This show is timeless 🥺 I will love it forever. There has never been a show this good ever in my life. I’m on my millionth rewatch of the series and it never gets old.
Just finished the entire series today. And to be honest, I couldn't ask for a better ending. The ending made sense and was a truly emotional episode. The writers and actors are genius's for creating this.
I can keep it together until Vincent comes along to comfort Jack as he dies.....this is one of the few TV moments that can make me shed tears, such a powerful ending to a great show. RIP Jack, a truly selfless hero.
wow i cry at the end after spending 3 weeks watching this on netflix its sad to see it over and with such a good ending. The part with the dog at the end was really good BEST SHOW EVER.
***** I was dealing with a lot of things when the finale originally aired- mostly preparing for graduation, my capstone, my exams, etc etc... and during the stress of preparing for it, a family member very close to me died, but I had no real way to properly grieve for his death because of the stress of everything. It was seeing this episode, and the amazing thought of how we will be reunited with those we love in death before moving on ruined me. It was the catharsis I needed after it all, and one of the most emotional moments I've had after anything related to TV or movies. I think I cried for hours and hours, and it was that good long cry I needed after everything. I can't express how much I love this ending for that, and the strangely mixed emotions of grief and hope I feel whenever I even think about it now. And it's amazing.
omgfloofy Oh I'm sorry i didn't get back to you you said that 6 months ago. your story is touching. I'm glad this gave you encouragement and hope at such good timing. I agree it was incredible ending even for me where nothing was really going on particularly bad in my life, i will remember this scene though when something does. have a good new year ...
LOST wasn't for light thinkers. Period. My best show ever. Period. It adds depth and deep meaning with not explaining much. That's why there is so much beauty in it. If people want everything to be explained to them, LOST is not for them!
Well I'm glad to hear it. I think a lot of people expected the "big reveal" to be something which explained and linked everything together, when all the biggest questions were answered previously.
:(( I love that TV show way better than the walking dead... whoever wrote it is a genius... got us lost in many ways, we laughed, cried, mixed feelings...it was produced in a talented way. The ending was happy and sad at the same time...wow great job I watched it many times and it still my number 1 TV show....hats off
Best: 5. "What Kate Does" 4. "Sundown" 3. "Happily Ever After" 2. "Across the Sea" 1. "The End (1/2)" This season was surprisingly better than the disappointing 4th and 5th. I was thrilled when Clair showed up again! I especially liked the sideways-world, and what it turned out to be eventually. How I missed Charlie! I wish Sayid was with Nadia, and that Ana Lucia, Eko, Walt, Alex, Rousso, Farraday and Frank were there. The rememberance scenes were so intense. Like a rollercoaster of tears
@DrugdPdestrian On the Season 6 DVD/Blu-ray there is a 10 minute epilogue episode called "The New Man in Charge". It follows Hurley and Ben as they clear up a few "loose ends" off the Island whilst they are in charge. I'm sure it's on here or somewhere on the internet if you search the title. :)
@SDKfilmproduction You're right, I did indeed forget. And let's not forget that Hurley and Ben took Walt to the Island a short while later in the epilogue.
I don't agree with everyone saying this is a bad ending or a disappointment. The beauty of it is precisely that we're searching for the truth, but there is no truth. Why need concrete explanations of what is the island, etc ? I think that was part of what the writers aimed: we all focus on what's unsignificant but on the edge of life, we suddenly find the essential thing: love, friendship. You know, I'm not christian or even religiously involved but that ending hurt the shit out of me. Beauty.
Haha! The thing is, I guess people just didn't remember what they've already watched (might be down to watching a lot of other shows) and when answers were given they forgot they were even asking the question!
They are missing a few people, Ana Lucia, Michael, Walt, Miles, Lapidus, Daniel, Charlotte, Richard, I know that Eko requested to leave the show but something should've been done that Eko sorta would've been in it, and why tf isn't Vincent in the Purgatory, like wtf
And Eko was to be given a role in the finale, but the actor who played him wanted more money than the guys in charge were willing to pay, so they decided not to include him in the ending.
