  • Hey guys.
    So we recently got stranded on a trip to Northen Florida en route to a rally.
    The bike ended up coming home on a trailer.
    This is the story of why our bike came home on a trailer.
    Have you ever had to tow your bike home?
    Why?

    Hey guys. I hope everyone had a great valentines day with your loved ones.
    Some times things happen on the road, and nothing goes your way.
    This was one of those times.

    Nice to see you mug again! And I thought I was the only one that that kinda crap happened to! Happy you made it back home! Sounds like a good time for a full bike inspection. Hope Nina feels better soon, too! Cheers!

      Hey Michael, yeah apparently you're not alone.
      We have been lucky thus far, and admittedly, I have been slacking with proper maintenance.
      Here in south Florida the air is very salty and corrosive, and can wreak havoc on motorcycles.
      I am in the process of a thorough inspection.
      I'll pass along the message to Nina.
      Thanks for the comment
      Mike

    Hi Mike, I have to say that I'm really enjoying the vlogs of your travels and the fact that yourself and Nina do it together is pretty cool. I'm sorry to hear about your latest troubles but it's good that you guys made it home safe and sound. It could have been much worst if the bearings failed while you were on the highway. It seems like you have been pretty much everywhere on your ST, how many miles do you have on it? Thanks for sharing your travels, I'm looking forward to the next one. Cheers.

      @youk thanks so much for your comment. Glad to hear you're enjoying our content. There will be more coming soon
      Yeah, this was by far the worst trip we had (or didn't have).
      I agree about the bearings, and I'm tall glad i found out before a catastrophic failure occurred.
      This bike has around 60k, and my last one just 50k when i sold it. So quite a bit of miles under my belt.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hey Mike sorry for your motorcycle trouble but glad you found the other issues with the bike and like you said it's best you corrected the problems at home rather thank 300 miles down the road also tell Nina I hope she feels better and as always looking forward to your next video.

    Wow, what a weekend..... We missed you at the rally. You have an open invitation for next year, but may I suggest coming via Jacksonville on 95? We can share some Corona's before heading west...:) Glad you guys are safe.

      Thanks buddy. It was quite the ordeal. I still feel horrible about not making it after all you guys went through for us.
      I appreciate the invitation, and look forward to it.
      I think I will take your advice and take I95.
      Ride safe.

    That has to be the worst motorcycle break down story I have ever heard! I have 4 motorcycles & keep a toy hauler hitched up waiting "just incase" at all times. Glad you worked it out! That had to be very frustrating.

    • @MRMRS2wheeler
      @MRMRS2wheeler  Год назад

      Very frustrating, especially since the folks at BMW arranged lodging and meals for us, at a great expense. I feel like I let them down.
      But there was nothing I could do.
      I am considering adding a hitch to the new truck though.
      Thanks for watching.

    Wow what a story I’m glad you made it back. It hard to believe in such a populated area that you would have so much trouble getting recovered from the side of the road. I’m just curious but when was the last time the wheel bearings were replaced? I had to replace my front bearings on a bike I bought new after 7 thousand miles. I was thinking in your story that the bmw club you were going to ride with was going to use there resources to save the day for you. That would have been nice.

    • @MRMRS2wheeler
      @MRMRS2wheeler  Год назад

      I couldn't believe it either.
      The biggest problem was most of the towing services are not required or have the know how to take motorcycles.
      The wheel bearings were replace about 2 years ago, right before a big trip. I was having new tires put on and the mechanic noticed the bearings were shot. They didn't last long.
      Was far as the BMW really, they asked how they could help, not they were to far away and with different size tires, of wouldn't have done any good.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.👍
      Ride safe

    Sheesh! What a lousy experience that was. I thought I was the only one with bad luck. 🥺 Hope it all works out in the end.

    • @MRMRS2wheeler
      @MRMRS2wheeler  Год назад +1

      In a way it did. It revealed some serious issues with the braking system that could of caused a lock up while riding.
      So, everything happens for a reason.
      Unfortunately, it will take me some time to get everything repaired due to health issues.
      Thanks for the comment.
      Stay safe.
      Mike

    Wow! What an ordeal!! I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. What a test of patience.
    I know we love our ST's but did this make you think maybe trade into a newer Goldwing?? 😉

    • @MRMRS2wheeler
      @MRMRS2wheeler  Год назад +1

      It sure was, lol.
      Luckily I am a very patient man, but this did put it to the test.
      I love my ST, it is one of the best built sport touring bikes, and I blame myself for the issues (aside from the tire blowout) I found.
      Those are all due to lack of maintenance and the fact that my bike lives outside, in the humid, salt air, Florida weather.
      No bike, can survive here without routine maintenance.
      Lesson here is don't just assume everything is good because the bike is running. It runs until it doesn't.
      Proper maintenance is crucial, don't neglect it.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@MRMRS2wheeler BTW, the most common wheel bearing killer are high pressure carwashes.

    • @MRMRS2wheeler
      @MRMRS2wheeler  Год назад

      @@garypaisley Agreed. They can damage a lot more then just the bearings. They can wreak havoc on electronics, seals, etc. I had to replace my gauges from just a simple wash with a hose.
