This is my book Firebrand: Red Horizon.

It is the coming of age story of how ten friends become a crew, rescue a young lord who crashes on their shore, and discover they're part of a world that had previously existed only in stories.
As the Darkness returns to their home, they discover the legends they grew up on are their history, their ghost stories are the reality the world is about to face, and their heroes, well, they're not just part of their distant past.
