Really wished when you said you sank the Enterprise, you said you avenged the defeat of Midway as Enterprise was the carrier that sank 3 Japanese Carriers.
Okay, Kaga and Akagi were claimed by Enterprise, Soryu was claimed by Yorktown, and Hiryu was a team effort. Hornet really didn't accomplish much on the 4th did she, well, she contributed in stalling the Japanese counter-attack, which by all means was very important.
I want to fly Bettys out of Guadalcanal BUT: 1) The entire Allied navy will have to be sunk first AND 2) The day Guadalcanal upgrades to level 5, the game ends. There needs to be changes to the game. We should be able to upgrade faster and the game should end on points or a date, not the achievement of establishing a level 5 AF at Guadalcanal. Plus add USAAF and IJAAF aircraft and the ability for aircraft to attack land bases.
Wait... you cant bomb land bases with carriers?... well that just invalidated a plan I set into motion. I just got the shokaku and was going to cut planes across from north to south over the islands of new guinea to attack morby from relative safety.
@@hatman4818 I wish aircraft can separately target troops to help turn the tide at a ground battles and location facilities to neutralize enemy airfield and facilities. I wish those were modelled, too.

Man imagine if Enterprise went down in the war. If I'm correct she took part of every major campaign in the pacific. She only left after being hit by a kamikaze attack during or right before Okinawa. Cant remember which.
She wasn’t at Coral Sea as she was busy escorting hornet during the dolittle raid. She also wasn’t at the battle of Samar, as there weren’t fleet carriers present thanks to a certain admiral. But yeah, she was at the vast majority of the major battles of the war in the pacific and certainly reduced the time it took to beat the Japanese.

@@Spitfire_1940 historically hornet was sunk during the Guadalcanal campaign so in this alternate universe instead of enterprise vs Japan it would probably be “hornet vs Japan” and we would probably think of hornet as we now do enterprise. The bigger impact if this is how things went down would be that people would see a modern fleet carrier killed in the day action by a battleship and get the impression that naval AirPower is still not as useful as big guns and armor even in ideal flying conditions.
@@GoSlash27 Surface radar helps with solution, but I heard that US naval forces can detect radar emissions. I also found out that the Type 1 & 2 B don't have air radars.
He was quite close to the convoy too, which will probably have made the periscope quite easily visible. At sea state 5 it would need to be up quite a bit and if it is in a "wave trough" it should be easy to spot. Since it was submerged it would be running on electric propulsion, which would not make that much noise and the sea state would hide the noise of the screws.
Seeing that convoy heading West, I believe they're reinforcing New Guinea. Also, the AI seems to only have DD escorts protecting Merchants heading to New Guinea.
@@Wolfpack345 I wonder if capturing developed airfields and naval bases will change the rate at which you generate supplies/fuel needed to build more such places. Since they seem to have meddled with these costs it would be quite nice to be able to offset the lowered japanese points generation.

Slightly disappointed to realise I have now caught up and I'll have to be patient and wait for the episodes like everyone else! Certainly earned a new subscriber though, I really enjoy your editing style and your explanations throughout.
8:00 Starting battles with friendly aircraft overhead will put your submarine a much longer distance away than if you entered without, simply because your aircraft detects the enemy from a longer range. Sometimes you will spawn so far away that you miss the enemy entirely which I think is one of the serious issues in the game that KF will have to fix- until then I've resigned myself to flying my scout planes far far away once my submarine gets close on the world map.
A "CV vs CV" fight? This could definitively be worth the price of admission here. Lately, with all of the A.I. moves, I've had to wonder if you'd chose an easier difficulty by mistake ... Best of luck, Wolfpack! Cheers!
Everyone always complain on both sides about asw detection being so good. But look at it from a surface point of view. It is always easy to find a sub after torpedoes have been fired using overhead view (which people do not have as humans), but also as an attacker, you always find subs. It is reciprocal. AI is doing the same as a player can do.
Just thought I'd give a quick course in pronouncing the towns and cities in Papua New Guinea. Milne Bay is pronounced like the pottery oven "Kiln" - except with a M. Lae is just like "Lay". If you wanna go extreme it's like "Lahey" but really really subtle on the H. Your Port Moresby is perfect. Think Port S'mores-bee. I think what happens is that people see the extra E's in these names and think it's more complicated than it is.
Damn the US risks of losing the two remaining Yorktown-class one after the other. I guess it would be a revenge after Midway (which makes me wonder how scarier would have been if the Japanese went for Midway full force, bringing Shokaku and Zuikaku along as well)
OR... assuming that Shoukaku wouldn't become damaged during Coral Sea battle and Zuikaku hasn't lost large chunk of her airwing IJN could form second Carrier Force with two fleet carriers which were deployed for the Aleutian operation (they could be easy replaced by the light carriers for that particular action)... which would elevated IJN's carriers near Midway to 8... and definitively change the overall outcome of that fatal battle...

