(5:21) As an scuba diver, there are some places in the world that are quite murky with an average vision distance of 4 meters. There are some places (especially near tropical waters) where water is very clear. However, if you are diving in a pelagic or open ocean area, the hazy water can be seen, but just further away from you. To answer your question, yes & no. Some cameras that are designed specifically for diving use can create high quality photos. However, shots from an iPhone can be very different. Hope this somewhat helps with your question:)
Yeah the visibility in the video is still really good. Mostly in freshwater it can get so bad that you have to dive almost shoulder to shoulder with your dive buddy. Lights are a must. Some factors that go into it: divers kicking up silt, recent heavy rains, algal bloom... Here's a video I found: ruclips.net/video/9PC2nzaZ83U/видео.html&ab_channel=255Vicks
The transition of a camera going through the surface of water always makes me tense up. You never know what could be right there waiting for you. I’d much rather travel through space & have contact with aliens than swim in the ocean or any body of deep unseeable water.

Fun facts, sea snakes are quite venemous and you absolutely do not want to get bitten by one. The difference between them and regular snakes is that they have flat bodies so they can glide over the water whereas land snakes are more round to slither on different surfaces. Sea snakes are a bit more docile than land snakes since they don't come into contact with people as much in the open water so that's why it was chill around that guy. Great video Greg!

The blackout at 18:00 is called “shallow water blackout”. It’s mainly related to Freedivers and spear fisherman. It’s directly linked to the depth you dive to, how long you are at that depth for and how long you wait at the surface in between each dive down. It can also be due to hyperventilating before/after. This guy is very lucky as, however uncommon, blackouts mostly happen when you’re at your diving depth, and if you’re untrained you can die very easily. When you pass out underwater your body automatically blocks your airways…. BUT if your snorkel is still in your mouth your body doesn’t do this and the snorkel act as a funnel and your tongue will relax and fill your lungs with water. These blackouts are very uncommon and can be easily prevented by taking adequate time between each dive and always diving with a buddy, it is absolutely essential to dive with a buddy and can not only make the dive easier but literally save your life. Oh did I mention the scary part? UWB can happen at any depth, 2M, 10M, 20M, any. Goes with a lot of drowning incidents, your lungs shut off at their entrance to the oesophagus so the rest of your throat, mouth and nose still floods with water
I grew up in Louisiana on a lake named Toledo Bend, and it's a man-made lake. The dammed up a river, and flooded the area, so there are trees sticking out of the water everywhere. I learned how to SCUBA in that lake AT the dam. On a good day, you'll have 12 foot visibility. I actually have pictures of it. I was 12
Dude... I feel you. Learning to SCUBA at 10 in Texas lakes was... uh, yeah, a lot. If everyone hadn't been constantly promising me that diving in the Caribbean would be totally different, I would not have made it to getting certified (did my final certification dive in Cozumel - they were all right lol). I will never understand people who voluntarily (for fun?!) go diving in our disgusting lakes where you can't see your own fins... While I don't feel the same things that Greg does for a lot of these videos, the super murky/underwater trees/wall dive ones? Nope nope nope nope.
I actually went to Cozumel 3 times, but I definitely learned to dive in seaweed and stumps.... The stories I could tell lol. I'm glad you finally went through with your cert (I accidentally hit the dislike, but I meant to hit like lol)
Last summer I went to Lake George over the weekend with a couple friends, and ended up kayaking right on the lake. Super fun, and I’m glad we did it, but I also kept sporadically freaking myself out about how deep it was and what if something was down there 😰😅 If you have the option to go parasailing you should definitely do it!! It’s so much fun!

Holy shit..
Ayyyyy been waiting for these vids💙💙💙💙💙gotta catch up with the content on this channel♥️
I always look forward to your videos!
I'm glad you finally went through with your cert
(I accidentally hit the dislike, but I meant to hit like lol)
Transition of camera, those deep waters......oh God! That vastness...I can't imagine 😳
Yay another video I love you content
