What a brilliant way to explain a tricky procedure so well. Thanks
Came for the tutorial, stayed for the music.
Music is everything!
I'm not able to play DCS yet, but when i am, I'm definitely coming back here.
Thank you for the kind words 🙏
That was awesome. Beautifully executed, well presented and easy to understand. Thx heaps
Great video, had the Harrier for a couple of years and now starting to use it. This will come in very handy.
perfect. well executed. thanks for the tutorial. i've had this airframe a while now, and only recently learning it properly. this was a big help
Glad it helped!
Nice Tutorial! I'm learning the Harrier today and everything regarding this plane is a few years old and don't properly reflect it's status today after all the updates. Thanks for this simple yet informative video!
Glad it helped! Enjoy the Harrier, it's a great plane to learn. :)
@@CommanderSteinsch im a recent subscriber and have a question related to the control indicator thats red in the bottom left corner of the screen thats brought up with right control and enter could u tell me what all the lines and everything represent or direct me to where i can find that info ive looked around but couldnt find anything
@@lucaswoods1155 the main cross represents your pitch and roll axis. The horizontal line at the bottom is your rudder axis, and the vertical line at the left is your throttle axis.
Jacobruxo thanks man was struggling to find this info
Beautiful! You make it look so easy!
Excellent tutorial ! Very well explained, thank you very much! 👍
Masterful, thank you for the video, the music is cool too
Brilliant video. I've had mixed success with landing the Harrier, this tutorial makes it look easy.
It's easy when you know the checkpoints and practice a few hours to get the hang of it. Don't give up! :)
Thank You, clear, concise and informative, made my day. Capt Porco.
Thanks! Now have fun landing the whale 😄
Great tutorial, as always! Nice park job!
Thanks Admiral! Who knew DCS was actually a driving school?
Fantastic video... I'm in awe!
Thanx for the video. Really nice and to the point !
Awesome tutorial! Been struggling to land the harrier. You made it looked too easy!
Haha, thanks! Can't say it's easy, but with practice it has become more manageable. It's a perishable skill though. 😄
Superb tutorial. Thx.
This bird exudes chad energy😎
great video, thank you
Excellent! I'm a new subscriber now, great content!
Awesome, thank you!
damn! that is very nice hovering and landing :)
Love the music!
Thanks for this very good video.
Perfect info. You good pilot.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent !
Thanks a lot.
You are welcome!
Top landing
Thanks for the info, very beneficial.
My pleasure!
what an epic tutorial, i learned many things from you Commander Steinsch, like and subscripe !
Wow
Brilliant landing well done
Thank you!
I came here to learn how to land a harrier in war thunder and I’ve never played dcs but this video was cool as hell lol
Thanks! Hopefully you'll join the dark side and play DCS!
@@CommanderSteinsch I’m hoping to buy a pc next year and when u do I knew I was going to download it first because I’ve been watching a lot of videos on it
Excellent ! Learning DCS is such a rewarding experience. I'm sure you'll like it.
@@CommanderSteinsch thanks, I’ve heard it takes weeks but it really is a great payoff, can’t wait
Big whale big fun :D useful funny and informative
You are the king
Big thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Not always easy to make a tutorial entertaining! ;)
Thanks.
Great video. I never had trouble landing but i think I'll land much better putting the nozzles down early and using pitch to maintain forward flight with that more traditional style flare at the end rather than maintaining level flight and adjusting nozzles constantly.
I can't imagine myself maintaining level flight by managing nozzles constantly, that requires skills. Well done! ;) However, the manual instructs to set the nozzles to hover stop position out of the groove. That's one less thing you need to worry about while approaching the boat.
This is the most jolly chill tutorial on how to land the AV8b i have ever seen :)) Whats the Tune please ?
Amazing landing! I have to learn how to go easy and slow.
You can do it! :)
@@CommanderSteinsch Thanks man!
merci
Great video i think i need lots more practice it keeping a stable hover lol. So after trimming 12 degree AOA on downwind, you dont do any further trimming beyond this? just all stick input? Cheers.
