I also bought a yard leveling rake and plan to get rid of the dips in my yard and level it out. My back yards fence and I have a big dog that CONSTANTLY walks the perimeter of the fence so the grounds packed and hard to keep grass alive. Still trying to figure out how to make that better.

    I am so glad you are helping Cleet with the care of the grass. I live in the candy cane Christmas area in my city here in south Texas. In the evenings the amount of foot and car traffic from the weekend after Thanksgiving to Christmas is crazy. We also have a Christmas festival one weekend during that time. Since the homes are highly decorated we tend to over flow sidewalks and people want photos with some of the decorations. I have 5 mesquite trees in my yard which are wrapped in lights. Two of them have become photo ops and end up with trampled grass paths. So many houses have gone to roping off paths to minimize the damage to a smaller area. Do you have tips for prepping the grass for a faster recovery after an event like that?

    7-0-20 in October last year in FL Panhandle made the grass come back strong in the spring. Beginning of this spring I put down Lesco 15-0-15 slow release N. Things are looking good. 2 weeks ago I sprayed (not prayed) 0-0-2 MicroGreene but the grass was already dark green, so it did not do anything noticeable color-wise. Hopefully, praying was not mandatory :P... My problem is that my contractor soil is less than crappiest soil one could get. Having mature oak trees with close to the surface and very dense but fine roots make it really hard to get established for the St. Augustine.

  • @matthewray8329

    I enjoy learning new stuff about lawn care. I never realized how important K+ was in the spring until this year. Should we think of K+ like we do N? Like in pounds on the ground terms? For example, I have a farm supply store in my town that sells a 50lb bag of 0-0-46. It seems like that fert followed by a light coat of milo or carbon pro g would be a good start in the spring. So I guess I’m asking just how much K+ I should be putting down on a Bermuda/Zoysia mix in central Arkansas each spring? I put down a triple 13 mix the last week of March that got me a half pound of NPK each and after my scalp, everything is greening up nicely.

    • @TheLawnCareNut
      @TheLawnCareNut  3 года назад +1

      you need a little less K than N. somewhere around 1/2LB/1000 of K will be plenty for an application. If you apply along with Milo or Carbon Pro G you will get VERY good results

    saw this and had to ask about a typical problem
    poa annua is the topic, as is so often.
    I have a 1500 sq ft stretch of TTTF that is full of poa annua. i have listened to many a talks about pre emergent and the poa dying out in the summer. Problem i am having is the poa is not dying that has been in this same area for 2 seasons now. The pacific northwest where i live gets 80 ish in air temps on occasion but rare to have a week or two stretch with a constant, and in turn the old poa plants are still around. New plants have not emerged as I have been hitting the ground hard with prodiamine. How can one re seed or over seed an area like this with old poa that continues to thrive? Smoke out the entire area and reseed with tenacity and spray with prodiamine in the fall?

    Wow amazing transformation! Isn't St Aug the least Traffic tolerant of the warm season grasses? Darn, I was hoping you would show the irrigation troubleshooting or did ya leave it to Alec and I think Chris is the two track managers

      I have one head to replace - I will do it next week. And yes, SA is weak under foot traffic. It gives up easily.
