Please do your research before buying a trike motorcycle. After so many years on twos, what challenges have you experienced with your first trike? Let us know, and thanks for watching.
I've always wanted a trike. My doctor told me to give up riding my Street Glide because I wouldn't be able to support the weight after my knee replacement surgery. After watching your videos, I purchased a used 2021 Ultra Tri Glide. I road from North Carolina to DC and back with no issues. I just got one of my knees replaced, the other later. I just can't wait to start riding my trike again. Also, stress to your viewers about spacial awareness when pulling a trike up to the gas pump. I almost forgot. Thanks for your videos!
Good review, everything you talked about is true, I’m 78 years old and have been riding motorcycles since the 70s, now because of health problems I’m looking at a Harley RG3 trikes.
Even thou most of the hardened bikers don’t class a trike as a motorcycle, I still class myself as a motorcyclist! Yes it’s a snowmobile with wheels, but it’s so much fun once you get used to how it handles. We have a 2022 Spyder RTL chrome model & enjoy it so much, having upgraded a few things to personalize it. We also have met so many people who have the same experience with different trike models. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you ride your still getting out there with the wind in your face! Ride safe what ever you ride. Regards Stephen Alberta Canada
My trike is still a motorcycle! At 73 had a Frankenstein conversion kit put on my 883 Iron sportster, still a motorcycle, though it is different to ride, but got my knees in the breeze for a while longer👍😁!
Regarding steering, on a Goldwing trike a rake kit will make a big difference. Think of it like adding power steering. My trike is a 2019 GL1800 DCT Tour with CSC trike conversion.
Gracias Miguel, compatriota veterano. I have just ignored all your recommendations and put a deposit on. 2018 Goldwing Roadsmith trike, 23k miles with over $5k in accessories. Today is 11/24/24 and I am about to see in person for the first time next week. I am in PR and the trike is near DFW. I would love to communicate with you further regarding this new adventure. Gracias.
When you crash your Harley and your stubborn long haired southern man that first Harley to the core 2nd lost left arm function and left side weakness but still live to ride then a trike is my way. I took a 99 ultra and did a motor trike kit with auto clutch kit and a degree fork and it has 156.532 miles on it but it's down for 3 rebuild this winter on the motor.
This was a very good and educational video. Since I have a disability, I cannot hold up a motorcycle at a stoplight. I went with a trike. Unfortunately even the used one's are astronomical in pricing. I bought a new one from a different company and it has just about all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately I cannot ride it on the highway. The motor is under 250cc. I'm happy with it because I use it to get around the city and nearby towns. I'm glad some company was thinking about the moderately poor. lol
Take a MSF class first. I did before I purchased a Can-Am Spyder. I grew up riding cycles. I hadn’t ridden since 1991 and needed a refresher course. Took the MSF in 2022. Have been riding the Spyder since then, and have been having lots of fun.
I have a Softail heritage, that at 47 thousand miles, had an R&R MOTOR TRIKE conversion, now it has 97 thousand miles. They are very different from two wheels. I still have another heritage Softail two wheels that I rode. Been riding bikes since I was 16 , I love them all, as long as they do not have a steering wheel.🤔
Put a voyager trike kit on my 03- flh$ big mistake $$$ handle bars whip out of hands on turns ,going up ,down step incline ramps, your front end is rake for 2 wheels not 3! Took to factory to ck installation, done correct! Lots of crashes on Twisties, not slowing down! Definitely a different learning process to learn! I was fighting with the push and pull of handle bars at higher speeds above20 mph the higher speeds super strength to keep handle bar from whipping totally in ! The front end would go lock left or right angle and couldn't slow that turn twisting ! Oh your front end needs to be cut rake for $$$ more to be stable! Time to hang it up!
It's unfortunate it didn't work out for you. Factory trikes don't seem to have that problem. I heard trike kits can be a yes or no for most people. Thanks for watching.
I don't know why there are low-mileage HD trikes for sale but Harley owners tend to trade in their motorcycles for the latest and newest Harley has to offer. Thanks for watching.
Mostly I already purchased third bike because my two other bikes got stolen and third bike is Piaggio mp3 250ie no body will steal it and next bike will be Amigo tryker 300cc trike a clone of a Can-Am Canyon because of the injuries from my Horseshoe Casino bad fall!😅
I've had Trikes and even built them in the 1970's from wrecked VW Beetles. I had one that people could test ride before deciding to order one. Today I'm old as well as disabled. I simply can't ride on two wheels anymore. Instead of going with a standard Trike I got a Sidecar and attached it to my motorcycle. At first I thought it was doing its best to kill me. Especially the first time the sidecar wheel left the ground in a right turn. Left turns and right turns are two completely different things on a motorcycle with a Sidecar. After that initial steep learning curve driving a sidecar outfit is the most fun you can have with a motorcycle. If you are an attention whore your needs will be fully filled lol. You literally can't ride around with an empty Sidecar without a cover on it. I did that when I started riding and ended up with a crazy woman in it while sitting at a Red Light. I wish I had started driving Sidecar outfits before I became old and disabled. Don't expect a sidecar outfit to cost less than a standard Trike. You can and probably will spend a lot more on the sidecar that you have in the motorcycle plus the expense of getting it attached to the motorcycle especially if you can't fabricate your own brackets to accomplish that.
You don't ride a trike, you drive it. You have to steer it like you do a golf cart. I had a chopped (extended from end, 8.5" American mags, polished "differential) Harley Servicar that was good for laughs but no way was it a motorcycle.
@USARAY1947 if it has a saddle that you must straddle, handlebars to maneuver, foot controls, two but no more than three wheels is considered a motorcycle by DMV. If it has a chair like seat with seat belts and steering wheel, then it's not a motorcycle.

