Hello, everyone!
Today in this video, I’m joined by my mate Australian Walter,
And we’re going to be watching videos where Jennie and Rose from BLACKPINK speak in English,
And we’re going to be reacting to Jennie’s American and New Zealand(Kiwi) accent, and to Rose’s Australian English accent!
This video is not to criticise their English or their speaking, but just to give viewers some idea of learning English and give motivation!
Hope you enjoy the video! :)
*Special thanks to Walter!

Rosé’s australian accent is really elegant and smooth which makes it interesting cause when she speaks korean, she sounds very cute and lovable but it changes 180 degrees when she speaks english.
No hate but... do you mean 180 degrees?
BlackGrapes shit yeah HAHAHAHA
yesss
It's normal. People tend to change their personality due to having a different communication with different people.
hey are you a fairy? Yeah i know thats why she has an australian accent, cause she grew up in Melbourne. She even said it herself that melbourne is her hometown cause she spend most of her life there but her nationality is new zealand
Rosie aussie accent is my thing
The only aussie accent i love. No wonder Lisa wants to have her accent 😍🌼
Ikr
Rosie spiking well
It’s absolutely my favourite accent. Rosè already had me when she spoke English in that Aussie accent. I’m whipped for Rosè’s voice
Everytime she used her aussie accent, it sounds VERY SEXY too. I love that
Rosé's accent is so addictive
@@pepsicola7204 it's rosé not rosè btw and sorry but I didn't say it's sydney accent or no , i just talked about how beautiful her account is :)
Mee too
@@pepsicola7204 Sydney and Melbourne urban accents are basically the same.
In fact, I prefer Rosie. Her voice when she speaks English is very sexy. She is in favor of Rosie the Queen
same, but for me her accent is kind of calming...because of her i ended up learning it.
Yes! I agree a lot, also it’s Rosé just correcting you!😅
Gucci Tae Tae
Actually, Rosie is Rosé’s nickname. A lot of people don’t have the “é” on their keyboard, so we call her “Rosie” instead of just “Rose.” Rose isn’t her nickname, so we don’t call her that.
@@user-eb2zu8lk9r saddly that many of her fans don't know that so they still call her "rose"
Doha Zyadi
It lowkey bothers me. Just call her Rosie instead of Rose. If Rose was Rosé’s nickname, I’d have no problem with it. But it’s not. So please call her; Rosé, Rosie, Roseanne, Chaeyoung, Chaeyoungie, Chaeng, Chae,Chaemunk, Chipmunk, Pasta, etc, lol. Just call her one of her nicknames, or her korean name.
I fell in love with the Australian accent because of Rosé so now I speak Australian accent without realizing lol
주노Juno omg same lol
ohh cool! we should speak with each other using aussie accent then
@@babyosa5629 lol
I suspect you 'think' you are speaking with an Aussie accent, not actually doing so! Very very few people can pull off our accent.
@@triarb5790 girl, I'm known for nailing accents why u making it sound like it's impossible to do? it's so easy at least for me
On their latest single "How You Like That", the way Rosé sang 'Look up in the sky. It's a bird, It's a plane.' You really can't help but notice her accent haha I love it. I also love how Jennie has different accents on different words.
they all sang those lines. Not only Rosé
@@robieflores9265 but her voice was dominant as well as her accent
@@robieflores9265 just like in kill this love last verse where everyone sang we must kill this love... But jennies voice was the most dominant there so everyone though only she sang it. But no they all did and the same happened here
Agreed
It's a buuuhhhd it's a Ploinnn 😂
Rosé's accent is just so satisfying to hear and that's why I really love it.
Same here
I love Jennie’s speaking voice. Very different from her singing voice which is really good! 💕
Yeah
Same

