@@RutuUSA I think the Ayurvedic doctor’s advice is the most inappropriate in this case. Ayurvedic doctors do not perform surgery and I suspect he had no much understanding of this condition. Surgery is the only treatment for brain tumours.

Well, you should check out with the white Americans who come to India for medical tourism for life saving surgeries. We dont have to wait endlessly for MRI & test reports & we have options to change our doctors you see. Talk about it,both my parents were killed by doctor negligence in india.these doctors are very experienced.atleast every thing is accountable.
This isn’t the American dream; it’s an American nightmare. It’s deeply disheartening, and unfortunately, similar things are happening in the UK. My heart goes out to that brilliant man who wanted nothing more than to be there for his wife and kids, but tragically, he’s no longer with us. As men, we often prioritize everything-especially work-over our own health, and it can have devastating consequences. I experienced something similar with an ear problem that led to facial paralysis in November and December of 2022.
I have immense respect for the courageous woman who shared her story with such strength and resilience. She’s gone through so much pain. I hope her husband is watching over her and their children in some way. May his soul rest in peace.

@@L20241 NHS is not the same as it used to be. When you have to wait months for treatment,you have no choice than spending your own money for private treatment. I can see NHS is driving people towards that path.
@@SUJAMUK it’s the same here in the US but a million times more costly. I have to wait 20-30 min for my pcp during my appointment which is hardly 15 mins. After that I’m charged with a huge bill. Even when I was in London I have to wait 20 mins but it’s “free”. I’d much rather that than over here!

I am a doctor in India Hyd there is a tremendous Change in the health care system. No one needs to stay for hrs in the emergency n for appointments. There are wonderful Drs who care for the pts immediately- love my fraternity.

I feel bad for her. She is a fighter. It's bad luck. What is the guarantee, that this surgery might have been successful in India? It's related to the brain, which is always risky. We can't just rule out like that. In India, they might have paid a great deal of money too.
I empathize with you. You are a very strong woman. Best Mother and Wife one can imagine. On a side note HealthCare is not that bad in the US. I am a provider Physician in the system, so probably will take the blame. If one is very sick they have morelikelihood to survive in the US compared to rest of the world. If one is not that sick then one will feel neglected here. God give you all the courage and happiness to lead your life suc free soul raising your beautiful children.

America doesn't have any charm left at his point. I'm the second generation here, have lived here for the past 33 years, and came to America as a teen. I don't want to stay here. I'm exploring the option of moving elsewhere, but not to India. I'm not sure why Indians dream of coming here.

I am a Surgeon myself in the US and I can certainly empathize with your story. Truly sorry for your loss. A lot of frustrations that you had mentioned in your video have explanations, but I feel nobody has taken the time to clarify these issues for you. To me, as a Physician, although I don't know the complete details of your husband's case, it wasn't the Dural AVF by itself that stands out as the problem. That was a relatively uncommon complication that your husband had developed and I wouldn't necessarily fault your husband's Surgeon for that. In my opinion, things REALLY took a downturn during that Angiogram and that's what I can't understand. Knowing what happened there is the key to this entire situation. But, I know that it's not going to bring your husband back..unfortunately. Stay strong for your kids and I am sure that you are in the Almighty's good graces

These things happen in India too, my brother in law fell down and the Dr in India sent him home after checking him up. They didnt do an MRI or give proper instructions. the next day he went into coma, then he was on ventilator. The trauma and the expenses the family went through was unimagineable. At the end we lost him.
Sir, but delaying/cancelling the appointments multiple times would not it increase the pressue. if not, appointments were cancelled i believe situation would have been different

I watched the sad and unfortunate story of your life and can understand how tough the situations would have been for you. You faced everything boldly and handled with steady mind. Anyone else in your place would have collapsed. Narrating the events chronologically without a tear in your eyes shows your inner strength. We may blame the system but whatever happened had to happen as per the script and that's the reason you stay put there to face the allocated Prarabdha. Thanks to Sahithi for sharing her experience while in USA. I have lost my wife, who was healthy, when she underwent a simple head surgery in the US. .Doctors are stressed in the US hospital system. They have to meet certain number of cases as a part of their productivity requirement, otherwise they will get fired. Many places there are doctors shortage and now they are filling these positions with NP'S and PA's. These are middle level providers. Their delivery of quality care is questionable. They have not gone through an intense training like doctors. As she mentioned we have many choices in India for health care. I am sure day by day the healthcare system in India is improving. Here there are many restrictions due to insurance requirement. Hope her story will inspire many people to be careful while seeking healthcare.

