I also have Milo, Ironite, and a 30-0-4 Lawn Fertilizer plus 2% Iron. I think you'd really like Milo if you gave it a shot. I've used it for over 5 years with great results. I really wanted to do a methodical experiment to show the green-up process as a resource for people considering it. Seeing the changes over the course of 16 days is better than a simple "before and after"

      Ron Henry I just put down a 24-0-11 about 3 weeks ago so I think I have to wait until July or August before I can put anything else down. I have started to green up though. I’m thinking about ordering some Arden 15 to thicken things up a bit. Especially in my backyard.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  4 года назад +2

      Why do you ave to wait until July or August to apply anything else. A lot of the micronutrient fertilizers have very low nitrogen while still providing a lot of the micronutrients that will really make your lawn pop. I'm releasing a video on liquid fertilizer / micronutrient application this week. Stay tuned! :-)

    Hey Ron, I really enjoy your videos and your lawn looks great. However I do have a question. My name is Dan I live in upstate New York and I have how long that’s 50% Kentucky blue grass and 50% perennial ryegrass. So where you have Bermuda grass this is much different up here. So I’ve been using Lebanon Mesa fertilizer along with The Miramichi pro G soil amendment and have had good results. My question to you is do you like The morganite fertilizer better than the Lebanon Mesa fertilizer?

    • @RonHenry

      Hi Dan. My preference is towards the Lebanon Mesa fertilizer over Milorganite. You get more coverage, has more ingredients and is better value for money in my opinion. Milo is a great fertilizer. It's just gotten a bit expensive. Appreciate you watching the content. Thanks for the support.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  4 года назад +1

      Very nice Connor X. I really like liquid fertilizer because of how quickly it works. I tend to stick to the micronutrient type because it's a great way to quickly get a jolt of iron into the lawn. I'll have to check out GreenCounty's products. I've been using Brandt Supreme green but definitely up for trying something new. Is there a particular one from GreeneCountry that you like?

    • @lxiong1077
      @lxiong1077 4 года назад +1

      Ron Henry for fertilization I really like the 7-0-0 Greeneffect + 0-0-2 Microgreene combo. Those two combo gives you a great amount of iron burst and it’s dark green. Their soil conditioners are really good too, the humic, RGS, Air8 products from the soil activator package.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  4 года назад +1

      So you put them both down at the same time with a backpack sprayer? I’m going to have to give both of those a try. Thanks for the recommendation. 😎

    • @lxiong1077

      Ron Henry yes you can mix them in a back sprayer together and spray or on a hose end sprayer and spray separately. Since you have a pretty large open front and back yard it’s up to you how you want to apply.

    Great outcome. How much did you say $$ per bag? You mentioned this would be done monthly? I have the weed issue so you mentioned to start the Milorginite first then the Spectricide in the morning with dew on grass. (Preferably on a day when it’s not going to rain???). Can be done now in the summer. Just wanted to summarize. Is that correct?Thanks for sharing.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  4 года назад +1

      HI RB. Around here Milo is right at $16 per bag. I wouldn't apply at full rate monthly. Can apply at half or really even use a liquid fertilizer like Brandt Supreme Green instead. Your summary is correct JB. Apply Spectracide in the morning when there's dew on the lawn with no rain in the forecast. That will allow it to stick to and dry on the leaves which will produce the best result. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

    I just put down 4 bags of Milorganite on 18-May across roughly 8k sq ft. My grass is Latitude 36 and is right at 1 year old. I’ve also been dealing with slow greening due to below average temps in southeastern NC. Do you think I’ll get similar results on such a new lawn?

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  4 года назад +2

      Hi Johnathan. You should get pretty good results now that temperatures are starting to rise. 4 bags over 8k sq ft is good application so you're good there. Now that the Milo is down, how green the lawn gets will come down to other factors like overall health of the soil and how frequently you're mowing. The general rule is the more frequently you mow, the better your lawn will look because it stimulates the grass to grow.
      In other words, if you're currently mowing once per week, your lawn will look even better if you mow twice per week and better still if you mow 3 times per week. Now that we're getting heat, your mowing frequency will likely increase to keep the lawn green after you mow. How high are you cutting it?

    Trying to stay away from milorganite was trying to use only the AndersonsPGF complete , but your results are making it difficult

      It’s pretty amazing stuff. What kind of results you are getting out of the AndersonsPGF product?

    Enjoying the videos Ron! I noticed that perfect edging on your favorite "vanity strip." What do you use for edging? Great results for so little heat. I'm in Oklahoma and it's only reached 80 a couple times.

      Thanks Zman! I use a Stihl edge trimmer. I’ve tried the string trimmer in the past, but you can get those super tight lines with it. At least I haven’t. You can see my setup here: ruclips.net/video/7GAG2Rdt7Wg/видео.html 😎
