I could be wrong but pretty sure this was green light back in 2018, but dam to make Berserk 2016 look good is a real accomplishment. The difference between what MAPPA did for the original God of High School despite adaptation being questionable the animation was solid, and this should make CR apologize to mangaka.

God of Highschool visually looks pretty good actually, but the problem with that one is they cut out everything that wasn't an action scene, meaning that anybody who hadn't read the manga would have no fucking idea what was happening as it barrelled through what I assume was supposed to be several major arcs in a couple episodes each. Gibiate was... Well, you might not believe me, but the monster CG honestly looks even worse than Ex-Arm. It's also incredibly stupid and boring.

Who else went to the video just to hit the dislike button?
Why would you?!
@@LouisianaBurns Because its bad. That’s why.
@@oriongear2499 I agree all we see is bad news on this channel so I did like it
why waste even 2 mins to do that?
@BlackWorm yea but didn't sony buy crunchyroll?
Ok, when I read the title. I thought it was just gonna be a general backlash due to their scummyness, but figured the anime would actually look ok... Boy was I wrong!
How can that even be called Anime?
F for the animators who worked with what they had and had no control over the project they were working on.
Imagine learning your manga was gonna be animated, and then finding out this is what was done with it. I'd sue for as much as I could.
Kimetsu no yaiba (Demon Slayer) was done by Ufotable, which, unless I'm mistaken, is not a Sony studio. The only claim I can see them having over it is through Aniplex as the western distributor.
Aniplex/Sony has funded to make the anime. They chose Ufotable to make the anime.
It's obvious the money they're making is not going to the anime studios because they're still struggling. This is what Crunchyroll is using that money.
These companies have 2 options.
1 use the money to fund what the viewers want.
2 make rubbish noone wants.
They always choose 2 for some reason.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man!
It's like they say the reaction to high guardian spice and said, this is good. we want more.
So I just want to know, what do you think this shares with HGS and how instead would you suggest Crunchyroll go about creating content?
@@thanatosdriver1938 the problem typically is that peoplea platform that is notoriously buggy and basically derided all around. Instead of fixing it, they instead try to start their own shows.
@Darling Vexa Art As I said, it's not just the show being made. it's that they are clearly sinking a tonne of money into creating new content while people are struggling to get far with even the old content. I haven't heard Crunchyroll announce any fixes for the problems that keep popping up with the platform.
Basically money spent on new content could be spent hiring compentant programmers or developers to fix problems people have complained about for years.
I would love it if microsoft pulled out the checkbook and bought crunchyroll i don't want sony owning the us anime market
I’d definitely agree with that. I’d rather have Microsoft buy them out. Sony will be censor happy when they get their hands on series that go against their moral code of political beliefs.
@@yungsxma5578, Microsoft is no saint, but what would they use Crunchy for? Add a "TV series" bundle for their XBox pass?
More IP for games?
@@andrehashimoto8056 I'd rather have that, then Sony. Who are going to probably steal EA's spot (or possibly share) for Worst Entertainment Company.
@@andrehashimoto8056 oh I know they’re no saint but compared to who cares more about politics and who cares for what the consumers want. I’m a playstation guy but I can’t get behind them censoring anime games and then letting tlou2 put a whole sex scene in their game and they were alright with it.
The animation reminds me of the Spider-Man series that aired on MTV in the early 2000s.
"The off brand rooster teeth, chicken gums" - killed me xd
Crunchyroll: "LISTEN HERE, NIP!!!"
Glad to have helped out.
High Guardian Spice: *[Steven Universe Tumblr Animation]*
EX-ARM: *[RWBY Fan Animation]*
It makes me feel kinda bad for the manga creator. They signed off on letting them use their IP.
@Darling Vexa Art I can only hope this will drive people to purchase the unbastardized version.
@Darling Vexa Art do you really think the money that goes to crunchyroll or all these western streaming services actually ho to the struggling artists lol
I'm a sucker for sci fi and robot girls. If anything, this trash made me aware that this title exists. Praise be!
They saw people talking about how much they liked Land of the Lustrous and Beastars, and said “Yeah, let’s do that! But with MUCH less care and effort to make the 3D animation appealing in any way!”