Haha, I'll let you off. Yes, his stories are always captivating and mysterious. Although he doesn't have much to do with Lost and Fringe much after the first season or so because he obviously moved onto other projects, but his initial ideas remain in the shows.
Not all characters shown at the end are dead by the end of the show. Kate and Sawyer are there, but they made it off the Island. We never saw Hurley die either. They all die at some point in the future, and so the church timeline doesn't really have a "now". Boone would have experienced this timeline years before the rest of them right after his death, whilst in reality everyone else was still alive.
No only the flash-sideways scenes in Season 6 were set in the afterlife. The scenes on the Island and before the crash of Oceanic 815 were real life. Well, it was still a TV show so it didn't actually happen, but you know what I mean. It was never about people being dead until Season 6. As for wasting six years? Well you take what you want from watching any TV show. Whether it's knowledge or experience, or something else, you watch it because you want to, not because you're forced to.
the ending of the show is just so true to heart, like they are all finally happy but its the end of their life, they are dead, and they are finally content
Maybe so, but I felt Sundown's ending was one of the best of the season too...and the song ends quite a bit before the episode does. I wanted to include the song because it was a brilliantly eerie addition. RUclips wouldn't let me upload a video longer than 10 minutes for some reason even though I've seen people upload videos over that limit. If I had 15 minutes I could have done a lot more justice to some of the endings.
@TheHives95 That's an afterlife, where they all meet up after they die. They are in the chruch after they discover the truth about where they are and remember their former life. They then decide to "move on" to whatever is after that life together.
@MontageInHD Michael came back to the Island on a freighter undercover as Ben's spy, but died when it exploded. He bought everyone some time to escape. Walt lived off the Island until Ben and Hurley came back to get him after Jack died.
With Lost, you can't over think the ending. Because, if you do, you will be... LOST. The ending is simple, everyone died and they're going to Heaven together. At least that's what I figured.
maybe ... life was relative .... experience was the only thing that mattered in the end... it got them there..... in the end it might be something better than heaven ... you will have a reason to live with those people... those who you struggled with so much.... from then on .... every thing will happen .... nobody knows exactly what ...
@DrugdPdestrian It's good question.. I would tell you that I've just finished this amazing show and I can't believe it!! I'd spent 87 hours and 43 mins of my life in front of TV. Actually, the end has effected me a lot and I still feel it. It is such a long time that I've been trying to know what the end is. By the way, your question made to think of the answer which is Michael and Walt aren't supposed to be with them cuz they aren't on the list of the people who were meant to be on the ISLAND.
That's what I loved about the show. Other people complain that it's "confusing" and "nothing makes sense". Those people either have a hard time paying attention to things or are completely stupid. I mean seriously, God forbid there be a television show that requires you to use your brain.
Well we saw events happen in the outside world which were unrelated to any of the survivors. The two men in the artic monitoring electromagnetic pulses. All of the stuff Widmore was up to. We even saw the past of the Island long before the crash. (although you could argue they were dead, but who's perspective is it taking place from then?) The writers even addressed the idea of them all being dead several times in the show, and each time the characters were proven wrong.
Yeah, I don't know how either. I guess they need everything to be spelled out even clearer than it already was. The writers of the show wanted to avoid that and make the viewer actually put the pieces together and work it out.
@DrugdPdestrian We didn't see them in the flash-sideways world at all. It's because Michael's soul was still trapped on the Island, unable to move on because of what he did. Walt was recruited back to the Island by Hurley after everyone left, so it's likely he and Michael had their own afterlife with different people.
Well I have explained in replies to other comments, but I'll explain again here. Basically the world you see where everyone meets up in the church is a form of afterlife, which takes place after the characters deaths. They all meet up in the church once they have been "awakened" and remember their life on the Island before death, and then "move on" to whatever form of life is next, together.
