My grandpa passed away when I was about seven years living in US. I came back to Taiwan to work after five years of his death. It was also a strange feeling that not seeing him in old house since I have not seen him for over ten years. At least I am glad that I had time and be by my grandma’s side to the end.

I also dislike that feeling when you wake up in the morning, check your phone, and receive a message from family informing you of a loved one's passing. btw, your Airbnb in Toronto is right on top of my college. Perhaps is during weekend so there weren't any students around. Anyway, it's funny to see my college in your video.😁

Pursuing the life you want or wanting to live with your family most requires sacrificing part of it, and it’s difficult to have it all at the same time.（My father lived to be 101 years old and left us last year😢）Cherish the time spent with friends and family👍

I’m glad you got to surprise your mom and spend time with your grandma and family. I grew up in the US while my family is from Taiwan. So I’ve only gone back every 2-4 years as an adult. Last time I went back was right before covid. Unfortunately my grandma passed away suddenly during the covid quarantine (not from covid). It was hard for my mom to try to get back into Taiwan then. I’m finally going back to Taiwan in January but it will be very weird to not see my grandma. She was my last grandparent still alive.
I totally agree with your point. Asking about the well-being of elderly or sick friends can be challenging, especially dealing with the emotional barriers you mentioned. For those living far away, like overseas family members, it's even tougher - I can really empathize with that!
