The fact Silent Planet could put out the masterpiece that is iridescent and then follow it up with another masterpiece is absolutely insane. The creativity and diversity in both albums is something I’ve never heard any bands do. It’s something new for them but still sounds like Silent Planet. Basically I love this band and can’t wait to see them again.

Offworlder is probably my favorite opening to any album ever. That first 30 seconds never ceases to not get my adrenaline pumped and make me wanna sprint for 10 miles. I think I still find the singles as the best part of the album, which is saying something considering how good it all is.

    @ensco7 9 месяцев назад +2

Having heard the singles in advance, the rest is too monotonous and not melodically original enough. Some tracks are just too similar.
Considering Garrett's statement that all the songs would be very different to one another, this was pretty disappointing.
The new style that they've explored in the album is the style that they have introduced with Collider and Annunaki. Heavy modern thall-fused metalcore with SP signature. It's well-made and pretty original, but it's too much of it.
The title track ironically stands out in that it doesn't sound anything like the rest. Unfortunately, the melodies in that track are uninspired and especially the chorus melody is predictable and overused.
Antimatter is a SOTY contender and I wish they would've explored the cyberpunk-ish direction a bit more.
That being said, Dreamwalker fucks, but so did more songs on Iridescent.
This doesn't come close to beating Heavener. If Heavener is a 10/10, Superbloom is a 7.5.

When the end began for sure and still today after listening to the album, maybe it will change even if I strongly doubt it, but I think the album on its own is fantastic and shows a great example of modern metalcore and a good way for Silent Planet to move towards. Nonetheless, as a Silent Planet album I find myself seeing less similarities between old and new Silent Planet which is good and obviously necessary otherwise they would always sound the same. But what I mean by that is that I am finding myself not seeing strong assets of Silent Planet that they used to do even in Irridescent (which I think is a perfect transition between the cycle of when the end began and this new era) I am talking about complex rythm patterns both for instrumentals and vocals, riffage that was very particular to Mitch with big riffs and jazzy elements here and there and a way of writing that was different from other guitarists. I do not by any means am saying that these elements are completely gone or even gone or that it's a bad decision from them. Of course I love their work and this album and strongly support the band and it's probably me being too much of a When the end began fan that makes me think this way. I however recognize that they are more focusing on the experiment modern metalcore side of things now especially with Buster on the mix which can explain what I've told previously. I will of course give it a ton more of listens to see how my perspective changes but this how with a couple of listens done already. Silent Planet is one of the best band in the genre no doubt

Got to admit it's groovy as hell and the choruses on all songs are clearly one of the best they've ever written. I hope this album give them the recognition they deserve

one of my favorite bands. the only tattoo I have is them. this is my least favorite album they've dropped. it feels like the heart is gone. I still like the album, but it didn't move me at all.

After listening to this multiple times, I still have to say When The End Began, but this one has got a lot of flavor to it.
I'm saying with confidence Collider is my favorite chourus of the year.

Gonna be such a hard AOTY for me this year, Polaris put out the perfect album, Veil of Maya released some of the best experimental djent in the game, and silent planet just decided to be the heaviest theyve ever been

A fusion of the last two singles, that's how I can describe the second track. Silent Planet just keep getting more innovative and creative. ^^ I love this album, has to be their best work yet, but a very close tie with the last album. I've watched a video where Mitch talked about the new baritone guitars he used, don't remember the name of the brand, but the guitars are sick! The overall vibe, sound, they worked really hard on it, and I'm sure people will love this release. The last track brought home the shoegazey vibes!

    "im sorry for the cringe"
My brother in christ, this is a reaction, this is what we look forward to
No need to apologise for singing! It makes for an interesting reviewing experience, definitely much better than someone staring and listening!
    Sing to your hearts content
Wouldn't mind some live covers during the reaction

There are tracks I enjoyed off the record, no doubt. However I didn't connect as i did with Everthing Was Sound or When the End Began. It's a personal taste and not a fallacy. I mearly miss the melody; and wish an end to the endless downtuning

Choosing let alone a best metalcore record of the 2023 seems near impossible
