      Best bargain I've ever bought

Beautiful speakers! You are spot on with the dispersion, the ring radiator tweeters need a toe-in, especially when you're sitting that close. You are also spot on that those Tymphany XT type ring radiators "wants" to play midrange, because they have less natural low frequency rolloff than many other tweeters. I prefer an active crossover when dealing with these drivers, but when their weaknesses are dealt with properly (and you can live with their lack of dispersion), they perform very, very well. 😊

I've got them, and after being a little disappointed they just got better and better and meed! Toeing in and the tweeter at ear level,i now have 2 pairs in my Atmos bed level and they are amazing, and manage brilliant even without the sub, and play don't know why by Nora Jones, crystal clear vocals etc

I bought QX1 MK2 recently. Wanted to return them. After a few days; the speakers loosened up. THEY ARE STAYING.
They present a captivating tonal landscape even when just playing low res radio streams.
They are domineering my LX3 MK2's in my quad setup.
So.. LX3 to be replaced with ELAC DB63 or QX2 MK2?

These speakers are voiced with the grills on, so should be reviewed with the grills on. Great speakers.

The tweeter looks like one from Polk or very similar with the nipple on it. A bit strange they are muffled in sound. Not voiced at all like the Mission 770 then.

The vocals are set deep in the speaker, tweeter quite good, slight thickness to the bass. I got the qx1 mk2. It's a ok speaker. I prefer lx2 from mission.

@@tonyhall8947 - Do you have the LX-2 mk-ii or the original? I got my hands on the mk-ii and somehow, they sound like the most underwhelming speakers i've come across. What could i be doing wrong?

    • @darpanbhuyan1909
      @darpanbhuyan1909 Год назад +4

For the price, there are seriously no complaints. I haven't heard better clarity across the spectrum at the same price - they regularly go on sale for around 300USD. Does it have the clarity and soundstage of my Dynaudio Excites? no! Do they have the midrange fullness and texture of my Spendor Classic 2/3s? no! But when you switch over from these speakers to the QX-2, I cannot help but marvel how close the QX-2 comes at a fraction of the price. For most regular people who couldn't give a rats ass about finer audiophile eccentricities, this is the end game!

@@darpanbhuyan1909 I had Lx2 mk1. Great speaker apart from tweeter gets to spicy with female singers when played loudish.

      @@darpanbhuyan1909 Tee-jay says they are a little dark sounding. I haven't heard the mk2.
Try to pair them with a brighter amp and give them some volume that's all can suggest.

I have the QX2, I though they were not so impressive for a while .... until one day when they have opened up ( finally burned in ) .... and the sound and bass gets better and better and wow .... then I saw one review saying that they are so good that they are the poor man's D!naudio ... you know what that means.

Do the vocals (mids ) get better ? Because i have the QX1 mk2 but the sound of the vocals is muffled

Yes, mid - high - especially bass all had gotten better. Have to do the burn-in process on the QX, but becareful with the volume that is safe for tweeter.

These speakers are not designed for near field listening. Turning them would have destroyed the dispersion and imaging. Unfortunately this makes your review on the whole invalid imho.......sorry