Jennie imo can speak in both New Zealand and American accents, it depends on the person she's speaking with. I noticed when she was interviewed by Billboard/Zach Sang, she speaks more with American accent but when she speaks with Rosé, her New Zealand/British accent can be heard more ^^
Lol I’ve noticed that too I feel some of rosé accent is rubbing off on her
British?
I like the way Rosie speaks it's so cute and makes her sound really friendly and down to earth
Jennie stayed in New Zealand for five years and has more of New Zealand touch in her accent but there's a bit of American as well because she covered a lot of English songs during her trainee period and most were had American English and as she's a Korean, she at first started learning American-English..how do I say it..it's a lot like my case..I stayed in England for 3 years when I was little but my accent is more like American cuz I grew up watching things (youtube videos, shows and stuff) in American English and but we learn both kinds at our school (yes I'm not a native English speaker) so it's mainly a mixture. Jennie's case is kinda similar to mine.
Koreans in general tend to have an american accent, much like the Phillipines. In fact after watching a lot of kdramas it appears korea has so much of an American influence they might as well be an ex-colony of the USA.
Maybe jennie got her a bit American accent because she always watch netfix. The Netfix queen 🤣
For me, I grew up in so many American states, I don’t really have any particular regional accent. 😆
My dad was born in NYC (Bronx), went to live in the Dominican Republic, forgot a lot of English so he had to re-learn it, came back and he definitely has a New Yorker accent mixed a bit with a Spanish accent.
My mom was born and raised in the DR and learned English from the age of 30. She has amazing English but with a slight Spanish accent. But she’s very good and very easy to understand.
For me, I was born in NYC (the Bronx, in particular), moved to New Jersey (in an area where the stereotypical NJ accent was not really present), moved to Miami for a few years, then to Tampa and now in the Atlanta area. I have what you’d call a “standard American accent”.
Now something I find funny is my boyfriend was raised in the Atlanta area for the majority of his life. His parents were, too. They have a bit of a southern accent, and so does his brother and sister. My boyfriend really did NOT want to have a southern accent at all, so he worked hard to NOT learn to speak that way. So he sounds like a “standard American” accent.
Sometimes she sounds British
Tom Foster your wrong I go to school in Australia and I’m born here no one sounds British to Australians and people in New Zealand def don’t have a British accent or anything close to it they’ve got a completely different accent to us aussies. We don’t push for British accents in our exclusive school since I’ve got many friends who go to top tier private schools and they sound as Australian as they ever could our schools here are chill even if their private.
Jennie's accent is so pleasing to hear, its so sophisticated and fancy but charming and cute. Its like a lullaby to my ears and when she speaks in her voice. I could hear jennie speak all day
I understand her words so well!
I get you.
Fact💯
@Jenny Cendol Dawet ?
@Jenny Cendol Dawet what?
Jennie is a smart speaker for English being her second language. She transcends to any accent with the people she speaks to.
I have a thing for me that when i am talking to a person or audience where my relation is formal, or if i dont dont know that person, or when i am giving a speech, my accent changes. Idk what accent it is, since i live in uae and study at an indian school. My sister thinks i am doing it to be like "my english has a fancy accent." My english doesnt have those thick indian accents. I dont do it on purpose but everyone thinks I am.
interesting how you think that's smart, personally I look at that as easily influenced, not saying it's a bad thing. I only speak my own accent, I have a friend who's accent would change depending on who she has been hanging out with and she can't just flip a switch and go back to her "normal". I like to project my own personality so I've never been swayed by anyone's accent or choice of words. Also, personally I think it's rude to "imitate", or transcend, with other's accent, it's as if I'm mocking their accent.
DAndy that’s your personal opinion and simply implying your personal experience on her whilst gassing yourself up . She adapts to her surrounding well, she changes her tones and how she pronounce her words for the conversation to be better understood by the listener. That’s being called smart. Now you have a good day with your own accent :)
A non-english native and just learners like her is normally using various accent. 😌
Jennie’s accent depends to whom she talk to.
I have the same thing.
this is super common! i live in england, i have a fairly northern accent but i live in the south and i have a really different accent with my close friends and family, compared to how i would at school
@@alexdavis7577 I feel like it's almost "necessary" to change accents in UK to a more "standard" accent and less regional, or else it's hard to understand for someone who's not from there.
DAndy 100%! even just phrases i use all the time at home can get a blank look from friends of mine- ‘do the pots’ instead of ‘washing up’ and the confusion between ‘tea’ and ‘dinner’ are some of the most common ones. i have another northern friend and whenever we get into conversation, no one else can follow along because of how much stronger our accents get
Her ability is so 👍
Rosé “australianess” become really pronounced when she gets really really excited.
*Aussieness
rolls of the tongue easier.
Rosé's aussie accent is my everything
I just love to listen Rosé English.
I can listen to Rosé's Aussie accent the whole day

yes my skz bois 💕 and now we have jake from enhypen too!!!
Is Rose Aussie?
Rosé accent is the best for me 🥰
Obviously her accent is better than Jennie bcz she is a native speaker of English but Jennie is not. So as a non native speaker Jennie is perfect.
Rose is more perfect @@bilkisaktar1611
Jennie's accent is quite unique for me cause she can changed it to american and a little bit kiwi accent so i think she has charisma when she talk or going interview ..it just like i wanna hear her voice and accent everyday so i could learn english very well too
I don't know why you have to change from one accent to another. Maybe because she isn't a native speaker.
I love Jennie's accent the best a combination of kiwi, American and a bit of british
British?
Rose is the best English speaker 💜💜💜💜💜💜

Rosé’s accent has a touch of kiwi accent in it. I grew up in New Zealand before moving to Australia, but everyone thinks I have an American accent🤔🤦🏽♂️. Jennie has a New Zealand accent, and though Rosé has a stronger australian accent u can also hear a pinch of kiwi accent mixed in there. My cousin has the same accent, aussie accent mixed with a touch of kiwi accent from growing up in nz then moving to Australia.
she was born in NZ, but she grew up in Australia, so she really has strong aussie accent
@@JessKM agree
As i kiwi, Jennie doesn't have a full kiwi accent, like you can tell she lived there, because sometimes u can hear a bit of her accent, I don't know why people say she has a full accent
Shugyla Iranbek She grew up in NZ and OZ for the same amount of years so would say she grew up in both countries
Look i think she has a wee bit of a mix, she has a real strong aussie accent but with something else. I work with alot of aussies and go over to Australia for meeting. Rose has a different flavor, very elegant. I believe she still has a bit of kiwi accent in her, reasons why she sounds a little different.
She spent 7 to 8 years in NZ and around the same in OZ before leaving to go to Korea.
Rosé is from Box Hill, Victoria. She's definitely the rich Melbourne Girl! 😂
I reckon she is probably from Camberwell since the high school she was in is literally too far away from Box Hill.

