I love the theory of having 16 Eikons, 8 of them being light versions and 8 dark counterparts. That makes perfect sense with what we know about the story so far and with it being FF16. Thanks for bringing that idea up, I hadn't heard it before.
Ff12 hás the scions of light and darkness. We use the Scions of darkness( espers), they rebeld against the gods(occuria) só they were cast out/exiled. Wish ff12 would get a true sequel ( none of that revenant wing plot) that would aproach the scions of light and occuria.
If there's any one thing I hope they do in FF16 it's a true modern FF6-style "World of Ruin" section. They had it in 15 but it was very half-baked, being able to explore a now post-apocalyptic version of a game world you just traversed & fought through all of has been one of my favorite storytelling devices in games ever since FF6. Perhaps in 16 you encounter the 8 Light Espers in the first half, then the villain wins and unleashes the 8 Dark Espers in the 2nd half and they destroy the world.
I agree. FF7 tried to do it with the Meteor falling but I know what you mean. I like having the “World of Ruin” arcs. FF13 Lightning returns also tried it but was meh.
First of all thank you so much for the amazing effort! Truly appreciated! With ppl working on this & with yoshida comment about "reigniting" old fans is what made me happy! Ppl who love old ff and its worlds, FF hasn't been the same after FFX and since Sakaguchi left and i feel this team knows what it takes to make FF grounded and fantasy again! To have fantastic emotional story, towns to visit,npcs to talk to, all these stuff, all ff after 10 wasn't the same and its been 21 years which is a long time "aside from FF7R ofc" this looks like everything i wanted! I am 100% sure the next trailer and info will blow us away with its quality and suprises, at first i wasn't excited when i saw ff16 it felt rough and just not hype as always but now i am sure they will do it justice hopefully! I just hope its party team based rpg and not one character game, hopefully its more technical and not just full on action, my guess it will be first quarter 2023! I think XBC3 was pushed because splatoon 3 will be in September so they wanted to branch their games better.
I really like action combat in certain RPGs, but as a 30+ year veteran of the series I would like Final Fantasy to return to being a turn-based, four party member affair. I know that one of the defining characteristics of the series is that it is always trying to reinvent itself, but I think there are a lot of fans both old and new who would prefer it the way it used to be, especially after 13 and 15. There are plenty of other good action RPGs and Final Fantasy doesn't have to try to be one of them.

It seems that shifting into action gameplay is set in stone (Crystal? 🤓). I guess that Square Enix will keep doing turn-based RPG for other licences like the Bravely Default series, etc. Despite this, I hope you will enjoy FFXVI 🙂.
@@Makuro_XIII I completely agree that Final Fantasy isn't going to go back to it's glory days of turn-based. FFXIII and FFXV weren't great games, but the success of FF7Remake has probably solidified Final Fantasy as an action game forevermore. If Dragon Quest ever goes action, then you know turn-based is in trouble. I do intend to give XVI an honest chance though.
XVI is the game that's going to make me buy a PS5 finally. Everything shown so far makes it look incredible and I especially like that the combat system is taking some inspiration from DMC and has the combat developer for DMC and Dragon's Dogma working on it. Those games have stellar combat and if this game has even 1/4th of the combat complexity and options as DMC I'll be happy. While I'm waiting for XVI I'm playing FFVII Remake on my PC and doing another run of FFX on my PS4 at the moment. For all its faults XV happened to be one of my favorite games of the past gen and it looks like SE are doing their best to not make the same mistakes they did with FFXV with this one, so this game might have the potential to be one of the finest works in the series. If they confirm the release date to be 2023 I'm going to go buy a PS5 ASAP.

They soon realized, however, that ff13 was no longer successful, and as such had to effectively start from scratch on 15 mid development. The story had to be rushed due to their focus on combat and gameplay, resulting in a story that was effectively half baked.
If you look the banner, there is dragons so my guess is that their Eikon is Bahamut. But if the light and dark Eikons are used then Alexander as the light and Bahamut as the dark.
The focus of Eidolons for the story is simply amazing. It’s giving me Naruto tailed beast vibes, as each of the five great nations (villages) had a tailed beast. I cannot wait for more gameplay and truly excited for a potential release window or date.

