If and big IF, hockey cares at all about player safety then the answer is simple - adopt soccer's rule - and send the player off. After playing a man down for the rest of the game, teams will have a strong incentive to clean up their acts or have losing seasons.

Ref's should not even be on the ice in the NHL. They should have their own little boxes on the side of the ice with cameras pointed down at the lines for offsides. They are always getting in the way of plays, getting hit by the puck.

Unpopular opinion: Like the NFL, the NHL is approaching an on-ice, live death. Serious injuries from what are essentially intents to injure disguised as legitimate maneuvers are rampant in both leagues, and only when there is a death in BOTH leagues from these actions will the players themselves finally take their actions seriously. It's a game, it's for entertainment, and you wind up getting hot heads who would be just as dangerous behind the wheel as they are with a stick, and the fact that the only ejection in this scenario was the Red Wings player shows the league and the refs aren't taking it seriously.

Just did a double check, this hit is less bad then the hit from whitecloud on knies. Edit, revo went though, Whitecloud went up and through. I don’t agree that he jumped but he definitely went upward towards the head and then followed through upward after spring loading.

I 🙏 he makes a speedy recovery. No one wants to see anyone get injured. 10 years ago that would be a clean hit. Players now a days continue to skate with their heads down (which scares me). I never agreed with putting player safety the hitters responsibility. Go back to taking care of your own safety and this hit would not have happened. Those bitching and moaning that Revo didn’t get more games tells me two things either A you never played Hockey before or B you never played hockey before. He was not going out there to head hunt, play dirty, or end someone’s career. He was finishing a check and was it an illegal hit yes 100% but the speed of the game is so fast it’s hard to think about where your point of contact is going to be. He was not aiming for his head but I think as Nurse moves revo was trying not to catch him in the head and unfortunately it happened shit happens in hockey and this is just one example of that.
