- Landscape designer/contractor Steve McDearmon of Garden Rhythms (Southern CA) uses dramatic succulents with swaths of rock. See more of Steve's gardens in the completely revised and updated second edition of Designing with Succulents. Rocks are: Mojave Gold gravel, Hickory Creek rubble rock, and Honey Quartz boulders (all from Southwest Boulder and Stone).

The colors of the rocks are so soothing and blend with each other so well.
I agree! And they blend with the surrounding hills and granite boulders.
I just think it’s so sweet and so cool that you make the effort to speak Spanish to the landscaper. ❤❤❤
Thank you! I love the Spanish language, but I don't speak it nearly as well as I'd like to. Nevertheless I occasionally impose on native speakers to indulge me.
Yes, very sweet way to say si es basura es mi basura. To be honest that sounded a bit pretentious and rude.
@@tomasdiaz4892 help me understand why it’s rude? To speak to someone in their native language? Most Americans don’t attempt to do this. Just trying to understand
@@Brittloren00 I’m not saying is rude to speak on another language, in fact it is a very nice gesture, but it is rude the way she suggested to that man that those shoots are hers, just assuming that he is going to take them with him. Just 5 miserable shoots.
Wow!!!! What a transformation!!!!!... and Debra speaks Spanish!!! 👏👏👏
Next house I have I'm doing a clean specimen garden - giving plants room to grow. I enjoy and appreciate this aesthetic.
Thanks Lonny -- I do think it's the garden of the future.
Hey! I recognize that circular planter!!! You did an amazing job Debra! Love love LOVE IT!
Love this! Great use of rock and drought-tolerant plants, plus it looks incredible.
Love the video are really appreciate the landscaper designer's knowledge. Would love to see what the landscape looks like in a couple of years once everything has matured. Love your videos Debra; thanks for sharing!!!
Great idea, Justin! I'll plan on doing a follow-up. Some of those plants, like the blue ceroids and the tree aloe (both situated against white walls), are going to be amazing!
The wildlife gardener in me enjoyed the before photos more. 😅❤
😆
Love it! Especially like the more subtle rock work.. Adds nice interest, but doesn't distract from the plants. Looking forward to more of these videos, Debra
Much appreciated, Sarah! Thank you!
Excellent information, thank you
Glad you found it helpful, Ryan. Thanks for commenting!
This guy is living my dream!!! It looks great I love the huge boulders by the walk way and up the staircase!!!! Thanks for the video any chance this house is in LA ??
Hi Armen -- It's in Escondido, in San Diego's North County. Thanks for your comment!
Very instructive and very attractive - especially about the different rock sizes (but - shhhh- I liked it better before! I like color.)
Like that guy! ❤ Smart 😊
Beautiful ♡
me encaaaantaaa tu español!
I am sorry but I like the landscaping that was before. It looked like a small oasis but now it just look plain desert like environment.
I have to say it was better before, in the beginning it was a beautiful established garden. Definitely agree about the rocks though, they make gardens look amazing
I should do a follow-up now that it's filled in.
Love your work love your books!
Thank you, Denise!

@@QueenofSucculents Thank you for the reply and information.
@@TS50ER My pleasure!
Si es basura es mío. Why is she assuming that this man is going to take those off springs with him? How rude!
