Most of the successful film composers of the 20's and onwards were classical composers like C.W. Chadwick, so it makes sense that the early film scores sounded like this. (Not to diminish Chadwick's talent or influence. This is a remarkable piece and I don't know enough about musical history.)
Yeah! It is like movie title music. :) His Jubilee from Sym Sketches reminds me of movie music to go with pioneers in covered wagons entering California or at the rest of a mountain range!

This was composed in 1909, but it sounds like a 1950's film score. Incredible composer ahead of his time!