True, not only doctors, none in USA works 24/7.We Indians rather work like mad even in USA..I always wonder despite having the dedicated professionals in India, we lack infrastructure and opportunities in India and are compelled to come here
What I seen in USA 🇺🇸 …the clinics milk down all the insurance amount until your quota is reached …. You goto a small checkup for kid and they scare you for lot of things ADHD ASD spectrum and refer to speech therapy behavior therapy occupational therapy even though you know that kid is perfectly normal in Indian sense. I think doctors make sure every one is making money and not sitting ideally and just milk the insurance company.

I left American dream 12 years ago and came back after being in USA for 6-7 years. I faced multiple issues in career, personal, health wise in India too but I am still happier than when I was in USA. My family support system is so strong that it would have been difficult to face it all alone in USA.

I am a Hospitalist in United States… I really feel for this poor young woman and her 2 little children… very very unfortunate.. I would be frustrated beyond limits if the Angiogram is rescheduled multiple times this way.. I wish he had remained in the Hospital instead of leaving, maybe the outcome would be different… who knows.. Things in India is also not rosy, especially in Hospitals. However in Hyderabad and Chennai things are much more professional I think. I sincerely pray, Sahithi and the children are ok in India..

This problem is not only with US it is with other countries other than India. We live in NewZealand and yes we have doctors shortage here. They dont take anything seriously at all. India our country is better in education and healrhcare system too. Hopefully we come back to India by this year end.

What a heartbreaking trauma for the whole family! Brave of you Sahithi to speak up and do this video and bring awareness to others. Your late husband sounds like a genuinely responsible and family loving man who tried his best to protect you while suffering through his own health issues... and also not bother friends and acquaintances. I can't imagine how much stress he must've been under for those couple of years ... the upcoming baby, the baby's health issues, then fear of losing his hearing, then his vision, eventually his job and his American dream. He must've been so worried about the family. 😢 No one should have to face this.

I am an Orthopedic Surgeon who returned back to India after working in London for 10 years. I have been working in India since the past 12 years. I can clearly say that India healthcare has changed a lot and you can equate easily with any western country. Many of the doctors like me have come back now and we practice the same values as in western world. I hear lot of stories of the pitiful healthcare there. I keep getting patients from many countries to have surgery and go back as it is economically much better.
I suggest all of you not to suffer there and just take a flight back home for at least an advice. I operated on an elderly mother who went there to help her pregnant daughter. She sustained fracture and had to sit at home for almost 3 weeks as she didn’t have an insurance. I was shocked the way she returned to India. It was almost like having treatment from a bone setter as she just had some splintage by a local known person and the mother was in so much pain as she couldn’t get enough pain killers also. She was so relieved after the surgery and said that she would never dare to go back to that country again.
I urge all of you not to suffer in silence. You can now do online consultation and if required fly back to India. We have best of the doctors and hospitals that match with any of the top hospitals abroad.

This is the reason, why it’s soo important to have health insurance weather you travel from India to UK or from UK to India . NHS is struggling to cope with lack of finance. The UK residents are struggling for care . If you neglect by travelling abroad without insurance, you have to pay from your own pocket weather in India or UK .
Very important Lesson, PLEASE TAKE INSURANCE before you go abroad . The children who invite parents to support them , must ADVICE . 🙏🙏

I’ve had one colleague in India whose 5 year old kid due to late detection of leukaemia by the doctors in Mumbai passed away. And theres my cousins son who stays in Canada - got diagnosed with leukaemia at 4 years has received excellent treatment from Sickkids; she talks about how empathetic the doctors are. He is not allowed to travel to India for next 2 years since it’s a risky high infection prone country.

Yes. This is true. Also depends on the individual patient and the condition. We all hope something unfortunate like this will never happen to us. But the difference between living in India and the USA is the family support. A lot of us do not have that here.

My brother in India drove to hospital due to cough and chest discomfort to a local hospital in Ernakulam and transferred to a well known hospital stayed over a month spend 25-30 lakhs and

Originally they said viral pneumonia then they said bacterial pneumonia
On the other hand my cousin came to US as a newly married couple
6 months after he got married diagnosed with cancer
Started treatment in India during that time they got the Visa and came to US
He was able to get treatment without any insurance back in 2007
Then his wife use to say things are much easier here than in India
He is no more either
What I am trying to say is complications can happen anywhere

I moved US 5 years ago to live with my children. I am 67 years old, and I used to hear that in US, health care is very good, but the reality is that it is not available when we need it. The long waits for a simple consultation from a doctor is very much frustrating. We cant take a second opinion easily from another doctor if we are not satisfied with the procedure. We are so much tied up with the insurance and the infrastructure. We really feel helpless.

