I'm surprised the new surprising ingredient isn't LARD. Costco started putting lard in the frosting of their small cakes (they look like giant round cupcakes). They taste TERRIBLE now and I felt a coating of disgusting lard in my mouth that no longer tasted like frosting at all.
My cousin told me she uses baby food (carrots) in her carrot cake. It came out really moist. I was surprised. She never gave me the recipe. So I can’t share.
All of these store-bought cakes are too sweet for my taste. Druther just buy a bag of fresh apricots when I see nice ones at the produce section in my store.
