I love his look at the ref on the first one after the blatant penalty 😅
The first one was a holding for sure, but the ref was jumping out of the way at the same time it happened so it went unnoticed. The second was not even close to a penalty 😂
2min tripping and 2min slashing on second
@@jamesberry3230 not a chance in any hockey game ever.
@@jamesberry3230 Slashing? Are you saying that with a straight face?

That ref should be sent to the minors ...
Or you should be a referee and tell us how good you are.
I hate how vegas constantly hooks and holds and cheats, and when anyone does a single thing to any of them, they all lose their minds and start crying. Stone can't even take a check without whining in the media about it. Petroangelo lumberjacks people when a team's a little rough on him in a playoff series. Even their "tough" guys whine when anything comes back their way.
You're describing every team in the league in 2023. They're either soft and emotionless or they're "tough" crybabies.
Yeah... just Vegas. Pull your pants up.
Tampa’s got the exact same rep.
Vegas and Tampa are both well-known for this kind of behavior, but then again good teams often have this reputation, which is not really anything new, by the way, regardless of how much people call today’s NHLers cry-babies.
Whaaaa burgers for Kuchi!
The first one, sure but that wasn’t really anything there on the second one. Gotta keep your cool bruh.
Pressure on his skates maybe?
this is 100% correct
I mean, he couldve just embellished a little bit like everyone else does and its a penalty shot or penalty. It knocked him off balance and the defender wasnt even close to the puck.
Lightning fan here and agreed. The first one was definitely a penalty, but the ref might have been on the wrong side to see the arm. Second one not a penalty.
Anyway this is PP for Tampa for first one
I was actually at this game with a similar perspective to the referee and I didn’t think any of these warranted a call. As someone who plays hockey if the ref doesn’t have their hand in the air, complaining gets you no where but the penalty box.
I thought there was another hook on the boards before the one in the video.
I am a tampa homer, first one should have been call, second one meh.. that would have been a seriously weak call if made.
I know the second one will never get called in a million years. But if you're trying to stop a breakaway, and the only way to do that involves crashing into the guys skates, it feels like that needs to be a penalty regardless of knocking him over or not. If you can get puck first? Ok, we can talk. But if you have to go through his skates to get the puck? Not so sure anymore.
I think you can still call tripping even if a guy didn't get knocked over.
weak call or not does not matter it is a penalty and should have been called
@@jamesberry3230 But we know hockey doesn't work that way.
Wouldn't expect anything less from Waaaaahhh-mpa Bay. One of their players gets touched and it's like their entire bench turns into a bunch of fuckin loud-ass Jersey Shore guidos "WHOA HEYYYY AYYYY"
Yup, while being one of the dirtiest, more cheap shot artist teams for years. Although, Florida has caught right up with them
Yikes... somebody clearly cheers for a team that doesn't do well against Tampa 😂
Kucherov is all of us hockey fans in that moment. Game management at its finest. If Tampa is down a goal when Kucherov gets held, the refs wouldn't hesitate to blow the whistle.
Exactly. TB down 1 they're looking for any excuse to blow the whistle. They're designed to keep games close and increase excitement. Just call the game, stop inserting yourself as a character.

First one is a hold….missed call
Get over it….
Second one is not a penalty. Don’t act like Tampa hasn’t gotten away with one either.
No one knows what was said except who was on the ice. Herbert is one of the best referees in the league, I’m sure he wouldn’t give out a penalty if it wasn’t warranted.
People really don’t understand that these guys go out there and do the best they can. It’s their livelihood and how they put food on the table. They don’t miss penalties on purpose. They get one look on the ice and that’s it.
Easy to say when you look at a slo motion replay.

If Kucherov doesnt score automatically there should be a penalty, great logic!
your logic
Yup. That's the way they've been playing for years, plus the dirty sh*t they've done and got away with.
Bettman protect team vegas🤦🏻♂️
Blatant game management. I don't like either team. Same pattern as always. They ref for the plot. Winning a game by two or more? Good luck. Got three powerplays in a row? That fourth will never come. Scored on two powerplays in a row? You could get executed live on national television. Doesn't matter. You're not getting another one until the other team has their makeup powerplay. I mean there's a reason gambling sites have a "odds of getting next powerplay" stat. The refs are so obvious in how they do this bullshit that their bias can be accurately predicted.
It's funny. The Leafs/Rangers game the other night, the Rangers scored on both PP's while the Leafs didn't get a single PP all game. These betting sites are in great control of the outcome and with, guaranteed, kick back to Bettman, he's loving it.
lol so many kids confusing the NHL with WWE

