It is a loss if the farmer buys this because this freshly packed maize will be high in moisture content but when the actual fermentation happens the moisture content will reduce hence reducing the weight of the fodder. These people don't know what is the protein% starch % and moisture %.

I don't know about others but We at our town sell only after 45-50 days on prior orders. Being science student, I know what's the effect of proper fermentation on the quality of Silage. Freshly chopped will be packed in a 60kgs capacity bags and stored in a dry place for further fermentation and it's stored in double coated bags to avoid Air and rats. We tend to have 28-35% of starch and 60-70% of moisture in Pure quality Whole plant corn silage.
