Thanks Joy. Like always it was broken down well to its fundamentals and explained well. I have had this problem like everyone else. I also played around with my violin set up to make it work. I found out that in my case, changing to lower tension strings and using lighter color rosin and using absolutely minimum amount that is needed on the bow, improved the quality of the sound in this case.

Hi Joy, I am new to play violin and have been watching your videos when I don't quite understand my teacher's comments or just don't know how to find out what I need to change to play better :) it's very helpful. I found that when I cross my string to D, my G and 4th finger A are always a bit muffled and quiet. I'll keep my bow moving and keep it lighter for my practice. 👍 Thank you for your video

Thanks Vicky, when playing with the 4th finger, the length of the vibrating string is much shorter, and one has to move the bow closer to the bridge and apply more bow weight. I hope you can try it. Happy practising!

Been sure that video is about 7th+ position, currently learning to Moses fantasy by Paganini and struggling to play high e to a on G string an I don't like the sound

Is it normal for my violin especially g string to sound muffled and rasped in the highest positions? Are all violins like this?

Hi Bunify, it is harder to make a clear sound when playing higher positions oin the G String. However when you place the bow closer to the bridge you should be able to create a clean tone. Happy violin playing!