Thanks 👍
I I usually don't, but I may trim click once or twice if I feel it's necessary.
Brilliant tutorial! I'm gonna be using more of your tutorials, just enough info without overdoing it with super clear instructions and tips. Also that was some super skilled flying on the landing
Edit: out of curiosity, what weather settings did you use for your landing? looks super nice with the water
Thanks! But sorry, i don't remember the weather settings. That was pre 2.7 😄
Thanks! But sorry, i don't remember the weather settings. That was pre 2.7 😄
Thanks! But sorry, i don't remember the weather settings. That was pre 2.7 😄
Can you please help? I have been following all the stuff you said to do, and instead of my plane going into VTOL mode, it just stalls at 100 knots and then falls, please help.
Razbam adjusted the flight model some time ago, so if you're coming too heavy, you're gonna run into big problems. Make sure your landing weight is well within parameters and don't forget to activate the h2o.
Awww i crashed while trying Vertical Landings a lot yesterday with the Harrier on AO, did you make this video for me? Please tell me you made this video for me, you made this video for me, i am grateful that you made this video for me.
This video was of course made especially for you!🤣
What graphics and perhaps visual mods do you use?
No visual mods, but some post light production effects.
Nice video, that v/stol procedure is in the av8b natops or is a separate book? Can you send me the complete name of the file?
Yes, it was mostly the NATOPS.
I can't believe there is the only civilian owned one for sale right now for the price of a house in California
It looks so easy but is brutally hard.
Keep at it! You'll get there eventually!
You land that thing like it's on rails. I just started practicing and she bounces all over the place, ending up in some hectical joystick movement mania...Now I got some values for the approach, it should get better soon...I hope!!
Thanks for the input!!
Practice makes perfect!
I'm just flying the flight manual numbers. Thousands of test flying hours resulted in these manuals, and DCS is rather high fidelity, so this works pretty well ;)
How can you go reverse on the deck of the ship?
Nozzles to max angle
@@CommanderSteinsch thanks
Very good tutorial!!! Now one question: how do you "reverse" into the parking spot??? lol Keep up the good work! :)
I would guess that you'd adjust nozzle angle to point slightly forward?
Set the nozzles to 90 degrees and apply power without water
Yes, I needed to reverse while manoeuvring on the Tarawa yesterday and remembered your comment! Nozzles fully extended at 98 degrees will push a heavy Harrier backwards! Thank you for all the tips, been practicing my landings using your video and getting better every time! Now I crash on the deck instead of the water!!! :D
@@alecisla Alright, so it's an old message, but I'll still leave this here in case someone inexperienced comes and takes that advice : If you reverse, do NOT try to use your brakes (same thing with the viggen actually) put your nozzles back and gently add power to stop your momentum, otherwise you'll just slam your tail on to the runway
Good tip!
I can do a rear approach landing on the Tarawa but that side slip thing is still alien to me. Any tips on making it easier
What goes wrong when you get to the crossing stage?
@@CommanderSteinsch the aircraft does not want to move... If I roll to far it will want to yaw. And when I counter with rudder, once I release the rudder it wants to yaw back the other direction. It is a handful. I can land pretty reliably with a rear approach. But it that side slip that is hard for me.
When you start crossing, don't roll too much. Keep counteracting with tiny but steady rudder then decrease pressure on them smoothly.
Also, as you roll, you're losing a bit of lift, so increase power accordingly
@@CommanderSteinsch it doesn't help that sometimes on the server I play most of the time the deck has a 6-10kts cross wind.. which is a load of fun.
Fucking hated this song at first, but after a minute, I was slowly head bopping too it. I need help
Exactly how I felt when I first heard it. Pushed myself out of the comfort zone and voilà!
Cool video, but thank f**k for the mute button! ;P
Haha! Yes indeed, I was counting on it.
that is so hard to do.....takes a lot of practice...
Great channel! Everything is simple, even to the Russian it is clear.)Teach us how to fly and we will take over all of your America!))) Joke.)
Pity about the banging of the drums . I had to turn the sound off , they are so irritating and so childish !
No voice = dislike and move on.
