Professor Akoijam, as a sociologist and one with insights, I agree that topographical and demographic aspects do play a critical role as a deciding factor for development, but how is that you blame the law and order problem/violence in the hills as reason for no development? Give adequate attention to Hills, provide jobs to the educated youths with equitable infrastructure and education, peace is imminent already. Nobody likes to pick up arms and expose ones life in jeopardy, it is the mistreatment and inequitable sharing of resources, and throttling of one's freedom and voice that leads to such outcomes. In fact, its the other way round. The world had enough testimonies, how comes you act indignant?
Manipur is one of the most unemployed states across all communities. If you look at the other districts in plain other than Imphal development is much behind. So thinking all meitei are developed and employed is naive and ignorant. The counter blockade started on the night of 2nd May by the Meoteis even before the Peace Rally on the 3rd of May by the Kukis and Nagas called on by ATSUM. Kuki travellers to towards Churachandpur and Saikul were stopped and ill treated at Moirang in Bishnupur district, and Sagolmang in Imphal East district respectively. However, there was no reaction from the Kukis, believing that the law will take it's own course. On the day of the Peace Rally (3rd May) a meitei truck was beaten up by the Kuki-Zo volunteers for intentionally running his truck over the water bottles that were kept for the rally goers to drink as it was a hot sunny day. After he was beaten, the police took stock of the problem and he was released and sent home safe and sound. The rally concluded around 01:30-02:00 pm on 3rd. While everyone was on their way home, Meitei miscreants set ablaze the ANGLO-KUKI WAR CENTENARY GATE located between Leisang and Tollen Village in Churachandpur district, which is just 5-6 km into Kuki-Zo dominated Churachandpur district from Meitei dominated Bishnupur District. On hearing the incident spread through WhatsApp, volunteers who were supposed to be on their way home detoured their way and gathered at the place of incident. The police was called and requested to take the matter into their hands and apprehend the culprits as soon as possible (Video proofs on RUclips). The CSO leaders cajoled and pacified the angry rally goers to return home. And as they were making their way home, those meiteis miscreants beat up the rally goers near Kangvai (a border village) and shot dead a Kuki-Zo man, and set the first house on fire. THIS TRIGGERED THE RALLY GOERS to come and respond to the violence started by the Meitei miscreants. In retaliation, they also vandalised houses and shops on the way to the site of the Violence (Kangvai/Torbung area). It was preplanned by the Meitei Miscreants. "When we went after those meitei miscreants post the death and arson, no meitei inhabitants were found in their homes in Kangvai and Torbung area. All the shops and houses were deserted" Ask me what's the proof? Answer: No death casualties were reported in Churachandpur of Meiteis on that fateful day in meitei settlements near Kangvai and Torbung boarder villages inhabited by both Meiteis and Kukis. Note: 1)The Meiteis fired the first bullet to Kill a Kuki-Zo. 2) Burnt the first house that belong to a Kuki-Zo. 3) All inhabitants of the bordering villages escaped to Bishnupur before the onset of the violence. 4) Houses of the Kuki-Zo were marked in Imphal from 2019 to Until recent past. That's how with precision they were able to target Kuki-Zo settlements. Do you think, they'd have such knowledge without being preplanned?
