- Time for some drum machine coverage!
Roland just announced the new TR-6s! Its basically a light version of the TR-8s and very competent for its size. This is just my first coverage of it. Let's check out how it works, what it can and can't do!
Btw!
If you missed to check out the session I did for Roland on the MC-707... The link is right here:

Love the intro, it's really cool that you took the time to do the stop motion!:)
Nice video editing! Thanks for taking the extra time to make this video awesome.
Your demo tracks are phenomenal. I wasn't ready for that amazing beat where you demoed the master FX
Hey man, nice to see you reviewing this unit.
Your videos are very pleasant and informative, thank you very much!
Gear reviews, AKAI MPC, and NI MASCHINE sessions are my favorite videos from this channel.
Great video Accurate 🤙. I'm having a lot of fun catching up with your uploads from the past 5 months. I always come here and binge to get inspired.
So one could say the “TR-6S” is a “TR-SUCCESS” hehehe 😆
xactly :)
Simon The Magpie you funny,,,, 😊
Haha good one😆
Word naggah
Oh Simon you cheeky bastard, you.
Good vid my dude. Right to the point and very informative.
Thanks
Great video, and you re right in your conclusion about the creativity when you are more "limited". Thanks!
am glad that you have recuperated from your surgery men!, looking in good shape!
Great review. Love the creative workarounds. I want one!!
truly happy to see you healthy and up and about man
Accurate. G. That was the best beat I've heard you make
You are getting better with your productions...And, your productions were already stellar! Good job!
Thanks for that vid, You convinced to order it. It will be added my dawless setup with a Korg es1, a volca drum and a volca bass. This Roland is gonna add the refined sound I’ve been missing
Superb video Accurate! Sweet little drum device! 🔥
Great Demo! I just ordered mine and am very much looking forward to playing with it. I haven't had a roland drum machine since the TR-606 I acquired back in the early 90s
Great overview and demo, the TR-6S looks very, very interesting.
Ok, this just went on my To Buy list! Thanks!
As usual, I like your honest review.
Best unboxing ever.
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it!
Excellent demo. Thanks!
Nice groove that you created!
Im going to be getting this asap. That display reminds me so much of my JX 305
Such a cool little box. I was the same, I thought it was more limited than it is. But after checking out a Loopop video it turns out it’s pretty much the same unit bar the obvious knobs and channels and a couple of features! A little bit of easy menu diving and you can get to nearly everything the TR-8S can do! Great video man ✌🏻
Thanks buddy. I very much appreciate your approach, it is so informative and easy to follow. No comedy show and flashy video editing. Big thanks especially for that! Great communication skills and cool muze. Cheers!
P.S. A deeper video on the melodic possibilities of fhe tr6s is welcome anytime.
Damn looks pretty clean! love all the parameters
These videos are helping me understand how to best use the Step Sequencer function of the MPC
Bro you are looking great! Love your channel.
Thank you!
that's kinda sweet and specially size wise looks great.
Would you say this would play nice as a brain for sequencing with semi modular setups? Looking for a first solid drum machine in a DAW-less setup and this definitely ticks a lot of boxes. (Also a stepping stone for sampling?)
Thanks for the video, very informative. I already own it for a few days now, i'm still learning...
your hihat "trick" is really cool to save one track for other stuff. :-)
How did you enter the decay setting? This should also be possible for different tom sounds, right?
Mighty drummer. Thanks for another precise review, Accurate! Certainly one more plastic box to skip, but can see it sitting somewhere on or in between synths for no-obligation groove making while DAW-less phun (OP-Z fills that niche for me). I like straight to function attitude in a small-factor box (exactly, ts-8s as you mentioned and/or drumbrute for that matter are too bulky for the purpose, for me at least). It does look like (functionally and footprint) it goes into right direction for having perfect pocket/table drummer..... M+ would do though ;)
CAn you perhaps make another video explaining how you uploaded the samples on the machine? Cheers!
Thanx a lot man! Cool vid!
You rocked it as usual! Roland has stepped up their game to take on Korg Volcas, Behringer clones, and Elecktron sample and cycles devices. Its a great time to be a musician.
LOL, stepped up their game to adress the competition that actually DID listen to us? Roland is a total JOKE!
@@messolini6479 Hahahaaaa
@@messolini6479 You're calling the company that developed the first analog, most iconic and most influential drum machine of all time a joke? I bet you're music and music making skills are a joke!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@messolini6479 and for the record the Korg Volcas and Behringer Clones sound AWFUL. Thats why I dont own any of their products. But I have a Fantom X6 from 2005 that still works!!!!
I’ve got a TR-8s, but still fancy a TR-6s. It seems a lot of fun!
I love the stop-motion unboxing :)
Wow man! I haven't seen one of your videos in quite awhile. You look and sound so much better since your surgery. I have no idea what you had to go through (and still are), but congratulations to you. You should be proud of yourself.
PS. I apologize if you are sick of hearing these comments if you get them a lot. I know I kinda would be. But your progress is amazing.
Seriously, I'm taken aback by how healthy he looks, inspiring to see.