I agree on one thing for sure. Doctor appointments are pure BS in the US, there's always wait time for a population which is 1/3 of india with so high class facilities and yet cannot get an appointment. This is the major irritating part for me in the US

And it’s just 15 min and they make huge amounts of money by cheating on their documentation by putting some billing code. They are more interested in documentation and defensive medicine than talking to you as a patient! We wait for 20-30 mins for them and get they hardly spend 15 on us!
@@L20241the doctor is only an employee, the hospital gets the money. Doctors appointments are only 20 minutes, if they spend more time with patients they are written up. Not an efficient system.
@@wowser2153 well they get at least 250k pa at a minimum if not more and other amazing packages way way better than people in tech. US doctors pay gap vs other professionals here is wide and huge and that’s not the case in Europe, Canada etc. It’s definitely longgg overdue here for socialized medicine
@@L20241 to become a doctor in America first you need a 4 year college degree after 12 th . Then 4 year medical college. Another 3 years MD for primary care . So total 11 years . Start the process at 18 years and finish at 30 years . Longer for surgical specialties. Total expense 300 to 400 k. When working deduct 30-40 thousand per year from paycheck for malpractice insurance. Pass a board exam every 5 years. Compared to this misery techies are well placed with a 4 year degree and pay of 100 -150 k . Have you seen any 23 year old doctor in USA ??
I visited the US on a visit visa, and what I observed is that getting a special appointment is very difficult. By that time, most of the problems are solved by our body itself.

I’ll chime in because many of my relatives are doctors in America. The reason why there’s a shortage of doctors in America is because the doctors association of America ensures that there’s only a limited amount of medical school seats so that they can keep their fees high. Low supply of doctors + high demand from the general public for healthcare means doctors make $$$$$. The solution is simply to increase the number of seats in medical school, but the doctors association won’t allow that because it will dilute their pay.

I live in the Dublin TriValley and it’s honestly sickening what the AMA is doing!! Doctors here have half a dozen houses whereas ordinary people even high paid techies can’t buy even 1 home!

I can relate to your experience. Earlier this month, on August 8th, I had to undergo an unexpected PCNL surgery. I arrived at the ER at 4 AM, only to be told that my condition wasn't serious enough to warrant immediate surgery. I ended up waiting two days for the procedure while being sedated for pain.
I can't help but feel that I might have received better care if I were in India, although I could be wrong. Many people say that the healthcare system here is highly advanced, but my experience has made me think otherwise. Even now, as I'm still recovering, it's been a nightmare trying to schedule follow-up appointments with specialists and hospitals.

@@buddinglearner1133 they scare us saying after care in India is not good! I found ICU stay here was pretty bad in America! Indian doctors have experience that no other country can match! We just have to pay for post operative care!
In the US also doctors are good, specially the Indian doctors but ICU stay is lacking in care! Also everything in America is run by insurance companies!

I had a health issue while in California and to get an ultrasound I had to wait for 4 weeks! Then another 2 weeks to see doctor ( but I could just see the nurse) with my reports!! All the while I was lonely and super scared. I decided to come back to India, and within couple of days I could get the ultrasound done and see the doctor who was very reassuring. I had a smooth surgery and am healthy now. My biggest lesson was, return to India asap in case of health scare to be near family and near known family doctors. It helps a lot to have that support. Coming back also made me realize that US life is just not worth the risk and I am much happy and peaceful back home .

I can relate what she may be going through entire journey. In US there are wait times everywhere whether it’s annual check up, urgent care or even ER. Once we achieve our goals should return back.

I can even explain my incident with the ER here in USA, I had a mild gastric pain in the night 1:00am and we immediately rushed to near by ER as we didn’t wanted to take any risk . They addressed me immediately by doing some unnecessary tests including blood tests but none of the doctor came up and spoke to me, later they came up with a bill of 6000 $ after 5 hours to check which mode of payment we are doing it asking if we had a insurance or self pay. My child was left back with my neighbour and was worried on that also. I just asked them what happened to me and if I’m good I’ll just leave as my kid was waiting for me. I think I was admitted in the hospital around 1:00am and came back home 8:00am in the morning , they just told me its kind of gas pain nothing to worry with no pills given for that. This is ridiculous medical system is what I thought. Yes, India is the best for medical is what I can say.

You have all the reasons to be spiteful of the doctors and the medical staff attending your husband. I have been living in US for past 40 years. While listening to you i realized how important it is for new immigrants to be aware of the Healthcare regulations, limitations, and the various benefits it offers. US has very robust legal system. If you believe that your husband is a victim of a negligence then you should pursue a legal option. Take care and good luck!!