So what I am getting from all this the most - which is something I, as a FFXIV player, already knew - is that we *really* don't deserve Yoshi-P, he is Squeenix's most precious treasure and needs to be protected at all costs.

it's astounding how good Vagrant Story looked for a PS1 game. Also, I love the art style of XVI, XIV, XII etc, no idea who that artist is, but those wallpapers are always dreamy and wonderful to look at!

Yeah 15 did a good job with making a pretty-looking open world, but it definitely lacked in the side-missions. I hope square Enix does a better job with this game.

I'm not used to major Final Fantasy releases having uncomplicated development cycles and competent producers. I'm like "what's the catch?" as I wait for news about a major delay or something. I’m starting to feel hopeful but I don’t want to get crushed!
@@StraightcheD Couldn't have been since the 90s. Back then Square was releasing these games very quickly and sometimes even yearly. The protracted cycles, and major delays didn't start until the PS2, and especially the PS3, days.

There's a lof of reasons I'd buy a PS5, but this game is one of the highest reasons. There's just something about Final Fantasy that I just can't find in other JRPGs, even JRPG franchises made by Square Enix.
Maybe, Clive Rosfield is also a Dominant from his mother side of family (From The Iron Kingdom) not from father(Grand Duchy of Rosaria). So he might be dominant of another more powerful element like holy (Alexander) or non-elemental (like Bahamut or Yojimbo), there might be brand new Eikon/Summon like Anima in FFX and Brynhildr/Hecatoncheir in FFXIII.
Really excited! I don't play MMORPGs, so I never played XIV, but the Ivalice-esque scenario is great. Plus, the "crystal nation" was some of my favorite parts of Type-0 and Brave Exvious' stories. Hope it's a great game.
I only go back to FF14 every 2 years and play for a month every expansion. It's essentially a single player game with some multiplayer elements unless you want to deep dive into post end game content.
What I want from an FF game is to be able to see armor changes. I don't bust my ass to get great armor just for stats numbers to change. Gimme some visuals.
It's been assume that FFXVI pre-production have begun after they finished Heavensward hence why there's so many people from Heavensward working on the game

I definitely think this game has serious FF14 inspiration in it's aesthetics design. I misread the Roman Numerals the first time I saw this trailer and was like hey MC guy from ff14 got a new haircut nice.
Someone in another vid brought up a point that someone might have the ability to turn into other eikons given the newest trailer. Tip off being the eyes which are usually blue on all the summons occasionally appear yellow in other scenes.
Man we have not seen that much yet but I am so hyped for this. High fantasy medieval setting and yoshi p as director. This game could turn out really really great

My only Issue with the prediction of a fall 2022 release is the fact Square is dropping a new IP Forspoken in October. I feel like they need to space out FF16 from it or that game is DOA. That's why I'm still leaning either winter 2022 or even Q1 2023.