We see in the last season that Michael's spirit still resides on the Island, and he can't move on into the next life. This is likely why Walt wasn't in that afterlife, and also because he left long before the rest so didn't bond with them enough to "move on" with them. We see in an after-finale epilogue that Hurley brings Walt back to the Island (probably to take the job as protector), so it's possible Michael and Walt's afterlife consisted of the people they spent time with after Walt returns.
Well I think walts life was spared and he is still alive... on the other hand, Michael is dead but he is still trapped on that island because his son is still alive, yet can't move on!
@Baker1000NxD I'm kidding man. Actually i sold my television set four years ago, i decided to concentrate on studying and reading rather. However, by then i was already hooked to the plot-line in LOST. I have been trying to watch the various seasons via youtube and other formats like cd's ever since then. Must admit, this is the best ending for LOST that could have been implemented and i liked it.
@GrinningTurtle42 Nope, I don't go on Lostpedia forums. Great to see a fellow Lostpedia watching my videos on RUclips. I don't recall seeing your username on there though, is it the same?
@Baker1000NxD Very close! his "son" was a manifestation in a "purgatory" like dimension where Jack reunited with the people who helped shape his life and everything he is (and vice versa), the light at the very end is the beginning of their afterlife together. I hope that clears things up!
@destroyentropy They did take the plane, but it's not the one you see crashed at the end. The one at the end was the original Oceanic flight and the TV studio decided to put in an old picture just as a quiet tribute to the very first episode. The writers had no say in the image being used, so it is not part of the story.
ok I wish people would stop hating on the finale! It was a beautiful way to end it all. I think it would be almost impossible to answer every single little mystery of the show. And it would be unrealistic to actually figure all of that out, I mean we don't have the answers to everything in our lives do we? They explained everything they needed to & I don't think the show would be half as successful without all the mystery.
Nope, Christian Shephard even says to Jack "the most important part of your life, was the time you spent [on the island] with those people." Everything that happened on the Island, really did happen to them. Once they died on the Island, they went into the afterlife we see in the final season.
Rahul Pathak I know right? 🤷🏽♀️ That ALWAYS really bothered me. I’m sure the excuse is Walt really grew into a teen that nearly looked like an adult. But still, it’s bull because they were originals. They even bought back Boon who was only in the 1st season. And Mr Echo should have been there too: pivotal part of the plot line...
Michael died when the boat exploded and Walt was taken back to the mainland until Hurley and Ben #1 and #2 came to him and brought him back to the island to take over the Job of protector of the island.
@jacaroo1000 Yes they did. They really crashed, and everything you saw really happened up until Jack died, then the flash sideways was a form of afterlife.
Ana Lucia was seen the episode before the finale. She helped break Kate, Sayid and Desmond out of jail in the flash-sideways, though didn't remember them. Hurley said she wasn't ready to join them in leaving in the church. Mr. Eko was nowhere to be seen because the actor who portrayed him wanted too much money for his appearance in the final episodes, so they didn't include him at all.
Rentham V.W. No we need another sequel. There is no other show like this out there & if anybody could pull off a sequel to Lost I will literally go nuts out of excitement. I need the feeling this show gave me again. Sometimes I wish show amnesia was possible.😂
@destroyentropy Well for a start, Hurley is left in charge of the Island along with Ben as his number 2. Frank Lapidus, Richard, Kate, Sawyer, Miles and Claire all manage to escape the Island. Everyone else dies though.
I think everyone knows jack is the main character since he opened his eye on the first episode and closed his eye on the last episode that you just saw at the end of this vid
This show is timeless 🥺 I will love it forever. There has never been a show this good ever in my life. I’m on my millionth rewatch of the series and it never gets old.

@HenTodolo He's in Season 4. Have you seen all the seasons?
@Baker1000NxD wait what? How do u know they brought back micheal?