The refs this year have been god awful.
Those blindbat referees are always awful all the time. Send them all to the bush league for constant gross incompetence.
There was no penalty on either play, don’t know why he’s whining. This coming from someone who cheers for Tampa as well as having Vegas as my second least favourite team
Bullshit Ref's .So what else is new in the NHL...???
Whether held on the first one or not, your job is to play your hardest, not flop your arms in the air when you get brushed by a glove. Chances are, if he tries to skate through that harder, the penalty is definitely called. If I'm a ref, I don't want to make calls with that look either. Penalties are earned, not given.
from what i've seen before if a player is clearly committing a penalty such as a hook or hold and holds his arms up pretending like he's not doing anything it's more than likely he gets called. If a player is being held or hooked and holds his arms out and looking for an official to appeal to they're more likely think he's trying to sell the call and won't call anything.
He flopped his arms in the air because he was held on a break away. A possible goal. Penalties are not earned. 😂 The ref didn’t do his job. Period. End of story.
The ref better be careful, it's Tampa Bay. Someone might crank a slapshot at him after the game.
Don't you mean cry to the media? "😢 We were treated unfair, even after being handed 2 recent bs cups while getting away with being dirty 😢" "😢It's not fair 😢".
😭
kucherov should throw his gloves at the equipment guy when things don't go his way. the first one would have been called if he had kept skating instead of stopping and raising his hand like a ref. putting an arm out to block is only a penalty if you actually hold him back, kucherov wasn't held back, he just stopped skating.
putting a hand out to stop or fend off a player is a holding penalty period whether or not called by ref
Refs weren’t calling anything. Hagel got crosschecked after this and the refs didn’t call it. Hague got his hand around Kucherov and slowed him up. He stopped skating early but the ref wouldn’t have called it anyways considering how much they let go. 2nd penalty is proof that embellishing isn’t that hatable tho. The Vegas player completely attempted to trip him but Kucherov stayed on his feet. Ref wouldn’t have called it anyways.
Bettman needs to go out honestly I’mstarting to think even I could do a bit better because I would make the calls better and actually not rig it for Canadian teams btw I am rangers fan
This ain't Basketball......
They need to get a handle of them disgraced so called refs and when a player tells or even looks at them then its the refs turn to a t the same but they get to stay like get real and get a hold of the refs in the NHL cause that's just uncalled for when a ref gets yelled at from another grown man but yet they get to do as they please .
Kucherov is a drunk crybaby.
Hebert is an awful ref. AWFUL.
Not sure why any player in the NHL would expect any of the refs to even know what a penalty is. Everyone of them is incompetent. Always has been the case, and always will be the case.
😆
The NHL does not call a lot of penalties on new teams who give them a billion dollars. Come on !!! It's a good business investment.

Nik should have got off the ice.
the second one definitely wasn't a penalty but i gotta say the nhl has completely shot themselves in the foot in recent years by having refs that stupidly would call that, because now players expect it, and you can't blame them because it's not their job to set the precedent it's their job to follow it. kuch was understandably pissed because in a lot of games he plays that would be following the precedent. the rise in the unpredictability and inconsistency of refs has fucked with players heads and unfortunately it also fucks with refs who are doing a good job by making the right non-call like in this tampa/vegas game.
It was a diving play swinging his stick where he hit nothing but his skate... while on a breakaway
1st one could’ve gone either way, 2nd one was a good non-call. Not sure what Kucherov was bitching about

Tripping and holding aren't penalties, embellishment and unsportsmanlike are. After the Gudbransson hit, I'm convinced you could just stab the other team with broken sticks and it'd somehow be their fault
Giving penalty it is up to a ref. The ref is not responsible for what he does.

First one was weak, at best. I wouldn't have called that when I was reffing. Dude literally rolled himself into it to make it LOOK like a hold. Much as I hate the existence of the Golden knights, there was no penalty there. Just an idiot looking for attention.
Second one, what would you expect? That defensive play is made FREQUENTLY, and has been for years. Didn't get tripped, and it's perfectly legal to try to swing at the puck with the stick..rather what it's for!!
Kucherov should be benched for that sort of childishness. You know the game, play it and quit trying to sell what isn't there. You're a hockey player, not an actor. Abandoning the puck chase to turn and try to draw a call is just stupid.
You want the league's leading scorer benched for complaining to the refs and you call him childish? 😂 👌
If you wouldn't have called that first one, you were a bad ref. I'm no Tampa Fan but that's holding clear as day. 1:51 The guy has his hand off his stick to grab a hold of Kucherov and slow him down. The second one wasn't really much of anything.