The fact that Yoshi-P wanted to work with Yasumi Matsuno, and the recent reveal that he once worked on a cancelled game for Square Enix that was basically Bloodborne, makes me think how amazing it would be if Yoshi-P led the development of a Vagrant Story remake that made the combat in that game more Souls-like! I mean.. Vagrant Story shares a lot of DNA with the Soulsborne games, and given their huge popularity, it just seems right!! And Vagrant Story has enough unique elements in it that it wouldn't come off as a ripoff or clone. Furthermore, one criticism some people have of games like Elden Ring and Bloodborne are a lack of story.. Well, Vagrant Story has some of the best storytelling and writing I've seen in a game! Come on Square Enix -- get on that!! :)
My relationship with Final Fantasy is such a weird one. I’ve loved playing them since I first played FFX. And I’ve played a majority of them; FFIV, FFVI, FFVII-FFX, FFXII, FFXIII, FFXV, TYPE-0, Crisis Core, and a couple others. Yet I had never beat even one until probably three years ago with FFIX and then FFVIII. However, I’ve always gotten to the last dungeon in just about all the ones I’ve play over the years. Every time. And every time there’s always something that happens to prevent me from beating them. Wether that be losing memory cards in the case of FFVII-FFX, or fast traveling out of an area that you have no way to return to thus road block me from completing the game like with FFXV. Every time without fair, multiple times. It was really getting ridiculous. 😂 Then finally during the pandemic I was able to finally complete FFIX and FFVIII. Which led me to adore FFIX and it’s characters, despite really disliking it as a kid. I’m just hoping that I don’t end up repeating that stupid pattern with FFXVI. So hyped! And what makes me even more hyped is who the Combat Designer is! 😁 I love DMC5, and can’t wait to see what what final fantasy could be like as an action game that’s actually a complex JRPG lmao
Give me a medieval journey across the known and unknown world like ff9 did with charm, tragedy, humor and fun optional grinds that give you access to spells/ weapons a bit earlier then the game intends at certain break points - to let you have an easier time with otherwise tough bosses - and we good.
Even though it seems unlikely, I hope it’s somehow Ishikawa over Maehiro doing the story. Maehiro seems a little more hit or miss, but damn, Ishikawa is phenomenal. Heavensward was absolutely amazing, but Shadowbringers and Endwalker blew everything out of the water. Though, I’m not gonna complain about Maehiro lol
Although everyone trust yoshida because of ffxiv resurrection. The tactics ogre influence seems like a much better signal that this title will truly break the cycle that the main line series has gotten into. I'm hyped even though I will not be able to play it on day one. FFXII still hurts me like a lost opportunity to make something great
This is looking good. I had issues with XIV. With main characters not talking, dragons vocalizing in an echo chamber with nothing audible. Not hearing them talking made it, for me, fragmented and incomplete.
Yoshi-P is not a director of this game tho. He is just a producer. Creative Business Unit III of course make the game. So that same FF14 creative unit. So yes, i can't wait till the release!
I hope this game will be better than FF15 because as an Kingdom Hearts fan Final Fantasy 15 felt like the less sociable younger brother of Kingdom Hearts, even though Kingdom Hearts started as an spin-off to Final Fantasy.
I can't help but wonder if Square's reluctance to re-reveal 16 is in any way related to the recent buyout rumours. Maybe they want to save the big trailer for their potential soon-to-be new parent company Sony? And Yoshida, seemingly annoyed with that reluctance, is now putting a bit of public pressure on them, by stating that the trailer is done?

The “halfway” boss will be a midterm exam that makes all previous bosses completely pointless.

@@AlexRN If you say so. As somebody who lived in Japan at the time I seem to remember that it was sometime during Snes era that I first heard about it, but you may very well be correct since I'm not so confident about exactly when it was.
There's a lof of reasons I'd buy a PS5, but this game is one of the highest reasons. There's just something about Final Fantasy that I just can't find in other JRPGs, even JRPG franchises made by Square Enix.
Maybe, Clive Rosfield is also a Dominant from his mother side of family (From The Iron Kingdom) not from father(Grand Duchy of Rosaria). So he might be dominant of another more powerful element like holy (Alexander) or non-elemental (like Bahamut or Yojimbo), there might be brand new Eikon/Summon like Anima in FFX and Brynhildr/Hecatoncheir in FFXIII.
Really excited! I don't play MMORPGs, so I never played XIV, but the Ivalice-esque scenario is great. Plus, the "crystal nation" was some of my favorite parts of Type-0 and Brave Exvious' stories. Hope it's a great game.
first word of advice. PLAY FFXIV, as someone who also doesn't play MMO's its easily the best thing final fantasy has done since 6
I only go back to FF14 every 2 years and play for a month every expansion. It's essentially a single player game with some multiplayer elements unless you want to deep dive into post end game content.

It's been assume that FFXVI pre-production have begun after they finished Heavensward hence why there's so many people from Heavensward working on the game

I definitely think this game has serious FF14 inspiration in it's aesthetics design. I misread the Roman Numerals the first time I saw this trailer and was like hey MC guy from ff14 got a new haircut nice.

Someone in another vid brought up a point that someone might have the ability to turn into other eikons given the newest trailer. Tip off being the eyes which are usually blue on all the summons occasionally appear yellow in other scenes.

