down going to the bottom hatch compartment. CG is pretty good - might be a lil nose heavy for some, but it flies great; I love this plane. Made a new gear wire with music wire - no more bent gear.