Rosé’s accent is really interesting especially in Blackpink Diaries when they toured in Melbourne and Sydney she flew over first and showed us Degrave Street. I can kind of hear a hint of her Australian accent in her Korean there and some of the songs.

I'm living for Jennie's accent like really haha
Theres really something about Jennie speaking English that just gets to me, especially when she has that little accent when speaking. She sounds very elegant and refined when she talks in english, but sounds fierce when she sings/raps in english.
I can listen to jennie's voice all day
JENNIE’s Accent is attractive🤍
Actually i love jennie accent... Her accent is different than other
Rose has much better diction and structuring of sentences than Jennie despite both being fluent in English but thats basically a result of English being a first language for Rose since she lived in English speaking countries for the majority of her life before moving to Korea
Brody Skipper actually I’m pretty sure Korean is Rosies first language but she spoke English more frequently growing up
@@cordeliamunnoch5099 dude she born in nz and lived in aussie
Putri S yes, but she said she learnt English by picking it up from others, not her parents, meaning she probably spoke Korean the early years of her life, making it her first language ( I’m sorry if I’m annoying I just like things placed right)
@@cordeliamunnoch5099 no, english is her first language. Because her korean isn't that good. You can search it if u don't believe it. Rosé isn't that confident in her korean 🤷♀️
(Sorry for my bad english, but I just want to stating a fact)
mas nasah oh I just saw it from her live, she couldn’t speak English when she was a baby, because her parents are Korean, then she went to preschool and picked it up, and she spoke English more since then and only knew very basic Korean. When she was
I think seven, she asked her parents to teach her more Korean, and she started speaking more Korean at home, but of course, she spoke English most of the time, so she wasn’t very good. But what you said is true, she isn’t that confident in Korean. And your English is really good don’t worry about it
I love jennie but I like Rose' accent.
Jennie has got that American Accent too.
I noticed it when she spoke English.
She have got a mixture of New Zealand and American English accent. Whist Rose has Australian Accent.
I like jennie's accent.😍
As a New Zealander, we don't really pronounce "fish and chips" like "fush and chups". It's really hard to explain without using phonetics but it sounds like somewhere in between fesh~fush and cheps~chups.
EXACTLY ! We don't say fush and chups lmao, but idk how to explain the sound, but as u said it's between fesh-fush
Jennie's accent has mixed of kiwi & american accent..
Well my bias jennie and biaswrecher I really love this kind of video chaennie thing
Jennie english is Amazing :) 제니제니제니제니제니제니제니제니
If you listen to Lisa speak english there are a lot of times that you can hear the influence that Jennie and Rosé have on her accent as well.
Jennie: Water
Rosé: Watahh
Remember Australian Speaking English can be broken down as Broad, General and Cultivated.
*Broad* is like Steve Irwin, country folk.
*General* is the generic sounding English that most Australians in cities sound like.
*Cultivated* is more proper English sounding where Water is pronounced with the T sound.
Then there are slight noticeable twang's between states and the major cities as well
What would rose be considered as?
@@squishy_moo General. An example for Cultivated would be Cate Blanchett a more posh sounding accent one with a British influence. Rosé has no British influence to her accent, therefore, ruling out cultivated and she obviously doesn't sound bogan so broad is also ruled out. Overall as an Aussie myself it is safe to say her accent is very generic here.
Chloè do Aussies swear a lot?
@@squishy_moo Bloody oath.
I want Jennie...and her accent ❤
jennie voice and accent, got me
#ROSÉ #로제 her accent is literally everything 🔥🔥😍😍
You should react to one video of jennie speaking english that sounds like british tho its a video of her promoting SOLO 😂 i think its cool that she could change her accent whenever she feels like it.
Sorry but i watched it and it wasn't british at all my half family is British as im mix and also two of my aunts are American and Honestly Jennie sounded more of American clearly New yorker mix with Kiwi and you should have noticed she got a bit of Aussie accent as well as Rosè got the accent and when we Communicate more with the accent we kinda adapt eachother accents so thats the case with jennie_

We need to normalize mixed accents. I don't get why some ppl get offended when they hear English that doesn't have a consistent accent. Not everyone grew up in only one area.
oh, is that a thing?
I learnt english at school, watching movies and listening to songs. People sometimes fix my pronounciation but then I listen/watch something in which they pronounce it that way. Tbh, as I learnt from multiple sources, I probably have a mix of accents and I'm not aware of that cause I can't tell what is an accent in english (I'm starting too now, but for a long time I couldn't tell) So that would be really rude from native speakers to judge mixed accents
@@6maria94 The most recent case was when BTS was in London and some ppl were offended by RM's slight British accent. Thanks for pointing out that non-native English speakers adapt accents/pronunciations from different sources too.
