Laura! Your storytelling ability just soars higher and higher with each new video! From the smooth B roll to the perfectly subtle background music arrangement. The video was amazingly captivating and achieved its job of adding this beautiful looking little location of Hydra Island to my ever growing list of must visit places!
Hydra Island, or simply Hydra, is a picturesque Greek island located in the Saronic Gulf, near Athens. Known for its rich history, architectural beauty, and tranquil atmosphere, Hydra has become a popular destination for travelers seeking a unique and idyllic experience. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video! ❤ ❤ ❤
Hello Laura! A medical condition has sidelined me for the past few weeks and while travel experience surfing on RUclips, I came across your channel. I just have to let you know how refreshing it’s been to watch an young woman (who seems to have an endless knowledge of language, seriously how many do you speak?) just observing the world around you instead of making it about yourself. I just started your first couple of videos from your trips across Greece (where my husband is from). I really enjoy your candor and down to earth personally. Thanks for sharing your adventures around the world and helping make my time recovering a bit easier to bear. Hope you keep up the fantastic work 😊
Wow, now another destination on my list. Stop going to interesting places! jk. Butterflies from 6:29-6:38 so breathtaking. There is a similar hike in eastern Oregon that is one of my Favorites - and there are always butterflies there, at the top. Thanks again for sharing.
Haha sorry! If it helps, my list of places to visit grows ever longer as well! I'm hoping to spend some more time in the PNW hiking and exploring next year, you'll have to share the name of that hike!
There is a secret way up to the monastery if you go straight up to the top of the town there is a windy dirt/ stone track that if you follow goes onto the main stone path. It cuts the journey down a bit and gives you great views of the sea 😊
What a wonderful video! I spent six hours a few days ago there, making 9 videos there, and, in comparison to yours, I feel I have shown absolutely nothing! And I am half Greek and live in Greece! And the photography is captivating! Wow!
Great stuff, thanks. Haven't been there yet, but absolutely will do. Have seen most of the other islands but overlooked this one. Thumbs up to your comments.
Hi I’ve just checked out your vlog and just because of watching this we have just booked, it looks wonderful and the trails look fantastic and ha no cars even better thanks for choosing our holiday this year just can’t wait to get there 👍👍👍👌
oo tough call! I like them both for different reasons. Italy will always have my heart, it's one of the few places in the world where I feel almost like I'm home.
I love your videos. I have a suggestion that might make them even better. The way that folk consume RUclips videos is changing. Years ago, I watched RUclips on a computer; now, I use either an Apple TV or Fire TV. On TV, there is no way to scroll down to the material you have added, so when you give a location, it is not accessible. There is a great workaround, though. It is called a location QR code. Scanning a location QR will send a Lat/Lon to the phone's default mapping program. You can then save that location on your phone. So if someone is watching your video, they just pause, scan your code and save the location on their phone. The video uses the QR code to give location information at the appropriate time. Location QR codes are easy to make: On your computer, open Google Maps. Right-click the place or area on the map. This will open a pop-up window. You can find your latitude and longitude in decimal format at the top. To copy the coordinates automatically, left-click on the latitude and longitude. On a Mac, I then use the software QR Factory to make the QR code itself. You can also take a picture with your iPhone, extract the Lat Lon, and generate a code, or you can create a code from any image in your photos library. This is useful because you do not need to use an address and can then avoid name-twin confusion (A big problem in Greece and Italy). Also, you can easily give locations for trailheads or vista points. And since you use real-world coordinates with a location QR code, you can still see a place on a map even if the Internet is unavailable (a common problem for tourists). Here is what a location QR could potentially look like: drive.google.com/file/d/1SIfxj555JxW411p3QThDVuOzj7SUQGMu/view?usp=share_link You can use the same software to share a website link: drive.google.com/file/d/1IfPXMURABvszk10KvDochMpvnxTBeeh-/view?usp=share_link You can put the QR links on a Google map or overlay them on a map image. I built this map to help some confused tourists trying to find at night in Beaune, France. I can see many situations where you might want to do this. drive.google.com/file/d/1J1DRW0VL0twF1hwAU4EEHDZMwvjAuaHf/view?usp=share_link I hope you find these ideas helpful. Thanks for your videos!!
Dishes in most restaurants around Greece are for sharing so the portions are large and since I was traveling solo it was probably more food and more money than if you were traveling with two or more people which means of course that you can share dishes. I usually spent between €10-20 for a meal, more if I had a drink or two, but I don't drink wine, which is one of the cheapest options in most places in Greece.
Saw Athens and ruins many years ago when in US military but in recent years have become interested in Hydra, initially after following Leonard Cowan. Your video has rekindled my desire to go there and become immersed in the culture, the food, the beauty, peace and solitude. Would you recommend particular time of year? Thanks for the video and I look forward to viewing your other adventures in Greece.
Looks remarkably underdeveloped for commercialised tourist trade. What really? ? Oddly it reminds me some of the Scottish West Islands, with just low impact seasonal visitors, so hard to visit for a quick trip is mostly bird watchers and Nordic back packers.
dear youtubers, please stop destroying every single sacred place on the planet. keep sacred places secret. everything is ruined by people who do this. even if it comes from a good place, the result is the same : beautiful places get destroyed :( Sometimes it's better to keep things for ourselves. Not everything is for sharing.
Hydra is not named after the mythological beast but from the word ύδωρ.Which means water in ancient Greek.
I Like your energy, believe it or not those places have so much energy to give to a person who appreciate them.
Guau. Lady from Lyon to Greek Island, excellent video. I just saw The boy on the dolphin with Sofía Lorens. It was recorded in Hydra.
Adding HYDRA to my bucket list thanks to you Laura 🙏

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd also lives in Hydra with his family...

Nice and enjoying. Well wishes from Bangladesh.
Thank you for sharing this! I loved visiting but wouldn't have been capable of making this hike, so it's very special to see it 😂
Good job ❤!

Very nice video, Laura-can you list the prices in USD of your meals ?

No cars or bikes allowed!
Milos island
Mark Rufallo and Maye Musk, Elon Musk's mother, have also been on the island :D
I don’t like the idea of the equines being used!

Yeah. Hydra has been a well kept secret. Not. Lol.
