Travel east from Reykjavík, along Iceland´s southern coast, and visit two magnificent waterfalls. Around 1.5 hours from Reykjavík, Seljalandsfoss is a 239-foot (73-meter) beauty that you can walk behind. Skogafoss, a further 25 minutes east, is a 196-foot (60-meter) roaring giant that you can approach as close as you dare. After the excitement of Seljalandsfoss and getting a little bit wet, you should be ready for the glacier hike.
Sólheimajökull glacier is a part of Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland‘s fourth largest glacier that covers the infamous volcano Katla.
Head on toward the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, Iceland´s southernmost point, which has magnificent sea caves to explore . Admire the basalt column rocks surrounding the beach. then to Vík i Mýrdal to admire the sea stacks. Legend has it that the stack is in fact made up of the frozen figures of trolls who were turned to stone while playing in the sea. Visit in midsummer, and you will possibly also see puffins at the nearby Dyrhólaey cliffs.
