The idea of great player or greatest player is a recognition of individual skill and brilliance in the game of football. The winning of trophies is a result of a team/collective effort. So, it remains nonsensical to deny a player recognitions of great and greatest because his team did not win a World Cup. Mario Goethe scored the winning goal in the World Cup, yet none of us are foolish enough to rate him above Messi or Ronaldo. So, let’s just stop the foolishness. Even our sub-conscious knows better than to use winning the World Cup as a measure of who is the better player. Which is why it does not allow us to think of Goethe above those two great ones.

So first thing let's look at all the players that are in the question for the best in history apart from Messi and we notice something that they have in Common.THEY HAVE ALL WON THE WORLD CUP or some other international major trophy.

R9 was great internationally, yet he was playing in a significantly better team than Messi at the time he won those trophies. And while he had the better big game record internationally, he doesn't compare to Messi at club level, which is the marker for consistency. He also didn't win a CL, which shows the massive flaw in your argument, given you said the best of all must win all competitions. This was despite playing with the likes of Zidane, Figo, Beckham, Raul, Carlos, etc too. His peak also lasted a fraction of what Messi's has and his overall numbers don't come close. We also know that Ronaldo's career was cut short due to injuries and his lifestyle and so longevity for me doesn't come into the equation as what I said still remains being the best means winning and as you are judging them as individuals we must look at their abilities and Ronaldo individually would change big games alone on a more consistent level in more than one major league that didn't have the players he had at Real Madrid.
Maradona also did the same and they both did it at both domestic and international level.

Okay, let's take Shaka's argument to its logical conclusion. Only eight nations have ever won the World Cup: Uruguay, Italy, Brazil, Germany, England, Argentina, France and Spain. A player from Equatorial Guinea could match Messi or Pele's numbers throughout his club career, but not be considered the GOAT because Equatorial Guinea, in all likelihood, will never be in a position to win the World Cup. Football is a team sport, not an individual sport. It's not Messi's fault that the rest of the Argentina squad hasn't been good enough, even when he's played well for them.

Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi, Maradona, Cryuff, Best, Pele, Ronaldinho, Platini and Ronaldo Fenomeno have produced great moments after great moments. So when comparing them you have to nitpick their careers. With Messi it is simple especially for Shaka. He has not won a World Cup and has yet to set the international stage at a tournament alight. Some might point at the UCL and say he is great there and that is where the best players play, but we all know he is not the greatest UCL player of all time, that would be Cristiano. There is more against Messi being the GOAT than the others.

He also has been top scorer in the competition six times and has 114 goals, which underlines just how great he's been. People who just look at his failures in the CL are illogical, given apart from CR, nobody else since the CL era began has shone like him. Most players are lucky if they win one CL and some greatest, like R9 have even failed to do that.
As for the world cup, while he has never truly shone in the knockouts, this was a player who was key in Argentina's route to the final in 2014, given his 4 goals and assist, which led to him winning a golden ball. To be the best, what should matter above all is ability and consistency over your career, not team trophies, given that is dependent on the team, not an individual.

He has only had one great performance(2018) and one good one(2015) l. 2013 he was injured so he gets a pass. But the others were absolutely terrible for someone who people are saying is the greatest.

They might have been more technically gifted but they did not achieve better than a Ronaldo or Zidane. In fact Cryuff is seen as one of if not the greatest mind in football.

I don't get the World Cup Tournament argument, Messi has been consistent amazing in his 15 years of football, beating every record, winning every cup and playing like any other player for 700 games in his club.

Absolutely ridiculous to keep using the world cup against Messi. Teams win trophies, not one player. That's the case for anyone who has won a world cup. For instance, those who claim Maradona won a world cup alone are either uninformed or delusional. As great as he was in 86, he had teammates who scored crucial goals, including three to beat West Germany in the final. That's the difference to Messi not winning it in 2014, where he came so close, in what was a team where the attackers around him managed just 2 goals between them in 7 games, which was obviously not helped by how defensive the side was. Messi was far from his best in the knockouts, yet his goals got Argentina through the group and he assisted in the knockouts. Fact is, he shined for four games in a row, created the most chances at that world cup and was directly involved in 6 of the 8 goals Argentina scored, considering though only had that one assist, his free kick in the opening game also led to Bosnia scoring an own goal.
In any case, what should matter above all is ability and consistency with an individuals performance, which Messi has shown for well over a decade now. There's nobody who can match his level as a combined goalscorer, playmaker and dribbler. That's what makes him the greatest ever by a distance imo.