My only Issue with the prediction of a fall 2022 release is the fact Square is dropping a new IP Forspoken in October. I feel like they need to space out FF16 from it or that game is DOA. That's why I'm still leaning either winter 2022 or even Q1 2023.
I agree. I predict if they really are going to try to get it out this year it will probably be in December. Otherwise I would say it be out by April perhaps.

The fact that Yoshi-P wanted to work with Yasumi Matsuno, and the recent reveal that he once worked on a cancelled game for Square Enix that was basically Bloodborne, makes me think how amazing it would be if Yoshi-P led the development of a Vagrant Story remake that made the combat in that game more Souls-like! I mean.. Vagrant Story shares a lot of DNA with the Soulsborne games, and given their huge popularity, it just seems right!! And Vagrant Story has enough unique elements in it that it wouldn't come off as a ripoff or clone. Furthermore, one criticism some people have of games like Elden Ring and Bloodborne are a lack of story.. Well, Vagrant Story has some of the best storytelling and writing I've seen in a game!

My relationship with Final Fantasy is such a weird one. I’ve loved playing them since I first played FFX. And I’ve played a majority of them; FFIV, FFVI, FFVII-FFX, FFXII, FFXIII, FFXV, TYPE-0, Crisis Core, and a couple others. Yet I had never beat even one until probably three years ago with FFIX and then FFVIII. However, I’ve always gotten to the last dungeon in just about all the ones I’ve play over the years. Every time. And every time there’s always something that happens to prevent me from beating them. Wether that be losing memory cards in the case of FFVII-FFX, or fast traveling out of an area that you have no way to return to thus road block me from completing the game like with FFXV. Every time without fair, multiple times. It was really getting ridiculous. 😂 Then finally during the pandemic I was able to finally complete FFIX and FFVIII. Which led me to adore FFIX and it’s characters, despite really disliking it as a kid. I’m just hoping that I don’t end up repeating that stupid pattern with FFXVI. So hyped! And what makes me even more hyped is who the Combat Designer is! 😁 I love DMC5, and can’t wait to see what what final fantasy could be like as an action game that’s actually a complex JRPG lmao

Give me a medieval journey across the known and unknown world like ff9 did with charm, tragedy, humor and fun optional grinds that give you access to spells/ weapons a bit earlier then the game intends at certain break points - to let you have an easier time with otherwise tough bosses - and we good.
I still think the trailer was a bait and switch where Clive’s mission is to kill his brother as he somehow switches from Phoenix Eikon to Ifrit.
Even though it seems unlikely, I hope it’s somehow Ishikawa over Maehiro doing the story. Maehiro seems a little more hit or miss, but damn, Ishikawa is phenomenal. Heavensward was absolutely amazing, but Shadowbringers and Endwalker blew everything out of the water. Though, I’m not gonna complain about Maehiro lol

Although everyone trust yoshida because of ffxiv resurrection. The tactics ogre influence seems like a much better signal that this title will truly break the cycle that the main line series has gotten into. I'm hyped even though I will not be able to play it on day one. FFXII still hurts me like a lost opportunity to make something great

Yup, 15 is really 13 versus. Awful game.
This is looking good. I had issues with XIV. With main characters not talking, dragons vocalizing in an echo chamber with nothing audible. Not hearing them talking made it, for me, fragmented and incomplete.

Yoshi-P is not a director of this game tho. He is just a producer. Creative Business Unit III of course make the game. So that same FF14 creative unit. So yes, i can't wait till the release!

I hope this game will be better than FF15 because as an Kingdom Hearts fan Final Fantasy 15 felt like the less sociable younger brother of Kingdom Hearts, even though Kingdom Hearts started as an spin-off to Final Fantasy.

I can't help but wonder if Square's reluctance to re-reveal 16 is in any way related to the recent buyout rumours. Maybe they want to save the big trailer for their potential soon-to-be new parent company Sony? And Yoshida, seemingly annoyed with that reluctance, is now putting a bit of public pressure on them, by stating that the trailer is done?
