These podcasts are canon to the Grateful Dead history. Thank you so much for these generous gifts.

Not only are these episodes so entertaining, interesting and well done, they have blown my mind. With this inside look at the making of these historical pieces of art, you can listen to the songs armed with the knowledge of their creation of permanent pillars of all the music going forward. These foundations paved the way for the rest of the incredibly well written songs...thank you!

Let's face it we've all heard a lot of the music a lot of times but to hear the down and dirty about how when and where just opens up all these songs as to how why what and where I mean it really is about what you were doing and where you were doing it but especially why were you doing it

What I don't get: is there is no mention of Pigpen's FANTASTIC Harmonica playing on this song (as well as, many many other songs)?

I just decided to close my business for the day just to enjoy the weather and just life in general. And it wouldn’t be a grate day off without the boys playing along side me all day long! Hope you have the best day possible Kris! Thank you! 😀

To hear that Pigpen left so much behind that he was in the midst of working on and that his family cared, preserved, and made notes about this material, is quite astonishing to hear 47 years after he breathed his last. What hope is there now for some sort of Woody Guthrie type tribute album,? The sort where Pigpen's lyrics get treated like Guthrie's lyrics were, where the lyrics that were never set to tunes at the time were adapted by the best musicians of the day, the day now being 2020/2021?

Speaking of speakers from the Europe of 72 I had a tie-dye speaker cover that was thrown out during a concert in Baltimore in 73 after the show I was getting ready to hitchhike up north and here I see this beautiful speaker cover all tie-dyed beautifully so what was I to do let this thing get thrown out no I rip that cover off and rip that cover off you might say I ripped off that cover only to have the freaking thing ripped off by my friend John hotchko I'm coming for that John don't be surprised if it gets ripped back off

Jerry's guitar part sounds a little like the Lovin' Spoonful, like something Zal Yanovsky would have added to a John Sebastian in the mid-60s. I guess similar jug band / blues references and a similar oddball outlook would do that.

If I was a movie Maker I would for sure have a scene in a movie in pigpen's room with Jerry Garcia going through some chord changes while sipping a bottle of ripple and probably writing a song about it

I have enjoyed all of these dead casts and learned so much about this band to which I’ve only opened my ear and heart too about 3 months ago.
I used to be a shredder and had no interest in bands like TGD, Santana etc.....but I grew up as a child in that time. I feel that I absorbed the music from the 70’s but only loved Kiss and Led Zeppelin. I love the Grateful Dead now.... unfortunately, after Jerry died...I was at a concert to see Joe Satriani at the Oakland Colosseum on a day on the green....The Grateful Dead headlined that aids show and I walked out after Joe.
    I’m an idiot.

The only thing that would improve these podcasts would be some visuals some ancient photographs but I'm sure these people were more into living it than showing it

I was always confused about the name wall of sound because originally I heard that the music producer what's his name Phil Spector also had a wall of sound which really was a horn section but I wonder who was the first one to have dibs on the name

My favorite song on this album is Attics in my life!....I love sugar magnolia etc....:
But this one reminds me of Crosby, Stills and Nash.....but it has a touch of the dead!
    It is the dead!

That song hit home with me too only because being an antique collector most my life attics inevitably become one of the best hunting grounds for treasures I can't tell you how many things that I have found in addicts that either belong in museums antique shops or even my house
