      lol, if only - although I do hope one day to get a big cat on a cam. The plan is to set a few out where I know there have been sightings. Most of my mates have seen at least one and I got a great view of one from about 30-40 yds one night. It wasn't black like most people report, it was a dark sandy colour with huge tail just like a mountain lion.

    Richard I just wanted to thank you for this review. I'd been looking for an update to my old Ltl acorn cameras, and everything looked too expensive. This little campark is just the thing and is proving itself picking up wallabies, echidnas, and possums on my bush block here in Tasmania. I also never did thank you for your demonstration of how to "squeak" rabbits out of their warrens, so thanks for that too! All the best mate.

    Thanks for the great video. Trying to decide between this and Neewer 16mp Cam that you reviewed for my birdbath videos, and am deducing from your reviews that Campark would give me better videos for my purpose. Very busy birdbath, so I expect to go through a lot of batteries and memory. Thanks. Cheers!

    Great honest review as usual. Looks like a great bit of kit punching well above its price band. I like kit like this just shows you don't have to spend massive amounts to get a decent product. Review videos I have coming soon will also show to low cost kit that performs very well.

      Sounds good to me man and you don't have to spend crazy money to get good gear.
      Most of my outdoor gear is second hand including my clothes as they are way over priced when new and so many people buy stuff and don't use it so it is available in new condition for bargain prices.

    Very interesting PG. just to pass a bit of info on regarding batteries. You may or may not be aware of this. Which magazine did a survey on the longest lasting batteries. You would think it would be Duracell’s given the price,...you’d think. The longest lasting batteries are actually...drumroll please....Aldi own brand, solar cell. At 60p for four AA’s as opposed to four quid plus for Duracell’s, a def no brained. I now use Aldi own brand in all my lights and gear now. Just thought I’d pass this on, hope it helps.

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  6 лет назад

      Awesome, although the batteries in this cam seem to last for ever generally game cams are greedy with batteries so I'll call into Aldi the next time I'm in my local town.
      Groovy.

    • @IsleofWightBushcraft
      @IsleofWightBushcraft 6 лет назад

      Sorry Richard, slight error on my part, the batteries are called areocell not solar cell, and they sell them in Lidl. But they’re better than Duracell apparently. Ok Richard, sorry about that mate.

      Yes a decent buy considering the very low price. Video quality is definitely not as good as the 14MP Bushnells I have but none of the cheaper cams compare to those ones for video quality. Everything else is as good and I reckon the control interface is much better than the Bushnells I have too.

      It always clears a bit during the winter so is OK at present but I will be making a large filter for it when I get the new office built as much of the stuff under the cabin will be moved down there giving me space to build a mega-filter.

    Hi RIchard, I bought this camera based on your review to use on my allotment where I wanted to see the comings and goings of people on my plot. In a month+ and battery working properly I didn't pick up anything at all.
    Do you think that placing the camera in front of glass might cause the sensor not to work?

    do you have any knowledge/experience with using solar panels with the cams?
    I have a couple of the suntek cams, the HC800A and two HC801A cams. I have 2 solar panels to use with them, and info I have seen(not that there is much) shows 9V solar panels being used with them. however, the cams are 6V cams, and even show 6V on the spot where the panel would plug in. doesn't seem right to use a 9V solar panel with a 6V cam. unless, maybe they have circuitry built in to protect for that???

    Hi Richard
    Thanks for this comprehensive review. I've been looking for a new trail cam for a few weeks now and doing lots of reviews on the net. I watched your review and was impressed, particularly by your comments on battery life, as I know that trails cams guzzle a lot of juice. I did ultimately decide on a Crenova RD1000, but I received and tried it, and I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the daytime footage, so I returned it. I then decided, based on your review (which I should have gone for in the first place), to go for this Campark. I've only being using it a week or so, but so far I'm really impressed with the quality of both day and night footage.
    The only concern I have Richard, and a question for you if I may, is the audio. The audio sound is extremely low compared to another trail cam I have which records hedgehogs crunching their biscuits very clearly. And I'm unsure whether this is general to this particular cam, or whether it's a faulty item and therefore I need to return it for a replacement. What's the audio like on the one which you have and what's your opinion ?
    Cheers in advance
    Mel

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  6 лет назад

      Audio is generally poor on game cams unless conditions are very calm then it is slightly less poor, lol - was the campark used in the same place as you recorded good sound with the other cam?

    • @melallmark
      @melallmark 6 лет назад

      Pondguru - Yes it was, just in my back garden. My other trail cam has really good audio and also daytime footage is crisp, but the night footage is really unpredictable. It records completely black footage, even though I exchanged it for another, pity really. But I'm extremely happy with this Campark so far. But I just wanted to check if the low audio was a general thing with this particular model, or whether I'd been sent a dodgy one.

