In this video it's just the "natural" sound of the snare, if you pay attention nor Shawn nor Chris are hitting the keg at all during that performance. :)

At this point in Slipknot it was James Root, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Clown (Shaun Crahan), Sid (DJ), Craig (spike head), Paul Gray (Bass), Joey Jordison (Drums), and Chris Fehn (long nose). Later they lost Paul to OD and replaced him with Alessandro Venturella, then Joey left, and was replaced with Jay Weinberg, and most recently the kicked Chris Fehn our, and are keeping the new members name a secret.
What I knew was, for this gig max wineberg was playing drums.
The member is probably just a hired gun, I worked on the KnotFest Tour last month and that person's stage cooler is only label stage right percussion

this performance led to them getting the drummer they have now. the drummer for conans band is Max wienberg, and his son is Jay. he told his son he had to see this band. took him to a show, met them after, and 11 years later became their drummer when joey was kicked out.
Jay Weinberg was a Slipknot fan, there’s footage of him wearing a bootleg Corey Taylor mask while meeting the band. You’re right that he’s Max’s son though, and he helped Jay get backstage to meet the band for the first time
Conan had Slipknot on before this. They played "Wait and Bleed." He was one of the first to book them and opened the doors for other talk shows.
Fun fact: Slipknot's newest drummer Jay Weinberg is the son of Max Weinberg, Conan o'Brien's drummer sidekick. Also the drummer for The E Street band.

They chose the most wicked song on the Iowa album, which was new at the time, to play on Conan. They didn't pick something more TV or Radio friendly. Because Slipknot has always been the goats of metal!!!

Here's some help: Heretic means sinner which ties into the chorus where the lyrics "If you're 555 than I'm 666" are said. As you may know 666 is the number of the beast/devil, means that they're saying if people think that they're satanic cuz they're different so be it addressing the common criticism they receive. Great video as always stay lit 🔥💯.
555 is also a way for pilots to say everything is normal/good. So if you are 555 "Normal" then I am 666 "Different."
And this is why Conan is the coolest late night guy.

i know this is late but prior to them going on the air with "the heretic anthem" they were going to play "left behind" but changed it just minutes to going live. when asked why they changed it corey said: where can you scream 555 and 666 live on national tv. little history on this performance

Max Weinberg Conan's house drummer also plays with Bruce Springsteen and the e Street band was so impressed with the drummer he went and told his 14-year-old son who is an up-and-coming drummer at 14 years old ended up becoming slipknot's drummer in 2014 when Joey jordison left the band and he was Slipknot drummer for 5 years to 2019 there's some trivia for you if you look up on RUclips and look for Jay Weinberg plays with Slipknot they have a bunch of drum cams of Jay Weinberg playing with Slipknot