@@g.marion5888 it really is inspiring.
Nice review. I want one 🥰
Hey man, I’m looking for a stand-alone setup moving away from the pc. Does this Roland machine work standalone, and would you recommend it? I’ve seen your videos on the mpc one which looks great just not sure where to invest!
Thanks Accurate Beats
I just want to ask, is there any kind of box or drum machine like this with gate outs (in line cable, not midi). I would like to sync my juno 60 and pro one to my computer. Thanks
Can you loop the variations of the patterns in different order and different length? As in play the first variation 3 times and 2 times the next? Or that but than in any random order like the novation circuit can?
How is the sample workflow and functionality compared to the volca sample 1 or 2? So it like the volca sample but also with acb drum sounds? If I want to creat melodic sample based stuff on one track and drums on another track is that possible?
Nice review Accurate
I wanted to get the Tr8 and and TR8s but never did. I now want to add a new side tool to my flow and the TR-6s seems loaded to do so. Now how about narrowing down the MC-101 vs Tr-6s . They are also overlapping. I wanted the TR-6s for the drum and beat making on sequence. I'm actually confused what would be the better buy between the two at this point? And now after the CES it seems the Roland MV-1 is full of options if you spend a little more. I seem to juggle all these and go back to the Tr-6s. I have a MPCone and a Sp-404sx, do I really need the features in the Roland MV-1? These are my thoughts currently. could you discuss on this in a future video bro?
Great demo
I love this mini synths
loved the track u created
Thanks for the insight on this little beast. Question, there is only one 'Lo Tom' slot..how would you record the mid and hi toms? Thanks in advance!
By adjusting the pitch of each lo Tom step. Similar to the way you would do it on a volca drum. Or you can use two more of
Your 6 parts to add mid and hi Toms
Definitely going to squirrel away some money and grab one in a few months. I'm a big fan of travel-sized synths and instruments and can see this one having space on my Truck. :)
I already own an MC-101 and find it difficult to learn. I'm wondering if this would make a better replacement for a portable drum machine.
Whats difficult about the MC-101? I've had mine for 3 months and I'm finding it to be pretty easy and a lot of fun!
What’s the length in sample time?
Hola, how firmware up date for roland Tr6s i have versión 1.0 . Gracias Thank you
thank you, nice tutorial
This looks like a premium volca. I want one.
Very good description
I was thinking of getting a volca drum but now this is out...I know its twice the price but this is so tempting.
@@halcyondaystunes twice the price but 10 x more powerful and versatile
As the owner of a volca drum/bass/keys/korg es-1/Korg esx1, I can assure you that my Roland tr6s sounds better than all of them. If you can afford this box skip the volca beats, the volca drum is a different beast but with the Roland you always have solid professional sounding drums without having to design them on the volca drum.
Will it have compatibility with the sp-404a?
Very nice video!!! Im curious if you can power the TR6S over phone charger. I think drum machines powered over USB are kinda step back. If I'm willing to buy some hardware it's because I wanna get rid of the computer onstage.
It can use batteries
Can it send multi track via the usb audio out?
Hi, does it feel super small and fiddly I really want one but am doubting the size! Is it really that small and fiddly??
Compared to the Roland 101 Groovebox , would you say this has way more actual drum sounds..kicks, snares, etc ?
hi, just a quick question, I love the sound of the CR78 and have two sample packs containing the sounds of the original kit and would love to import the whole kit (as individual samples - kick, snare, etc) and use it as a whole, but i don't think I'm super sure the TR6S can actually do that, could anyone confirm this to me? great video!
A question. How would you mix individual elements? Is it even possible? Or do you need to record individual elements separately and then process them?
I own the 101, and guessingit'sthe same, as you can change parameters for purposes of mixing.
You are really doing a great job accurate i love your beat, you give me the idea of creating my RUclips channel , i really need to learn more from you !!!!
Thanks! Means a lot
Thanks for the great review. Is the USB Audio output restricted to stereo or is it 6 seperate outputs?
Stereo
I might consider getting one
Cool stuff kind sir. Amateurs' question: can I use this as a track in Ableton? So whatever I make with it to be one track in Ableton. I have Arturia's microfreak, I have a midi keyboard, and now I am thinking if I should get this or just a pedal like the strymon nightsky. Thank you
Hi!
Yeah, you could definitely do that! You’d have a lot of different options there too and use the midi connections to make them speak to one another. A drum machine like this one can really make a big difference to your workflow!
Thank you for watching!
Yo please speak to your Roland homies and tell
em we need an updated like an sp404xl or even a new version sp555!!!
All we get are drums machines and synths but we want new samplers!
I cant be the only one lol!...rant over, thanks for the dope vids!
REMY GOLD // GLDN1 preach bro! Roland need to do a sampler with an old skool vibe, more MPC 1000 than MPC X!
Yeah! This really makes a lot of sense. I love the idea of an sp404xl!
REMY GOLD // GLDN1 you might want to check out the MC-707. You get intégra sounds and sample playback with velocity sensitivity
We'd also like a new (portable?) RC505 looper sequel!
You're not the only one.