You gotta admit, as much as CG anime from Japan is getting a lot of flak, at least they generally don't look as cheap as Ex-Arm
I kept thinking do they even know that majority of anime watchers is adult and teenagers? Why do they keep moving anime toward kid, they do not even watch it.
Because like typical out of touch westerners they want to dicate what that audience likes even under the false guise and preaching of supposed tolerance.
I just pirate my anime, I won’t give a cent to these streaming services.
If crunchyroll wants to do a Cgi 3D anime, do us all a massive favour by making it look good. If they want examples, just watch Beastars
Anime: Gives us stuff like "Mob Psycho 100" and season 1 of "One Punch Man", as well as the artful fusion techniques of "Beastars".
American animation gives us... yeah, pick pretty much anything lately.
Anime will soon control the planet. Excellent.
Crunchyroll and Sony: Oh you guys don't like our original anime huh?
Would be a shame if someone where to redub your favorite anime to our agenda huh?
"Huh did sombody call me?" Funimation
Too bad for you piracy is a thing
Hmm weird you say that about CR even though they've never done that lol. You might be confusing them with Funimation, since they're guilty of it.
Imagine this being on your portfolio. I think just the name would drop your application.
If it is on Funimation or Crunchyroll, it is our sole duty to pirate.
We were hoping for High Guardian Spice but instead we got this.
Holy shit, I know you're joking but you have a point because....all this shit is going on and still no one has dropped any words on fucking HGS. Dear GOD what a clusterfuck. XD
I GUARANTEE there is only the pilot episode of HGS
apparently High Guardian Spice looks so much better so this is unironical
I guess this is how they save HGS, by making something so bad HGS coming out is a relief.
@@cesarvertigokikiri8342 High guardian spice irony.
That style reminds me of the Appleseed movie that tried 3D anime back in 2004.
Except that that one had much more detail and much smoother animations.
Looks like something a 12 year old learning 3D animation could produce on the family computer.
Hey. I won't belittle 12 year olds that way. I can't animate, and the people working on this can't either.
I guess that Netflix has the high ground for now in their Anime Originals. Tenkuu Shinpan, Baki son of Ogre and Godzilla Singular Point look well animated and promising.
Me before watching EX-ARM trailer: "Hm, a new anime trailer on Crunchyroll. Let's see what this is about."
Me after watching EX-ARM trailer: "Why are we still here? Just to suffer?"
The CG makes the CG Ninja Turtles pitch reel from 2001/2002 look like a Pixar film.
EX-Arm is actually a good manga that has a lot of GitS themes and imaginary, the CR version is an early 00's college fan film.
Crunchyroll sounds like Mel brooks in Blazing Saddles, "We gotta protect our phony baloney jobs"
Crunchyroll must be stopped.
Funimation too
Crunchy is probably going down the drain
I mean, Netflix is getting a more than decent anime catalog. They are not only bringing classics, but new animes, and in both VO and dubbed. And not just mainstream animes, but also niche stuff, which means that they are taking it more seriously
Sure, Netflix will probably use part of that money to make their shitty shows, but at least I'm not paying for a service that allegedly helps japanese animators, but spends its money on crappy Steven Universe copycats
It's ten years to late. Do I yel 'it's a gundam, err thing' . This sort of anime was best 2000's start 😭😭🤣🤣👍👌👍👌
When will the lesson be learn, when will they learn, how many time do they have to learn that you can never ignore/ dictate the experts capabilities and specialist ability to do their duty as a consequence we get this.
Wow it's almost like you're ignoring Tower of God, God of High School, Noblesse, Tonikawa, In/Spectre, and Gibiate. I haven't seen any of you complain about these being shat on by Crunchyroll, why is that? Just because an anime looks like shit, doesn't mean it's because of western influence lol.
Personal opinion: I actually liked Tower of God so I'm sad we may not get another season because of how terrible all the other Crunchyroll originals are.
They took out all hints of foreshadowing and served every thing on a spoon because studios executives were too afraid that casual can’t handle it.
@@KhanMann66 they did I agree but regardless there were parts I still liked from the anime
It's weird not seeing two banner ads from Google stating that AP has certified a new president, and check Google for news.
This looks like an Ghost In The Shell / ApleeSeed knock-off.
Speaking of, Appleseed XIII looks better than this.