If you engage in a carrier duel as the Japanese you have to expect attrition in your highly trained aircrews. This was shown time and again during coral sea, midway, and the Guadalcanal campaign. In that case however Yorktown would have been in better shape at Midway and Lexington would have been along as she would still be afloat. The hull numbers would go from 3 vs 4 in favor of the Japanese to 4 vs 6, which is better, but there’s no guarantee that it would have been decisive in favor of the Japanese, especially if we consider the element of surprise and midway base all of which contributed massively to the battle in the historical timeline.

At a point in the war the American develop the Advanced sonar for sub detecting and developed proximity fuses for AAA. If that's taken into account in the game. You'll lose more aircraft to AA fire and more subs to Destroyers. Plan for that!
Maybe you should have your subs operate in pairs? That gives you one to fire from further away OR the - usually - two destroyers split up giving each sub a greater chance to find an escape route. If you manage to strike undetected you will have two firing solutions for ships and just fire at one ship per sub ... and then get out before the torps even hit and the enemy notices you. At this point I would say "more subs" is more important than another carrier, because "building up Guadalcanal" is still top priority and one carrier should be enough to do just that while INTELLIGENCE about incoming convoys is the real danger ... and submarines can instantly sink "a ship" every time they spot a bunch of ships.
Chikuma really should have been able to defend herself against that sub. Her Zuiun's (Jakes) were able to carry both 250kg bombs and depth charges as one of their main duties besides scouting was to provide an ASW patrol for the unit she was attached to. Hopefully they'll add the ability for floatplanes and flying boats to do more than fly in circles in a later update/dlc/expansion because at the moment it feels like their potential is wasted.
At 23:12 they detected you because you were using radar. Investigating the game's manual taught me that if using radar, enemy units have a greater chance of detecting you.

Until the up the AI in the game, I'm going to hold off, if the American's had 2 carrier groups in the area, they should of been much more a problem to deal with let alone catch. They should of been hunting your ships ect.
Yeah ... it looks a bit annoying to control atm ... everything is mostly mouse-click. I really hope they introduce "automated daily patrol routes" for scout planes for example, so you can at least have some of the menial tasks off your brain and focus on the important bits.
Hell yeah! A second battle of the coral sea! If you can, and I know the game is micro heavy, could we spend a bit less time in the map and order screen and look more at the main battleshipst of the enemy being hit? For cinematics sake. :) I wanna see up close that carrier taking hits!

If IJN had actually used its subs half as good as you do here, entire course of the Pacific War could change :) your and Tortuga's war at sea series are my greatest stress reliefs btw. Waiting for some more patches and I'll buy the game
Thanks for the video !! Seeing the map have many land bases location not taken up, Is there any reason (or just the limitation of supplies / troop ?) not setting up another base closer to Guadalcanal ?? Maybe setup a base at Rennell Island will provide better range and air cover for your fleet?

Also, the Betties should be able to reach Guadalcanal, although it was at the limit of their range.

Hell yeah! A second battle of the coral sea! If you can, and I know the game is micro heavy, could we spend a bit less time in the map and order screen and look more at the main battleshipst of the enemy being hit? For cinematics sake. :) I wanna see up close that carrier taking hits!

Just so you know after you merged the cruiser with the carrier it reset your formation to line ahead instead of circle

If IJN had actually used its subs half as good as you do here, entire course of the Pacific War could change :) your and Tortuga's war at sea series are my greatest stress reliefs btw. Waiting for some more patches and I'll buy the game
I wouldn't say the Pacific War would've entirely changed, the germans weren't even close to beating the Allies in that respect.

Seeing the map have many land bases location not taken up, Is there any reason (or just the limitation of supplies / troop ?) not setting up another base closer to Guadalcanal ??
Maybe setup a base at Rennell Island will provide better range and air cover for your fleet?