@@sandmanrides4318 Not so in California. You don't need a motorcycle license to drive a trike so by definition in California a trike isn't a motorcycle. Aside from legalize, you ride a motorcycle and drive a trike. The experiences are totally different.

That is one of the most uninformed statements I’ve read in a long time. I have hips and knee issues which prevent me from riding a 2 wheeled bike but I’m plenty capable of riding a trike.

I recently went from decades of riding two wheel motorcycles to a trike (Can-Am Spyder) and I love it. Great video.
That is awesome!

@fire3048 and that is what it's all about. Stay in the wind my friend.
The can am spiders are engineered built to feel and act like a snowmobile. I don't care fer em but to each his own.
Can you do another video on the difference between two-front wheel tires and two-rear end tires? Which would be better for long distance travel?
My trike is still a motorcycle! At 73 had a Frankenstein conversion kit put on my 883 Iron sportster, still a motorcycle, though it is different to ride, but got my knees in the breeze for a while longer👍😁!

Been riding 50+ years. I'm getting old with increasing health issues. My next bike will have to be a trike. Might have a year or two. Maybe.
You will not regret it.

Just a couple things different from 2 wheel riding... Nothing hard about the trike....

You forgot the Ryker. In Australia they cost about the same, if not less, then a lot of bikes of the same CC.
That is a great trike. Unfortunately, I only have so much I can fit into a short video.

Good points. 3 wheelers in CA need only a class 3 (auto) license.........har.har.har........lol.

I used to have a friend who was handicapped his trike had a porche 911 engine he was fast no fear
That trike must have pulled his skin back. Awesome!
@sandmanrides4318 I was on the back of it once he has no fear but I like to get home in one piece
I see a lot of low mileage HD trikes listed for sale. Buyer's remorse? Pro Tip: Rumble no longer exists on newer HD's.

The original trike. Nice.
THANKS MUCH !!!
Rewaco or Boom trikes are a million miles better than a Harley trike, I own a Rewaco 1600 low rider (seat height 18") and is amazing.
A million miles better? Thanks for watching.
The answer is a sidecar 1/2=the price can be taken off for 2 wheeler
