James had essentially outshined Ken during his briefer appearance on the show and you could tell that this tournament meant a LOT to Ken. And in the end Ken deserved to win; although he humbly and correctly stated that with just a different question here, or a contrasting category there, the outcome could easily have been different. And Brad's style of buzzing in just didn't work versus James and Ken; it wasn't that he missed that many answers (although a couple Double Jeopardy moments definitely set him back).

He essentially retired from the game for years, only to return for this tournament due to Trebek's bout with Cancer. But after so many years (where the game changed a LOT, especially due to James' shift in strategy), he was so out of practice he couldn't remain competitive. He absolutely deserved to be in the GOAT tournament, but had no real chance of winning. It's like if Babe Ruth facing off against the 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff. It's not that he's talented, it's just the game has moved on so drastically.
