Great to see you smiling again and joking around (love that sly grin!)… I hope the grieving process is nearing its end and the healing is setting in more each day…and welcome back to the great state of NC, second only to PA…God speed.
If you’re living near the Smokies now, you should hike some of the trails that go up to places on the AT where you’ve already been but there’s some beautiful ways to get there. Like Anthony Creek to Thunderhead aka Rocky Top. Really beautiful in the snow. Or hike the section between Clingmans and Newfound Gap when it’s green. Thru hikers miss the best part of the year there because they get there too early. It’s amazing when it’s green. Or Wayah Bald when the color is best in about 10 more days.
Nice to have you on trail again. You're in one of my favorite parts of the country. My wife and I have chased a lot of waterfalls in western NC and northeastern TN. Keep moving!
awesome times, I love the art loeb, shining rock wilderness is epic.the trail magic is provided by mountain high shuttles, that cooler has been there since early June! love your videos.happy trails!
I must say, the area surrounding Camp Daniel Boone is one of the best parts of the Appalachians. I went to the camp last summer to do one of their high adventure itineraries in Panthertown Valley. I'd strongly recommend hiking there, but you will come across people if you go to some of the waterfalls on the main trails.
Hi, I came across your channel while recovering from covid and actually watched your past videos from 2019. Thank you!! I’ve really enjoyed your channel and look forward to future videos. Safe & Happy trails🥾
If you are still in the area check out the Foothills Trail on the border of NC and SC very well maintained and very much like the AT. The Chatooga river section is awesome (remember Deliverance!)
Very cool blog of a fall hike in southern Appalachian. I hiked the AT this year and it reminding me a lot of the trail in the first 900 miles, great memories. Great to see you smiling. I feel your in a much better place than when you left the CDT.
I really enjoy your hikes. Ty for taking the time to film and edit. Edit: were it not for all the gear advancement i wouldn't be able to backpack at all. It's given the trail back to some of us.
I am glad you guys you enjoyed the Art Loeb trail. I really enjoyed hiking the trail, last year, after I thru hiked the Pinhoti and Benton Mackay trail.
I was out running last night and had to shoot a snot rocket and started laughing! Laughing because I was wondering how you where doing!!! Glad to see your back.
"The Narrows" reminds me why I like hiking in California so much more than out East. j/k (though kinda really) this looks like a nice little weekend trail.
wow! ...I haven't gotten any RUclips notifications about your last few uploads(Thanks RUclips!) ...I'm glad to see you back at Thru-hiking again Rocket! All the best for the Season, and have a blast in the new year!
Thanks for sharing! That man looks familiar, I believe we saw each other thru-hiking in 2012. I''m itching to hike, I went day hiking checking out the Laurel Highlands trail a couple weeks ago while camping nearby at a place called Linn Run. A thru hike of that trail is hatching in my brain, lol
Your so amazing, im new to RUclips and I honestly have to tell you that your amazing... I watched your stuff from beginning to end..... i laughed, had a tear or two and it hit home... thank you for inspiring me
Great to see you out hiking, I've been loving following your videos! If you have a chance I'd love a review of your LiteAF pack, I noticed you loaned it out!! Do you still love it, find it comfy, any features you especially love?? Happy hiking.
I was doing a section hike on the AT between Dick's Creek Gap and the NOC at the same time you were here on the Art Loeb. I saw your tag "ROCKET" on the back wall in the Wesser Bald shelter near the NOC, if that was indeed your tag from your thru hike. Great time and weather to be out on the trail!
I never hiked in trail runner sneakers I had Vasque with ankle support or even good workboots. I was never a pizza person and I won't say what I called it. I was a sub/hoagie person I don't care how good everyone says the pizza is it's a fib/lie. When hiking multiple bags of jerky. good to see you back out there kid-o.
I've always thought it was weird how people who hike complain about Trail maintenance they remind me of people that use the motorized shopping carts at a grocery store when they don't need it
Been missing your smile and humor. Glad your back on trail.
Great to see you smiling again and joking around (love that sly grin!)… I hope the grieving process is nearing its end and the healing is setting in more each day…and welcome back to the great state of NC, second only to PA…God speed.

Nice video! Definitely get great views after Black Balsam. Hiking up to Shining Rock and Cold Mt are worthwhile if you have time.

Are you thinking about hiking the North Carolina Mountain to Sea Trail ?
Bravo, you found a tent mate.
Been missing your Posts!
Get those miles in until next time be safe

Ive never tagged a shelter or written on the wall. Youll only see my signage in hostels or approved places ♥️
Awesome!😄👍👣🤙🤘
What brand of green sweatshirt you wear?
Melanzana leadville micro grid!
What is "long John"? Help us who are not familiar with the character...
Hes my new hiking partner ♥️
Always wanted an orange tent. Anyone know what tent it was?
Its the big agnes tiger wall!
@@jls935 Got it. Thanks Julia.
Great trail, but Asheville after my section hike gets a 10-10 they like mountain sleaze like me.
New shelter st butter gap. Deep gap shelter being rebuilt
Go Rocket!
Which breweries did you go to, and which was your favorite?
I do miss you young lady
I never hiked in trail runner sneakers I had Vasque with ankle support or even good workboots. I was never a pizza person and I won't say what I called it. I was a sub/hoagie person I don't care how good everyone says the pizza is it's a fib/lie. When hiking multiple bags of jerky.
good to see you back out there kid-o.
Which way is the preferred way? North to South or South to North? Love your videos Rocket!!!!!
It depends on when you want the views! We saved the views for last! We went northbound
Ooh what pack are you using? I love that blue color, looks almost iridescent!
Its the Gossamer Gear g4-20
You would have had pictures of shining rock, it's a bit off trail. Cold MTN is another side trail is another off shot to check off list.
We accidentally climbed shining rock. The massive quartz boulder at the top was ice cold!
Go Rocket!!!
No compass or map?
I've always thought it was weird how people who hike complain about Trail maintenance they remind me of people that use the motorized shopping carts at a grocery store when they don't need it
Now do Linville gorge
Ain't doing a bunch of miles in the gorge. That place will humble you in more ways than one. Gorge Rat, last!
I dont much care for those green tunnels....but ohh well...cant all be like the PCT !!!
New boyfriend?
Boyfriend seemed hard work, be no good on that Florida trail.
