Best watch channel and content to bless RUclips's platform. Adept in watchmaking, but not just any watchmaker with average content. I enjoy watching the specific watches you get access to for restoration. Your video on modding the BB54 with genuine Rolex parts remains one of my top favorite watch-based videos on here. Great work as always. The 1016 looks beautiful. Today, I only have one question: regarding refinishing the perimeter of the dial, is that to prevent rust and further deterioration and/or purely for aesthetic reasons? I believe the dial's perimeter is under the rehaut, and perhaps that explains why some of the dial's finish deteriorated overtime? I have only modded and worked on affordable watches, so excuse my ignorance lol. I have no formal education in watchmaking.
Thank you for the kind words! Yes in fact patching the edge chips not only aesthetically improves the dial but also prevents more of the original paint from chipping and flaking off, some of it was hidden by the rehaut but there were a few sections of chipping that were quite visible pre-service.
Nice restoration. I presume the owner wanted the hands re-lumed. If it was my watch I would have wanted the original lume kept but stabilised with a coat of clear lacquer
Thanks. Yes owner asked for hand relume. Sometimes stabilization is a good option also... a lot depends on the condition of the hands pre service and the owner's aesthetic preferences.
Was explorer 1016 came with jubilee bracelet in the past or this one is non Rolex bracelet? I still have impression of explorer only on oyster bracelet
supposedly they were fitted with both. There's an excellent reference site online for the 1016 created by a friend of mine. Have a look. explorer1016.com/
Awesome, it did go with jubilee bracelet. I prefer the oyster bracelet but it would be nice if Rolex offered jubilee bracelet option for modern Rolex for people who want jubilee
Thanks for the video! As a watchmaker too, I strive to become better and look up to pros like you
Thad dial restoration is brilliant. So worth it.
Wow. I didnt even know it was possible to restore a dial like that. I wish all watchmakers were this capable
Awesome work on the restoration.

Great video, wonderful service. The 1016 is one of the best watch designs in my opinion. Always nice to see one.

Fantastic restoration. What “special solutions” do you use to clean the dial?
thanks! At this time they are not disclosed.
Interesting. You could tell me, then you’d have to kill me. 😂
