Update: after lubing the pivot points on the bail, it still feels the same. Idk what’s wrong with it but it it’s not a huge deal, I still like the reel.
The bail either has a spring or a magnet. Putting oil on it’s not gonna do anything. That’s just how the bail works. You gotta remember it’s not a Daiwa or Shimano it’s made by Duckett. The technology isn’t there. I have an ardent reel, and versus my tatula reels. The bail works like you’re talking about
Sorry for the late response, but after having this reel for over a year now. It’s definitely shown it’s Value, the drag works great. Feels a lot smoother than some of my other reels. Hope this helps.
After a few months with the reel, I actually don’t mind this handle style. I still believe the other system is bit more secure but I like this one too 👍🏻
@@BigDurtyMichigan On a more expensive reels, you’ll see the direct connection is more common. It’s a more secure fit. As long as you tightened it in, it’s not oing to come out. there’s no reason that you would turn the handle backwards hard enough to loosen it. But good idea to check every so often.
One more thing, the direct, connecting handle is a safer bet to not come loose. On the older style if that cap on the other end comes loose, it only has a few turns to it. If it falls off your handle will fall off. But if your handle loosens On the direct connection, you’ll notice it. It has more threads before it comes off , so you have less of a chance of it coming off and actually falling out.

how’s the drag? Have you had a chance to test it?

Why would you not like a one piece handle? It’s an upgrade just cause you haven’t seen. It isn’t a reason to not like it.. weird