My daughter was almost 18 months and didn’t uttered a word and also not responding to Her name and not able to do any motor skills. We were so worried we tried to get an appointment with behavioral doctor and that appointment is almost 4 months away. Also we had to fill out so many forms and applications to let top doctors see my daughter. Than me and my wife took a decision to move back to India best decision ever Made in my life. Within a week after landing in India my daughter was seen my best doctors and the she herself recommended Ayurvedic therapy so we have met best doctors and therapists. She’s now behaving like regular kids nonstop talking. She’s also enrolled into top school in Hyderabad. (Prekg) i cannot put my happiness in words. I see lot of kids in USA with behavioral issues compared to India. The life is so lonely for kids in USA . Kids are attached to iPad and television. Atleast in India kids have family and friends around them to keep them busy. If you’re noticing any behavioral issues in your kid pack your bags and take them to India and you’ll see change.

If your daughter had spoken as one year old, you would have stayed in the USA and your daughter would have been hanging with iPads like you mentioned the kids in the USA are doing. just because you returned, you should not blame them like that. everyone should talk to their kids when they were babies, in India since a lot of people are there, it doesn't matter even though parents do not speak to them.

If you have sudden vision/hearing problems- please get to a doctor ASAP. For tumers on head- ear, eyes, mouth... get them operated ASAP. Anytime any tumor touches the brain - it can be as worse as it could get.

Yes true. I got bad ear infection. I had to get admitted in the hospital for high dose antibiotics thru IV. My ENT doctor said if u will delay in treatment it will get inside the brain and will become life threatening.
This is the healthcare situation in most of the so called "First World" countries😢. Waiting for 3 hrs in General Practitioners clinic and 6 hours in Emergency clinic at hospital is quite common in New Zealand too. Lack of correct diagnosis , Delays in accessing care, months of waiting list for specialist appointment, shortage of staff at public hospitals, neglect of migrant patients and insensitive handling of patient's family members are some of the common issues. My friend lost her husband to brain tumor when her second child was just 1 month old. Unimaginable horrible situation. She too was thinking of going back as she was on support work visa attached to her husband's work visa. Only a few friends advised her to wait at least until covid scare is over as traveling to India at that point of time was too dangerous. She got donations and other help from individuals as well as charitable organizations, workplace, school etc. Fortunately immigration too considered her case on humanitarian basis and granted her family permanent residency. Where medicine failed, social welfare gave some justice. Hopefully her children will have a good future even though they have lost their father.

I’m so sorry for the nightmare you have been through my friend. Your story hit too close to home for me. This past year of mine was completely upended thanks to an ear related problem. I saw the worst of the medical system here and eventually turned to alternative medicine which saved me. The healthcare system in the US was very different before the affordable care act. And then Covid added to a bad thing and made it worse. I became a us citizen in 2021 and assumed that life was set after a decade of immigration related ups and downs. After this illness though my husband and I were spooked. We are preparing our condo for sale right now. Life is unpredictable. It’s better to be around loved ones esp. family when you’re suffering. I was hoping to hear till the end that he finally did well. But he died . 😭 😭. Indian hospitals are no better . My uncle had surgery for same thing in Bangalore and was paralyzed on one side. After 3 months of physical therapy he started walking and driving. One side is still weak and small part of the tumor is still left behind. He says he will leave it like that. Too scared to go for another surgery. He is also deaf in one ear after surgery 😭

Sorry for your loss. We have seen & experienced similar situations. Small health issues are turned in to life threatening situations if we are not careful. Not sure because of negligence or ineffective medical system or lack of experience or lack of compassion. Medical is very expensive & when we are sick, we need to take a long break from work to rest & take decisions. If we take break can’t pay expensive bills. No domestic or kids help. When health is fine & work is there…. then everything will be fun but small issues can turn our lives upside down. So we also returned back.

I am a US citizen living in Bangalore and have seen the healthcare system in both countries. Idk about the rest of india, South india has top medical colleges, very good doctors and fantastic hospital infrastructure with great hospitals now. I was at Fortis, Bangalore today and the convenience of getting all the blood work done, meeting a specialist Ortho doctor, xrays was a giffy. Yes you need money for all of this but you get the best healthcare. And many were saying which American white goes to India, there were many white faces visible in Fortis today. They were speaking French and other European languages. So today, good hospitals are abundant in Bangalore and getting treatment under a specialist care is easy but may not be so affordable. If you have money, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad amd Kerala have very good hospitals and doctors.
After hearing your story, the entire system was negligent and due to their negligence you have lost your husband unfortunately.