@@SelecaoOfMidas D didn't think it was possible, but they somehow managed to pull of 3d CG anime worse than berserk 2016
Yes, I got AppleSeed vibes from this. It was such a long time since I've watched the CGI movie, but I remember it looking pretty good.
imma be honest its probably the same engine as rwby cause its fairly accessible but the thing about copycats is once you have a gigantic milestone in your franchise many always compare it since rwby is the first western anime to be declared an anime and the first ever to be ported to japan.
Me: *Sees Hero Hei's Projekt Melody video in Clownfish's recommended feed*
Ah. I see you and Mama Geeky are a family of culture as well.
All this low budget garbage animation just shows how little respect the executives have for their audience, imo. "These man-babies will watch any cartoon, we don't need to spend money!" I bet all the executives point of South Park and say "See we don't need good animation to make money!"
Man i must have smoked SOMETHING REAALLLLLLL GOOD if i wanted Ex-arm!
rip ex arm mangaka, brother was ripped off 😔
There is one CG anime that I love, Dorohedoro on netflix
That show made me order Gyoza at a Chinese Restaurant.
It tasted alot like an Eggroll, only in a Dumpling instead of a Crunchy Tortilla thing.
Willing to bet one made from a High Quality place would be bomb as hell though.
Beastars and Land of the Lustrous has the best CGI in the industry I also recommend those.
...yup, after seeing this, i will definitely be looking for alternative avenues to watch the 'I am a Spider, so what?' anime. oh, for an authentic Japanese anime streaming site!
Huh, rather interesting.
It looks like a rwby fan made it with that mikumiku dance program
But It’s not as good when you guys aren’t playing off each other
I think it is pretty obvious at this point that geeky doesn't value this channel nearly as much as neon does.
I haven’t been watching long enough to have an opinion on that
If the show itself were made by amateurs that just made it for fun, I think we would be more forgiving. But it's made by a company that publishes anime, God that's pathetic.
"trying to appeal to international audience".
When you try to please everyone, you please no one.
Ngl, I was legitimately looking forward to this being animated till I saw the trailer.
ReBoot is an iconic Canadian program. Isn't it the first all-computer animation? That along with Beasties/Beast Wars, and Shadow Raiders/War Planets.
I feel like CR went with the cheapest studio they could to save as much money as possible with this one. If the show really was like the promo art, I'd be all over that show. I guess it shows what cutting corners looks like.
Oh GODS! Even the fight sceens look like a grade school slap fight.
Everyone please STOP bullying Crunchy's animators! Animating with stumps for hands is harder than it looks!
Let this be the final nail in the coffin of Crunchyroll.
ANIME WANTED:
Anime producer desperately seeking affordable way to produce anime. Will market and stream your anime to international audiences. Body positive LGBTQ representation preferred, but will take anything CHEAP enough we get a profit showing it.
I'm a survivor of the episode 1. Haven't laughed this hard in ages. Comedy gold. I don't know if I'll survive next one...
Funimation and Crunchyroll merging would be glorious
I know it would suck for people to lose their jobs, but having to buy 4-5 subscriptions if you want to legally watch anime is absurd and these 2 channels merging would make up for Crunchyrolls lack of new shows, and for Funimations being one the worst streaming sites on the net, so it's a win/win in my book
I could be wrong but pretty sure this was green light back in 2018, but dam to make Berserk 2016 look good is a real accomplishment. The difference between what MAPPA did for the original God of High School despite adaptation being questionable the animation was solid, and this should make CR apologize to mangaka.
Comparing it to Overwatch porn is unfair since some stuff look Pixar level these days.
Other Crunchyroll Originals include God of Highschool and Gibiate.
Crunchyroll telling Japanese people how to make anime is like a deaf person telling a maestro how to compose a symphony after experiencing music for the first time ever.
I paused this video to go check out the trailer for myself...
I started laughing at around 9 seconds into it.
I don’t want anime that is like American shows, this is why I like anime, *because it’s different*
Chickengum sounds like a cool name
10:03 Chicken Gums! Oh that's good
Honestly, I'm not even against shows taking inspiration from RWBY, it had alot going for it back during the first 3 seasons.
It just needs to be done competently.
I'd LOVE more shows in it's style, but this is clearly not the way to do it.
The ONLY 3D anime I was surprised to enjoy was the Ghost in the Shell one. I seriously was not looking forward to it, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. But it's animation was waay better quality than that crap.