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  6 лет назад

      I have Bushnell cameras which cost 3x as much as the cheap 12MP cameras and although the picture and video quality is noticeably more sharp and crisp the audio is no better.

    • @melallmark
      @melallmark 6 лет назад

      I see, think I can forgive the low audio then in that case, I'm more interested in the video footage....thanks Richard, appreciate your opinion and response.
      Also, my batteries have started to now run low after about a week and a half (using Duracell), so all night footage is black and says 'low battery'. I therefore removed all batteries, hooked it up to the mains last night, and again all night footage was black, with 'low battery' but all morning footage was fine. I'm unsure why night footage should record black and say 'low battery' when its plugged into the main directly?! - Any thoughts on this Richard? (hope you don't mind me asking a further point)

    I've bought a couple, not getting anywhere near that quality in any lighting scenarios as of yet. Still testing them, battery life seems to be a problem for them as well, and recording to the micro sd cards doesn't always occur even still batteries keep dying. So may be some lemons but two of them doing the same thing is curious.

      They are both good and the footage / pictures are the same quality with both cameras. They are both low-glow too.
      The powerextra camera I reviewed before this one was no-glow so would be a better choice if you thought humans may stumble across the location (doesn't give off a dull red glow when triggered at night)

    EPIC kingFisher Footage!!!!!!
    what were the Fry it caught?
    some type oF coarse Fish? i thought you removed them all? (Few stragglers maybe?)

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  6 лет назад +2

      It was roach and /or rudd fry it was catching there - there are thousands of them so it is a great feeding station for kingfishers. I didn't remove the rudd and roach as they do a good job of feeding trout and don't mess the pond up like carp do.

    Hey I need help please! I have this camera and its not taking pictures. I seem to be using the same settings, and I know I have animals where it is pointed as I put food out that is getting eaten. After I turn to on.. I see a countdown and then I leave the camera. Nothing captured yet. Once I accidentally left on "settings", instead of, "on" and drained the batteries in a week. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @pondguru

      That seems strange but I had a similar problem from a camera by another manufacturer - it sounds like the sensor is not being triggered so it would be best to send it back for replacement.

    Does this camera only take a 10min video for the wole day then its done. Or does it record for the whole day?

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare Год назад

      (my other channel) The camera will take videos up to 10 minutes length but there is no limit as to how many videos it can take in a day. If the camera is triggered it will continue to take photos or / and videos for as long as it takes for the batteries to run out or the SD card get full of footage.
      I can leave my cameras out for months before the batteries run out or the card is full but I tend to set them well out of the way in relatively 'quiet' places.

    Great video, very informative and helpful, I just wondered if you could answer one question, is the target time recording for specifically the device to work between a set period i.e. 12 o'clock in the evening till 8 o'clock in the morning example. Would really appreciate it if you could find the time for a quick answer as I am looking for a model with this particular feature.

      I have never had compatibility issues with this camera but I use a PC - the format of pictures is .JPG and I think the video is .AVI.
      A year of so ago I bought a mac and it wouldn't recognise my camera, camcorder, phone or any pictures or videos - as I wanted it for editing videos I took it back and bought a PC. The shop said that you can get a program called 'Parallel' which makes the mac more adaptable to different formats but I didn't investigate that any further.

      That wouldn't be sensible. rechargeable cells only provide 1.2v compared to 1.5v from primary cells. 1.2x4 is only 4.8v and the circuits inside need 5v minimum. You could use an external rechargeable battery pack. Just make sure it delivers 5v.

      It could be it is too close to the ground if it is misting up but I'm sure there will be something to coat the lens with to prevent misting. I use a small amount of soap on our mirror in the bathroom then clean it off well with a soft cloth and that works on goggles / snorkel visor too.

      The footage of the bat was a bit spooky. I think the camera was triggered by the mouse in the bottom left of the screen just before a large bat flew past.

    Richard,why does it say to not use rechargeable batteries?

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru  6 лет назад

      It may have something to do with the voltage. Non-rechargeable batteries are 1.5v but rechargeable can be 1.2v or 1.3v?

    • @sierraridgereaper
      @sierraridgereaper 5 лет назад

      Most all of these cams run at 6v (1.5v x 4=6v). Four alkaline AA's gives the correct voltage. Most all Circuits have a dropout or minimum operating voltage which is around 4.8v. Four rechargeable AA's are at the minimum dropout voltage at full charge (1.2v x 4=4.8v) so they won't have enough juice to run the circuit. 8 AA's, 4 run the cam circuit and the other 4 run the led array.
