- This gin-clear Taupo River is world famous for the big trout it holds. On this fly fishing trip, I am targeting big rainbow trout in the shallows with a dry dropper rig.

Beautiful rainbo And beautiful stream
Thank you
Great video, I wasn’t sure about the shoulder cam at first, but now I like it.
Great, appreciate the feedback. I'll try not to use it relentlessly but it does make it much easier to get extra angles when I'm fishing on my own.
Digging the shoulder cam!
Awesome, glad you do. Looks like it will end up a standard part of my kit for a while whilst trying not to overdo it.
Some great fish there Johan. Luckily the water is warm now and it's not so bad taking a dip!
Haha yeah, that would have been a wader filler had I been wearing them. All wet wading at the moment so I was just a little bit more wet 😂 Love getting them out of the shallows especially the ones on dries.
looking round, persistence and being prepared to change either tactic or location always pays off, another good video Johan.
Thanks Neil, much appreciated. It's always very rewarding when you turn around a slow day.
You have done pretty good on that shallows before we went to the lake. Well done Johan 👏
Yeah that's a great little spot. I normally get a few more out of there but not this time. Hopefully we catch up again soon.
Hey Johan looking quite low aye. Well done with the hook 🪝 ups mate.
Craig
First time in a while it was nice and low and clear. I like it that way in summer. Hope to visit soon when the cicadas and then vinehoppers come into full force. Fun dry fly fishing but frustrating at times with the vine hoppers.
2:03 sir is your cam ok 🙂😮
Yes thank you, it's waterproof (GoPro & Insta360) so no problem.
I've noticed you've been asking what thumbnails get people's attention, in what I have seen the most intriguing thumbnails have a lot of color as well as some slight editing. I feel like it would look a lot more interesting if there were some lettering on the thumbnail (try white with like a red or yellow highlight) just to grab attention. Im not trying to critique just tying to be helpful. I love watching you videos and hope to catch some nice fish like these one day. With regards from Washington state. 🎣🏔🏞
Thanks, always appreciate feedback and always trying to work out thumbnails. They are so important but super tricky to get right. I haven't had much luck with text in the past but Always willing to give it a go. I'll see how the click through rate goes with this one and make a few variations with text to compare. Just need to work out what to write.
Yeah one of my favorite youtubers does really cool thumbnails but he keeps his fish so it's a lot different.
@@echofc983 keen to see some examples, what's the channel?
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing its called nwfs, based here in washington but like I said, he take a lot of his pictures after he's kept it. Still good thumbnails though.
@@echofc983 thanks, will check it out. Might be some inspiration.