I’m in Australia, Iam seeing same issue, when Indian immigrant goes to hospital even with full insurance they are forcing us to wait for 4-6 hours during emergency, they will see only if it’s life threatening it’s not as easy as back in India
I live in San Diego, due to severe neck pain and headaches I had to go to Urgent care recently. One of the Senior most Doctors attended my case and he just gave me a pink slip and asked me go to a different location and consult ER, he mentioned that the headache could be due to timer in brain. I waited and took another appointment with my physician from the same hospital, she clearly stated that the pain is due to spondylitis. I got some Medication and got relief after a week. I am planning to move back to India next year. I have seen enough green grass here. It’s enough no more $$ dreams!!

When we were in USA, went to top doctors for our second born kid of 18 months and asked them to check because this food intake, sleep pattern, behaviour all changed. They said it was all good, no issues and 1 said it is because I am pampering too much. After 15 days and multiple doctors and literally putting up fight with one doctor to retest, found out he has brain tumour. By that time it was late and had to go through multiple surgeries and therapies and we lost him.

Sorry for your loss, sister. You are so brave and strong. Life in US or in a foreign is good as long as you are healthy , working and paying taxes, paying insurance companies. Once you are sick, life is like hell. US health care system is short of doctors and nurses and specialists. In fact, corporate hospitals in India are even worst.At least in the US, there is an accountability. But in India, unless you have power or money, nothing moves. Family support in India is great.

When a family is going thru such a pain, the way doctors treated ,m scared how it is going to be when one is in their old age . Is my cousin not eligible to get a good treatment, why and what basis. If us is heaven on earth , my cousin's husband would not have passed away
Lot of people dont talk about the bad experiences publicly. It happens every where. The gaol of channel is to provide information and actual candid stories of people who moved back after living abroad so that people can make right decision on staying abroad vs india. No place is perfect but it what you want at a given phase of life. The intent is not about bashing American medical system but to share the struggle so other people can be better prepared. Anyway its easy to say one experience but there are challenges in each system.

The negligence in the American medical system nearly caused us to lose our son. We were fortunate that we acted quickly and fought against the doctors and nurses, which ultimately brought our son back home. I am so sorry for your loss, madam. I can completely relate to every detail you shared here

I am an Ayurved physician and i was in japan and sweden with my family for almost 5 years and that too including covid period, i was also on dependent visa but so many incidents made us to come back to india,medical services are much much better in india I can proudly say and behavioural changes in my twin daughters and their involvement in that fascinating european lifestyle made us to pack the bags and we are satisfied with our decision
now our daughters are studying in best school and they are exploring Indian culture and its essence🫶🏻

for anyone in US -> 1) visit primary care when you have some symptoms and do not delay. If you don't get appointment right away and you have some health issue, go to ER, at ER they have to treat your problem 2) have proper life insurance 3) write a will/living trust

the hospital system is broken everywhere, even in India. I had a very similar experience where I lost my mother due to hospital incompetence. After wrapping up my career in a few years, I am going to devote my time creating a better hospital system for everyone.
Yes there is no good system anywhere and requires close attention and multiple follow-ups. Good luck with your initiative and let us know if there is anything we can help with.
The worst feeling in such situations is "helplessness" - you cant do anything. When you are on mercy for ambulance to arrive, doctor to see, hostopal to give appointment. Its happening everywhere US, Canada, UK may be in other EU countries.

I am also in the US, and the healthcare system here is the worst. Sahithi, you are absolutely right. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss that happened due to their negligence.
My son and my husband went through a very drastic situation. They told me to admit my son to the emergency room, but I said no, I will take him home, and my Lord Christ will heal him. If I had left him in the hospital, it could have led to a worse situation. But through the prayers of my parents, loved ones, and by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, both of them were healed.
My husband has diabetes, and they gave him a high dosage of medicine. When he experienced abdominal pain, they just told him to drink lots of water, but the pain became worse. He could barely stand or do anything. I told him to stop taking their medicine and to continue with the one he had from India. We prayed, and God healed him. Now, he is back on the medication he brought from India.

My niece had the same experience several times in the United States. While here in India, last year I had a severe allergy attack which I couldn't recognize and couldn't even sleep for two days. Eventually the next night around 2a.m.,I almost stopped breathing.
My husband immediately took me to the emergency of a nearby hospital. Such was my determination that I myself went inside the emergency area while my husband was busy parking the car right in front of the entrance of the emergency ward.
As soon as I entered, I asked them not to do any formalities, before I grabbed the first vacant bed there. I explained everything to them in just 2 sentences. They started the treatment immediately. Finally I could breathe and sleep. At 6 in the morning they woke me up and asked me to go home. I was just wondering, can't they let me sleep more