Number one bull shit. Obvious no calls and then they call him for telling them to do their jobs.
The break away penalty would have been an iffy call but the first play with Kucherov going down the wing he was definitely held and there should have been a penalty!
If the refs had gotten that call right the first time there would have been no un-sportsman penalty!
The ref compounded his initial mistake when he failed to make the correct call and thereby created the opportunity for Kucherov to complain. Granted Kucherov probably went too far with his complaints, but the ref should have went over to Kucherov and 1) admitted he missed the first call and then 2) gave him a warning to not be so vigorous and loud!
Instead the ref did what NHL refs constantly do as the "hockey gods" they think they are, he let his ego make the call!👎

@@kevinfrey9063 actually the second was two penalties; tripping and slashing
@@jamesberry3230Maybe go back and figure out what the words “slashing” and “tripping” actually mean before continuing to embarrass yourself by repeating the same silliness over and over.
This is professional sports, pal. I get the desire to yell and scream, but it is unprofessional and inappropriate for the player to behave that way. It is the ref’s job to call unsportsmanlike conduct a penalty. It’s also the ref’s job to call other penalties (like holding) when they happen; don’t get me wrong.
Nothing gives the player the right to abuse the referees. Right call or not.
Refs judge the the abuse the same, no matter what.
Kucherov was doing something no pro should be doing, giving up on the play to throw his hands into the air and look around for an official. Despite being commonplace in other sports like soccer and basketball, selling a call to that extent is considered quite taboo in the hockey world. He should be playing through contact, doing his best to win the puck battle DESPITE being held. More than anything, he shouldn't be throwing his hands up and looking around for a ref. They're also humans, and like all humans, they tend to be egotistical when left unchecked - and the NHLOA has ensured that has been the case for a long while now. It shouldn't be a factor, in my eyes if you are held you are held, and your actions after the fact should not contribute whatsoever to the legality of the play. AAnyone with a brain thinks this. Unfortunately, the NHL doesn't seem interesting in hiring officials with brains.
Well said
I'd agree if officials weren't awful at their jobs in general.
Officiating has been exceptionally bad this season and this is a perfect example of
With all the replays taking as much time as they do, they aren't calling as many penalties to keep the games shorter. Silly strategy.
Make Hockey Great Again
Vegas got pushed towards the cup by the league and the league stood by as Kucherov got cross checked out of the playoffs without any calls.... Where there is smoke there is fire.
Sure, the league put the pucks in the net at one end of the ice, and kept them out of the net at the other end. Keep telling yourself that, looking for excuses.
@@2whl4re teams have been helped before with calls from refs....Vegas is a good team. Not debating that. If you want to come out swinging against reality go ahead.
@@2whl4reIt's reality that Vegas was given far more ammunition to start than any previous expansion team.
@@MikeHarvey-ol7xrSeattle had the same expansion rules, look how that’s turned out for them. Vegas drafted well and made smart trades along the way to build a cup winning team, period.

Well that's laughable lol
If you think the second one is a penalty ur out of ur mind
First one….probably a hold….
The Golden Grabbers strike again!
Kuch gave up on the play because the glove going into his foot was going to send him flying into the boards. Another dangerous play going unpunished, no wonder players feel okay to lay huge hits from behind and trip players going into the boards. Honestly, they need to re-vamp the way the game is called - we have so much technology comapred to when the game was invented. Why have 4 refs on the ice who still manage to miss a lot, why not have three and then one up top watching replays to ensure the call is right. Give this ref the power to reverse a bad call and also call penalties the refs on the ice miss.
Example: two players chase for a puck into the boards and one player full on yardsales into the boards. No penalty is called because the play is too quick but the play stops. The ref upstairs can literally take 20 seconds to see if there's ANY stick contact close to the feet or ANY push onto the player and call a penalty accordingly.
I really feel like if you have an official watching replays and catching that dirty sht, it will protect the players in the long run. I'm not talking every play needs to be scrutinized and broken down but there needs to be some consistency and dirty players need to be penalized when they do dirty cheeky plays.
Think of a world where there isn't an easy and understandable excuse of "i didn't see what happened". With an official up top watching, the game would be called more fairly and consistently.
Alternatively, if two players go full speed towards the boards to get the puck and one of them suddenly gets dumped to the ice, call a major and review it... What's the harm? The odds of an infraction are fairly high, NHL players rarely just fall on their own going into the boards full speed.
Should have been a two the first time, an additional 5 the second and a game and 5 game suspension the third time.