Well, for me it's too late. I bought a Blackbox (1010music) and a Kaoss Pad 2 mini. Great combo.
have this one sounds from linndrum? also you can use it as sampler? like to upload wav files like files from linndrum and play them to it?
Will this replace all Roland boutique drum machines? on what it can do?
As an MPC expert , what do you think about the Note Repeat abilities on this machine?
Definitely doesn't compare to the MPC from what I can tell. No triplet subdivisions for Note Repeat from what I've seen. I have the same gripe with the MC-101, but the workaround is to sequence with the MPC and use the other devices as sound modules. With the new 2.8 Multi-MIDI it actually works pretty well.
man this is a good video
not only does one pattern hold 8 variations, but you can even chain all 16 patterns in a bank together to play in a row! Just too bad that you cannot give that command via MIDI PC message, only for individual patterns (or does anyone know how to do that?)
This and the sp404sx will be a sick combo.
Yuuup
Great review.
One question: What are those headphones?
Thanks in advance
Keep it up
Thank you!
One answer: Neumann ndh20.
You’re welcome
Thanks, I’ll try!
@@AccurateBeatsHow do you like them for production purposes and what can you compare them to? Do you use for mixing or strictly producing?
Reminds me of the Korg Volca Sample. That one (without the USB port), however, is 135 Euro. This one is 387 Euro. Okay, the Korg doesn't do effects per sample. You get global reverb or global anything if you buy a Zoom MS70-CDR multi effect (approx. 100 Euro).
can combine it with maschine plus or mk3 in your work flow ?
Yes, definitely! Especially sequencing it via MIDI
I think it would be cool to pair this with the SP right?
It would be dope
Question, what would be the best beat making device under $500 to produce rap type beats that can also take samples
You can find a used mc101 for around 300$ pretty easy now.
Yo Accurate! You only have one cable out the back. Mono? Is there any reason to use the stereo out, such as panning FX etc, or is it perfectly useable just on mono? Thanks, love the channel.
Hey!
I’m deaf on one ear so I keep everything in mono. The tr6s has panning options and stereo samples that could be used in stereo... Not for me though :p
@@AccurateBeats .... Ohhhhh 👍✊🙏
does it have probability/chance ?
Looks cool, Im sure its great..
But how many times will they reinvent this wheel?
FOR-EV-ER
for me, its a great toy. but you will end up selling it after a while lol
Thats the thing, they don't. Still no reasonable 808 "re-release" from Roland. The full analog behringer "clone" on thh other hand is extremely good and dirt cheap.
Why even consider trash like this?
@@messolini6479 because the Behringer 808 clone is trash. Theres a video review of someone comparing it to the Roland Boutique and the Decay time doesn't match at all, so its impossible to get the "Boom" 808 out of the Behringer. The TR-6S is a perfect companion for anyone that owns an MC-101, Behringer will never make anything this powerful.
@@furiosound I've kept my Fantom X6 for 15 years and this machine will be no different.
i know i shouldnt watch because i’m going to want it, but ur videos r too damn good
thanks 🙏
Does it sync with Serato?
Off subject are you going to make a video about the arranger in maschine. Showing how you would use it and when. Nice video.
I will do something like that someday! :))
I have a lot right now but Maschine+ and the new clips system will be covered.
@AccurateBeats Hi, I have a Maschine MK3 already, a TR-6S and a Roland S1 both on preorder.
It only just occurred to me that I could possibly sync the 3 devices together. If able to sometime, would you steer me in the right direction on how that works? To sync them all.
What connects to what port. I don't know which device I should use as a master, but I do have an imac, a daw, maschine 2.0 software, midi controller keyboard and an m-audio m track duo interface...but maschine mk3 has interface too.
I thought I'd ask because you have a maschine hw, and familiar with tr-6S and maybe the s1 too.
I hope you're well and TY for the great content.
great intro 👍🏻
I like tr6s because it's small, but I'd love to have tr8s because it has 11 tracks + more hand on controls.
Wow cool
Between the tr6s and the behringer rd8, which one is better?
I’d say the tr6s... It has way more functions and is overall a more flexible device :)
It always depends on what your specific needs are though.
Thanks for watching
So I can use my own drumloops and tune them?
Yes
whats going on with your speakers..
Hot product. Small and powerful battery powered
Nice studio.
Can somebody tell me how would it compare with elektron digitakt?
LO LDIgitakt is sample based
Tr6s and tr8s = acb + some samples
@@WARDISWARD With the amount of effects ad filters I'm really unsure whether it matters that much if you are starting from a clean wave or a sample. I'm aware that's not a popular opinion though.
Would it pair well with the digitakt or the digitone?
Im only starting out, would u reccomend this to a beginner like myself
It depends do you want a drum machine or an all in one machine. If you like the form factor it would be between the tr6s or the 101. I have the 101 and you can create scenes it comes with over 3000 sounds. I will probably get the tr6s to pair with my 101. Check out youtube to see what both machines can do to help you decide ;)
@@mojodrum3215 cheers mate will do
I wish it could apply sidechain compression to its tracks.
Sick beat that’s getting sampled 🎯
