I built one just like this. Just got it wired into the boat with a timer switch and alligator clips. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ended up paying over 50 for this model and they still shipped me the new model that is around 16.00 on Amazon, and has oval bottom that won't work :(. I'm waiting on dealer response. New model is the 360-24DA
@@2olvets443I just found this video recently and am gathering the pieces to build my own. I got the new oval model and overcame the shape by buying a 2” flexible coupler. It’s made for unpressurized sewer drainage connections. It uses hose clamps and will conform to the oval bottom just fine. It’s about $8 at big box home improvement stores. Those Venturi’s are also about $30 now so I’m going to try to make my own if I can.
LOVE IT! I have a 30 Gallon Tank, I draw fresh water into it constantly to keep bait alive on my boat. THIS will add the ability to move from lake to lake while keeping my bait alive! GOOD build Love it!
Mark where the three bolts touch the bottom of the bucket... epoxy three strong rare earth magnets to those spots. Then when you put the filter into the bucket the magnets grab it and don’t let go unless you remove it.
Fabulous video. Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for I have the same style tank thank you my question is do you have a link of all the parts I know most of them. Just the 90 on the pump it self.
I too built a pump/filter similar to the one you have and the one problem I have encountered is when I first put shad in my 30 gal. tank from the lake, the filter clogs up pretty fast from the shad scales and the pump all but stops pumping. Then I have to disassemble the pump to change out the filter material numerous times until all the shad scales are gone which can be a pain in the rearend. Now when I use the tank for bluegill & perch for flathead fishing, this design works great because bluegill and perch don't lose their scales like shad do. By no means am I bashing your design but in my experiences it just doesn't work well for shad.
Randy Beck - empty your cast net into a separate bucket then use a bait net to put them into your bait tank. It really cuts down on the amount of scales.
Agreed. You should always dump the net in a separate bucket first. Never dump into your main bait tank. Besides scales you're dumping sticks and debris. But scales are the worst for sure.
Thought about using a timer.Spent enough on this though already.Should of got a venturi like yours instead of spending money on the one from Striper Soup which was pretty expensive.
Great job I have a question can you tell me where does the filtered debris goes does it stay trapped in the filter in the bottom so to clean the filter you have to take it apart is that correct? Please explain very good design would like to build one for my self thanks for sharing
I did on my build, they fit perfectly bolted from inside. Not very willing to hold on to an old live well though. I put 6 2oz egg weights in the base. Will see how it works. If nothing else they hold it up to make the gap for in flow.
While a major brand bait tank is on and running , look inside it ,, every one I’ve ever looked in has the water turning counter clock wise in a circle ,,, there is a reason for that , see if you can find out why.
I built this and for some reason it's not pumping thru the filter portion. I lift the pump up to where just the pipes are in the water and it's not sucking anything thru it.

BEST build that I have saw on you-tube,,,, Good job.... THANKS YOU VERY MUCH....

Great idea!!
@@EastTennesseeFishing Did you try this? I don't think that would work with stainless steel bolts though...
@@EastTennesseeFishing that would be good to use for a sump tank too
Magnets won't stick to stainless.
Great job and a very good explanation of build! I wish some of the others knew the definition of the word explain....

Thats awesome! Thank you for sharing!

Ditto. Dump in bucket let the shad purge piss and crap for a couple of minutes then transfer to bait tank
Very nice great info great video thank you
Thank you
Finding it hard to get the kit
Your v lucky with your home depot etc
Good video..Bulit one like that for my garage and us ea 110volt to 12volt converter and noticed over time the water got pretty warm from the pump.
newyota1 add a livewell time to it for $40 and it will switch on and off and keep the temp lower and extend the life of the pump.

yes, all filters need to be cleaned manually. It's awesome but it is not magic
what was wrong with th eone you did with the shoreline pump ...as thats the one im building at moment ...cheers
Have you tried suction cups on the bottom?

How well do you think it will filter a small livewell full of sardines? Lots of scales foam and poop
rubber suction cups on the bottom , won;t rust easily removable
What improvements have you made on this system ?
Wouldn't adding charcoal into your filter help in removing ammonia from the bait bucket.
What is the black connection? What size is it?
perfect thanks
Mine keeps falling over any suggestions on keeping it standing
Ypu can buy suction cups that will mount to the bottom off amazon extremely cheap 👍

Adding weight - A Stainless plate on the bottom with longer foot bolts going through the stainless plate. Just my idea. what do you think.
I built this and for some reason it's not pumping thru the filter portion. I lift the pump up to where just the pipes are in the water and it's not sucking anything thru it.
Not sure if anyone suggested this yet but you can Velcro it to the bottom
What are you using to connect the venturi valve to the bilge? and is that 3/4 in diameter?
what size are the bolts that go in the bottom of the drain with the nuts attached to keep it off the bottom?
brian weaver actually I went and got some suction cups and use them now and they snap right in there.
EastTennesseeFishing , where did you get the suction cups? So they have just a single peg on the bottom?
What’s the stainless steel bolts for once bottom?
Cat Daddy Fishin those are put on there as feet to allow the water to flow under and up into the filter.
order some small suction cups and suction it to the bottom you will not need weights to hold it in
The problem with any bilge pump setup is the fact that the pumps heat the water up.
In this application that's not an issue.
Bilge pump arnt designed for continuous use either
Part List? ;D
Can u send me the name everything that you used ,thanks
where does the small black hose go ? is that for Aeration ? does it just create a vacuum that draws air ?
John Korn it's all in a Venturi valves kit I bought
What does it filter?
Scales and excrement
i have the same color shih tzu
